The Spring Season: Guerlain Barbara Rouge G Le Brilliant Lipstick

Guerlain Barbara (B02) Rouge G Le Brillant Lipstick ($46.00) is a browned down nude with a glossy sheen and subtle shimmer. Rouge G de Guerlain Le Brilliant Lipstick is a new kind of lipstick from Guerlain just launched this spring. The lipstick formula is a spin-off from the original Rouge G formula, and the twist is all about a glossier, shinier look that feels lighter but still creamy like the original formula.

Barbara is semi-opaque and truly glossy; it definitely feels like a mix between a lipstick and gloss. It also doesn’t pull moisture from my lips, so it keeps them feeling hydrated while I’m wearing the color. Because it is particularly glossy and creamy, it does have some slip to it.

In the past, I have found that more slippery lipsticks and glosses have a tendency to fade and wear off faster than drier or tackier lipsticks and glosses. With this particular formula, I found it did outlast many of the other lipsticks I’ve tried with similar formulas–about three to four hours–though not nearly as long as a typical Rouge G, which is four to six hours). The glossiness is what fades first, but the color does linger.

The price is wicked, so it’s definitely an indulgence!

Is this the right nude lipstick for you? Would you wear it?

The Spring Season is a series of posts featuring my favorite soft beige, coral, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for the first blossom of spring — that runs through March 2010.

Ooh – I like it. It’s a sexy nude color! However, my lips are a bit on the darker pigmented side than yours so i don’t know if this would do anything for me sadly.

Oh my goodness, $46.00! That’s INSANE. It’s pretty, but not that pretty. I was going to tell you that you are CRAZY if you purchased that lipstick to review. At least it was sent to you so we can see but you don’t have to break your wallet! Love your posts, thanks!

I’ve tested these new lipsticks, but only liked a couple of them, Beatrix and Bianca I think, however, I haven’t bought any yet, still waiting for a good deal. 🙂 This shade doesn’t appeal to me though.
