I have teflon cheeks, every blush seems to slide off or disappear unless I carefully layer it. I use a good cheek stain ( Vincent Longo in Baby’s Boo), then a powder blush ( Tarte Amazonian Clay in pink), then face powder, then another layer of the Tarte powder blush. That’s the only way it will last all day without having to re-apply.

Mehron Lip Cream in Petal Pink (works equally well as a blush!), topped with BH Cosmetics flower blush duo in Iris and then dusted with a little Milani Baked Bronzer on Glow. Golden plum rose perfection!

Cheek contour: MAC blush in Taupe.
Cheek color: I change blush nearly every day. Lately I’m playing with the LORAC Unzipped blush palette, Tarte Tartlette in Celebrated, and MUFE HD Blush 410 (coral).
Highlight: Either Too Faced Candlelight or Notoriously Morbid’s Osteomancy.

Too faced blush in There’s Something About Berry.

It’s really one product, but I’ve been using the three different blush/highlighting stripes together and separately and its magic. I’m of dark skin tone and I’ve seen variying reviews of this blush, but I love it. I like that it’s buildable because there’s glowy sparkle. love to use it with my smash box fan brush to pick up the deeper shades towards the bottom as blush then use the top shade for a peachy golden highlight.

I’ve mostly been using Silk Naturals Heavenly Perfecting Glow. It’s supposed to be a highlighter for complexions far darker than mine. On me it’s a gorgeous, rosy blush with a golden glow and luminous finish without being glittery or making my pores look awful. So that and no highlighter has been my go-to lately.

Lately it’s been either NYX blush in Taupe or MAC’s Omega (the eyeshadow!) to contour, and then either MAC’s CCB in Virgin Isle for blush and CCB in Pearl for a highlight, OR a powder blush (MUG in Spellbound, MAC Dame or Blushbaby) with Becca’s Pressed Highlighter in Moonstone. A lot of these are new to me as of the past month or 2 and I am SO loving them all!!

I’ve been going through the process of decluttering and using products I have so I pulled out MAC’s Wonder Woman Pink Power and have been layering the blush portion over MAC’s Ladyblush.

Since it’s winter white outside, I’ve been sticking to neutral/minimal colours for cheeks; matte bronzer as a contour/blush in Annabelle Sun Kissed (Canadian company), and Mac’s beauty powder in Forever Marilyn for a subtle highlight.

Kevyn Aucoiin medium or Anasatasia fawn to contour. Highlight, I have been using my new Cle de peau pink luminizer because it’s new and lovely. But, I love highlighters and love changing them around .Blush, I tend to be reaching for Chanel malice and Jersey along with mac “Make you mine” a lot lately. Although, the Mac is frustrating me because it won’t wear long on me,like a few hours. That is annoying me because I love the shade and it’s in a multi-pan . So, I can’t take it with me until I buy a small Z palette.

For my super-quick, easy, reliable, always works cheek combo I use Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder in Radiant Light like a bronzer/contour powder and Incandescent Light as a highlighter; if I’m doing a cool look that day, I use Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush in Ethereal Glow; if I’m doing a warmer look, I’ll use Incandescent Electra or Luminous Flush from the Ambient Lighting blush palette — I use Mood Exposure from the palette for plummier looks, warm or cool. I like to switch up cheek products daily, but if I don’t have time for blending, just need to get out the door fast looking reliably good, these products have never failed me.

I’m using one of my go-to blushes at the moment, MAC Dainty Mineralize Blush, paired with MAC Lightscapade Mineralize Skinfinish. I’m also using the Please Yourself Mineralize blush that came out with one of their collections recently (the name escapes me), also with Lightscapade. I always go back to their Mineralize blushes since I love shimmer. I’m all about glowing cheeks! 🙂

When I’m in a real hurry, and I need a “swipe & go” product, I use one of the Maybelline Master Hi-Light powders-this week, it’s been the pink one. It provides a hint of color, and a nice highlight, and requires minimal effort.

On days I have a bit more time to do a more sculpted look, I just grab my MAC custom 12-pan palette, which includes Pink Cult, Animal Instincts, & Blushbaby for color, Sculpt, Shadowy, Harmony, Taupe, Taupe Shape, & Next To Skin to contour, & Accentuate, Emphasize, & Light Sweep to highlight. It’s very simple & basic, but everything coordinates together, and works for my coloring, as well as any “look” I do. It took over a year to put the palette together, and lots of editing the “list”, but I finally narrowed it down.

When I have time to really work on a look, I don’t have a “go-to”, and enjoy taking the time to figure things out!

Mac Restores Dazzle Cremeblend Blush (from Shop MAC Cook MAC) or Shiseido Camellia Compact + Bobbi Brown Bronzing Powder in Natural 1 or Mac Skinsheen Bronzer Stick in Tan Tint or Mac Lush-Light Bronze (try to finish up).

When I am really in a hurry I use the maybelline combo they launched in the summer Tropical something. The bronzer is subtle, maybe too subtle but the blush perks me up.
By the way I don’t own anything by Kevin Aucoin… but this weekend by coincidence I have been reading about his life and achievements, also about his early and sad death. I am making a mental list to get some of his powders and maybe the ” sensual enhancer” that every expert raves about. I mean.. with that name alone, how can I resist?
