Bold eye. I’m getting in the process of wearing more bold lips, but its a bit out of my comfort zone, so I normally go with a bold smokey eye with a light nude pink lipstick and gloss, just until I get confident enough to leave the house with a statement lipstick (:

I love both! Depends on my mood, but more on time really.

Bold EYES when I have the time to do eyeshadow, blending, etc, with a nude pink lip (really nude lips show wear because my lips are naturally red, I still do it sometimes but more work).

Bold LIPS when I don’t have time. Bare Canvas paint and Mascara on my eyes, grab my red lipstick and throw it on the Bus, Skytrain, car, etc!

I like everything bold! lmao Well more than I should.

But to answer the question I love a bold lip and day brown shadowy eye, verses smokey eye that demands a nude lip.

I prefer or am more comfortable with bolder eyes. However, lately I’ve been wanting to wear certain lipsticks so my usual approach has changed. Usually I match the lip color to the eyes but now I’m matching the eyes to the lips…

Amal Avatar

I’d usually say bolder lips but these days I’m into subtle lips with colorfull eyeliners.

whoo-whoo. I just woke up to see my question was picked. It should be a good day :))

Bold Lips. I have a pretty mouth, so it’s a good feature to show off. 🙂 “Clean eyes” look best on me. I have tried often to perfect the smokey eyes, but I always end up being disappointed with the result. Somehow, it makes me look tired and old. 🙁

I would say I gravitate towards a bolder eye with a not-so-bold lip when I’m doing make-up, but I LOVE seeing a woman with a bold lip and neutral eye (I think because it isn’t as common). It’s hard not to notice the classic red lip with crisp black cat-eye liner… SO SEXY!

I tend to do bold eyes more often, mainly because they require no maintenance. I do love a bold lip, but I don’t like having to worry about touching it up throughout the day. On the other hand, doing a bold lip with a neutral eye takes much less time for me to apply than dramatic eye makeup. Talking purely about appearance, I don’t have a preference; it just depends on my mood. 🙂

i would say its not for me but its for my hubby he prefers
bold lips and golds on the eyes…

his fav are russian red , VG1 , rebel , girl abt town , show orchid , O and fresh morrocon

Do you mean in one look… or just in general? I like bold eyes with a nude lip and equally like bold lips with neutral eyes. I’m all for dramatic makeup though so I sometimes like to rock a bold eye makeup and bold lip colour in one look. 🙂

Bold eyes!
I think pulling off the bold lips look also depends on if you have nice lips and if they frame a nice set of teeth (… maybe i’m just self conscious coz i have snaggleteeth) 😡

Bold lips all the way!

I think the following are kinda played out:
UDPP + inner corner highlight + lid colour + smoky crease
brow bone highlight
nude lip
lipgloss
cheekbone highlights

Instead I like soft brights. Clean clear skin (spot coverage of a cream product, nothing all over), peachy matte blush, coral, bright pink or a soft red lip. No shimmer. I’m skipping Spring Colour Forecast and can’t wait for that paper collection, whatever it’s called…

hmmm, I myself don’t hardly ever do bold eyes or lips. I wish I could more often. I think I would go for bold eyes and a light colored lipstick/gloss.

I usually do bright eye make up instead of lips, because I love playing with colours and I’m actually pretty good at applying eye make up nowadays. (I did this gorgeous green look yesterday using Too Faced eyeshadows, the light green one from the new Glamour to go palette and the green one from the Eyeshadow Insurance policy set, and I was complimented on it by several people (on beauty counters).)

I sometimes do a bolder lip if I do more simple eyes, but to be honest, bold lips don’t go too well with the stay-at-home-mum-on-a-school-run image. 🙂

I do colorful, but not extreme, bold eye looks all the time. My lips are never nude, but they’re not bold either. Loud colors on lips make mine look less pouty.

tremorviolet Avatar

I do both, trading off with a bold bright eye and neutral lips one day and a neutral eye and bold lips the next. I think I actually like bold lips the best for a retro glamorous feel but since I’ve turned 40, I’ve had a lot of trouble with lip lines and it takes a lot of work to prevent bleeding. 🙁

I love the way bold lips look on other people, but they just don’t work with my face. I always wear bold eyes to make up for it. If I don’t have at least 5 different colors on my eyes at one time, it’s either a very hectic or very lazy day.

Sally Avatar

Bold Eyes. Bold lips I have done before, but the upkeep is ridiculous and if you have any imperfections to your lips (dry and chapped, like mine) they are amplified with bold lipstick. I like to keep the attention on the eyes and use a rosy gloss on the lips.

monica Avatar

i guess when it comes down to it, i prefer bold eyes.

bold lips are easier to do and end up looking gorgeous and classic, but it’s harder to maintain during the day.

with a bold eye i never have to touch up the shadow (maybe wipe away some eyeliner transfer, if that) and i have the option of switching up the lipsticks/glosses throughout the day..which is always fun.

Helena Avatar

I always root for the underdog, and since I think eyes are overrated, I tend to prefer bold lips!
Seriously, it seems like people will spend twenty minutes on their eyes, but a clear gloss is enough for their lips. Blasphemy!

Lilly Avatar

I prefer bold eyes in my opinion they’re hot and because you have more eye shadow color options than lip colors, imagine me with a bright orange or green lips? or blue or white?

Jennifer D. Avatar

I have to go with bold eyes and a neutral lip:) I love when someone stares at my eyes and wants to know how I created the look. My husband says he gets lost in my eyes even with the makeup. He really enjoys it. I have full lips so sometimes having a dark lipstick can be too much for me.

Catherine Avatar

I definitely prefer bolder eyes, since mine are small and need all the help they can get. I find lately I’ve been doing bold lips or brighter cheeks more though since I’ve been pressed for time. A bright lip is such an easy way to wake up the face, especially if it’s the right color.

Leenie Avatar

I definitely love a bold eye so that’s what I usually roc, but don’t get me wrong I do wear bold lipsticks also I don’t put limits to what I wear.
