Physicians Formula Natural Argan Oil Blush
Physicians Formula Natural Argan Oil Blush ($12.99 for 0.24 oz.) is a light-medium pink with warm undertones and a satin finish. Gucci Beauty Coral Flower (P, $49.00) is darker. MAC Pink Sprinkles (LE, $21.00) is cooler-toned. MAC Lesson in Love (LE, $21.00) is lighter. Chanel Innocence (160) (P, $45.00) is more muted, browner. Makeup Geek Spell Bound (P, $9.99) is lighter. MAC Cheeky Bugger (LE, $21.00) is similar. Dior My Lady (003) (LE, $60.00) is similar. NARS Anguilla (P, $39.00) is darker, cream. Chanel Sakura (87) (LE, $45.00) is lighter. Hourglass Radiant Magenta (P, $35.00) is warmer. Urban Decay Overexposed (LE) is similar. NYX Mauve (P, $5.00) is cooler-toned. See comparison swatches / view dupes.
The formula is supposed to have “luminous, light-reflecting pigments” for a “skin perfecting effect” while being “infused with 100% Argan oil.” It had semi-opaque color payoff that was buildable to full color coverage with a soft, smooth texture that was slightly powdery (I could definitely tell talc was the first ingredient). Nevertheless, it sat well on the skin and looked natural without being too matte or too shimmery. It didn’t look powdery, and the blush itself blended easily when I used it. On my skin, it lasted for seven hours before fading. The powder is heavily fragranced; it has a spicy, perfume-y scent, and the scent lingers and lingers all day long. If you’re sensitive to scents, I would stay away, and if you don’t want to smell your face all day, I’d also stay away. It’s not subtle, and I can see the scent being a deal-breaker. The compact also contains a brush stored underneath the pan of blush. The brush was scratchy and shed everywhere, and it did make the compact more cumbersome by having that additional layer for it.

It looks really pretty, like a collectors item 🙂
It is a pretty pattern!
I think the blush is gorgeous, I just have a hard time spending $12.99 for a blush from the drugstore! I also don’t like how they added scent to it. I am sensitive and get migraines very easily, perfume scented products on my face are not my products of choice.
I’d probably skip just because of the scent 🙁
Just FYI if you ever do find a PF product you like–they’re pricy for drugstore but go on sale pretty often, and drugstores usually have rewards systems and coupons out the wazoo!
Oh all the drugstore brands, I think Physician’s Formula has the cutest packaging by far. Their Nude Wear Powder is so adorable looking, so girly and shimmery with a cute bow. I think they could package a Cinderella line of makeup so much better than MAC. Anyways, I love the looks of this blush – so pretty and exotic looking, nice pink color, and the performance is pretty good for the price ( $13 but $6.75 with with BOGO 50% off). But the heavy scent is a total deal breaker for me. I really don’t understand why companies put so much (or any) fragrance into face products. But I’m really happy whenever I see drugstore brands trying to step up their game — I have a soft spot for the under-rated underdogs of the makeup world.
Oops, typo on the BOGO 50% off price
Fragrance is often added in order to cover up the scent of other ingredients. In the case of this product, though, I would think the argan oil itself would provide a bit of help in that regard, unless that-along with the talc-is what’s causing the “scent overload”…
I was surprised at HOW MUCH fragrance they put in the powder!
The swatch looks chalky but it looks nice and glowy on you!
Thanks, Ginny! It definitely blends out nicely.
it looks a bit powdery in the swatch. I am glad it turned out ok on your skin. the perfume smell is a deal breaker on this for me. You look lovely as always! Good too see well-done drugstore products!
I really wish they hadn’t added fragrance!
I recently picked this up but I’m getting rid of it lol. It looks like a beautiful blush but way too light for me. Thank goodness I came across your review before touching it!
Bummer!!
I don’t understand why so many brands make some great products heavily fragranced. It may not be a deal breaker for everyone, but I don’t think there’s anyone out there actually looking for a blush that can double as perfume, and it definitely is a deal breaker for some people. They’re basically just throwing away money they’d otherwise get from customers sensitive to perfume.
I was really surprised at how long it lingered! Even the bin that I have them in smells of the scent now!
I love this whole look Christine. So pulled together and (effortlessly) pretty . The blush looks really pretty (product-wise too) but a scent that lingers for HOURS?…..thats nuts! Im not super sensitive to smells but I still wouldn’t want so much fragrance in anything thats going on my face. Thnx for the review:)
Thank you, Dee! I’m not sensitive either, but I definitely find it hard to tolerate a strong scent on my face that actually is lingering!
The design & embossment is gorgeous, but the rating isn’t great 🙂 sometimes I wonder why brands bother including a sub-par brushes too.
Brushes like that just annoy me, lol! I end up tossing them most of the time (they tend to slip out).
I love the color, and I normally love Physician’s Formula. However, I can’t fathom why they’d put a strong scent in the blush. Normally, they’re great for being hypoallergenic. I like spicy and it wouldn’t affect my nasal allergies, but I wonder if my skin could handle it.
We’re on the same page! I was thinking it was crazy to have that much fragrance in it given how the brand positions themselves.
I just bought this because CVS had them 40% off!! I wasn’t going to try them but I can never resist a sale!
Yay!!
If I could get it on sale, I’d probably pick it up.
I bet it’ll go on sale!
I’ve never been impressed by anything Physician’s Formula makes… and they are pretty pricey so their products should work well.
What have you tried, Rachel?
The Happy Booster blush, dual ended concealer, a foundation, liquid liner, shimmer strips palette, and bronzer. I think that’s it!
Oh, wow! You’ve really given them a chance. Bummer to hear nothing has worked well! 🙁
It looks beautiful in the pan and on your skin, but what a bummer that it’s so scented. I’m really sensitive to fragrance, so I’ll have to skip 🙁
🙁 I wouldn’t even say I’m sensitive to scent, but I don’t like it when all I do is smell it all day long!
I might just get this and look at it…so pretty!!! Nice decoration for my vanity but with heavy fragrance, not so sure about actually using it. Who wants to smell their face all day long?
I was SO disappointed at how strong & lingering the scent was.
I was/am definitely planning on picking up the other blush, but I may grab this one, as well! It looked too warm in the packaging, but I think it could work… Of course I’ll wait for a 40% off sale at CVS or Rite Aid, LOL! There are a couple of other products from this line I want to try, too.
I don’t personally mind the “bulky” packaging, as it’s easier for me to hold, and I’m less likely to lose it in the bottom of my bag, LOL! The only downside is that it isn’t talc-free, which PF does well. Some of my favorite PF products are actually the talc-free ones, and they tend to be more pigmented.
I was disappointed that this formula had talc since I know others by them promote that they are talc-free.
oohhh I saw this the other day and almost bought it, but now I’m glad I didn’t because the scent would bother me.
Phew!
At first “blush” (yes, corny) I thought this was a higher end product. It is beautiful – shame about the strong scent.
I wish they didn’t have the scent!
Wow that packaging is exquisite for a drug store product.
The design is pretty!
These are killing me. Stellar packaging, look great on…but the scent. 🙁
Exactly! The scent is so unecessary!
The actual thing is very pretty – I would have killed for something like this as a kid, and my glittery rogue senses are still strong to this day! Strong scents in makeup don’t always bother me (lipsticks are usually OK, unless the scent is ‘fake cherry/fruit punch’), but for a face powder, I don’t think I’d be as keen.
I’d never actually use this though, just look at it, LOL!
If I can STILL smell it on my face hours later, it’s too much for me 🙁
