Valentine’s Day Makeup: Neutral Eyes & Red Lips

The boy and I went out last night for our Valentine’s Day dinner (early, I know–that’s how we do it!), so I had to pull out Chanel Dragon for a little night out on the town! 🙂  Every time I wear it, I feel like I’m totally made out of awesome, LOL.  I still love it to bits.

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. Using the 239, apply Ricepaper eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Wedge eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Cork eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Mystery eyeshadow, with the 226, into the outer crease. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Ricepaper eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Bourbon eyeliner on the lower lash line and sweeping lashes with Exceptionnel mascara.

For cheeks, apply Sugarbomb blush to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Dragon rouge allure laque with a lip brush for the perfect red lip.

I don’t think there should be rules,

but your lips should stand out!

Very nice! I think I would have preferred a tad brighter cheek, but this way Dragon is truly the star of the show. It is positively gorgeous on you!

I think it’s so cute you and the BF celebrate early. 😀

Next Tuesday is our 3rd anniversary, but SO and I usually celebrate it and Valentine’s Day jointly somewhere in between the two. This year I’m going up to SF for grad school interviews the Th/F before Valentine’s Day though, and he decided to come with me so we can spend that Saturday in SF together. I’m super excited but I totally haven’t decided what to wear yet! Hope you’ll be doing some more Vday looks for inspiration. 😀

Hi Cristine,
I’m from the Netherlands and after so many great post about chanel dragon, I bought it.
But the mine is not hot red but it’s much darker red then on your pictures. It’s much darker!
Do you know what is is? Is it’s a difference in wich country ypu live?
I bought Chanel dragon rouge Allure laquer, so not a lipstick with the same colour name.
Hope you can help.

thats cool …
my hubby also tells me to go for a good dinner but u know what i always ask him to let me shop rather then dine outside hahahha and i cook special meal for him
coz u know whenever we go out he is never satisfied so why spend money hahaha
m happy coz he is coming but u know he is coming for our son (right now m at my mom’s place “jaipur” and will be going back in feb end )

That Dragon looks amazing on you, but it just doesn’t looked the same on me. =( see how it is so vibrate on you? It looks darker on me and it dull’s my face.

I love this lipstick. The applicator makes it possible to create an even finish on the lip line, which is so hard to do especially with red lipstick.

I think you are responsible for this lipstick selling out at so many counters!

I agree, you are amazing at blending eyeshadow. Is the secret to take a little sweep of shadow and do multiple layers?…. Or do a lot of product and just blend/buff away?

I never get the great tonal transitions you do! Oh well.

i did this yest. with ricepaper , soft brown and espresso … can u pls tell me if this can be done ? or should i need to buy any of the e/s u mentioned above… i have only 2 browns espresso and soft brown pls tell me do i need to have more ?? m ordering fig 1 and star n rockets to do the makeup u posted few days back …
i will wait for ur reply and then only go ahead

To be honest I’m not really feeling this look. Maybe it’s the choice of eyeshadow and the black of your hair/top, but it looks almost gothic. I think the foundation you used is not quite right for your complexion (too pale). Overall, everything is still perfectly done, from your eyes, to your face to those amazing red lips, but as a whole it doesn’t quite click for me. Sorry!

Christine, Christine, Christine! For almost a year now, I’ve been meaning to get Chanel Dragon (mostly because of you, haha) and I just never got around to it. My husband bought it for me for Valentine’s Day!

It is one of the only beauty products I have that actually lives up to all its hype. It really is the perfect red. I would never have known if it wasn’t for you, so thank you!!
