Swatch Saturday: ColourPop Matte Super Shock Shadows Photos & Swatches
ColourPop Matte Super Shock Shadows
Recently, ColourPop launched new shades of their Matte Super Shock Shadows (I believe nine are totally new, and then a few were previously released in limited edition holiday sets). I’ll definitely be reviewing some, but I have no idea whether I’ll end up testing all/when they’ll be reviewed, so here are swatches for those who’ve been curious if the brand has less sparkly shades available. I have 13 of the 14 (four I had previously) to share with you…

Bill is listed twice.
Sorry – I didn’t change out the name on the last one. It is fixed now!
Ooh, Girl Crush and Effect look pretty unique! Effect is gorgeous.
(your pics for Tink are labeled Bill)
It’s fixed. Sorry again everyone!
Hey Christine,
Just wanted to let you know that the last picture you posted you accidentally put Bill when it was a picture of Tink. You can delete this post if you want after you read it. I just wanted to give you a heads up. Thanks so much for posting more ColourPop stuff, I am obsessed with them right now. Also, obsessed with the new L’Oreal Infallible Pro-Last Lipcolors (I have 7 now).
xoxo Deb
Fixed! Thanks!
YESS!!! I’m so excited Colorpop came out with mattes. Good matte shadows can be really hard to find and for only $5, unbelievable. Christine, are these shadows easy to de-pot?
They’re cream, so if you depotted them, they would probably dry out 🙁 If you had something that was pretty air tight, you could just scoop them out and put them somewhere else (like MAC’s empty palette with wells, though one eyeshadow will not fill up a well).
Oh, that’s right I forgot about that (sigh). But that’s still ok with me. That gray looks nice, not too dark or light and only $5!
I had one fall out of the packaging when I accidentally dropped it. They are only about 1/4 inch thick, the rest of the packaging is solid. They have a consistency that reminds me of the infallible shadows but slightly more wet.. they crumble into large pieces but “mush” back together pretty seamlessly. Just FYI if anyone wanted to try repotting. Personally I would leave them as is, the packaging is nice and airtight. I found a craft organizer at Walmart that holds them beautifully (color tattoos or similar as well) face up with each in it’s own little box, I believe it holds 18, latching lid and almost transparent plastic so you can see through it… for around $4. If you are looking I suggest grabbing a color tattoo off the display and taking it with you to make sure you get the right one.
Thanks for the tip Charlotte. I have a ton of colourPop.I’ve been trying to come up with a way to organize them so I can see the color. I have been looking at container store. Seems kinda pricey for plastic boxes.
Everyone is welcome. Took me forever to find something to organize my Color Tattoos.. they drove me nuts. Everything was the wrong size and you can’t stack them on their sides since you can’t see the colors. The Colorpops just happened to fit in the same box.. I have three or four of them now for all my cream shadows. I can’t seem to find the exact one on the website anymore but it looks exactly like this: http://www.michaels.com/darice-17-compartment-bead-organizer/10091119.html#q=craft+organization&start=6 The box dimensions are right, but the compartments are too small mine are 1-3/4″x2-1/2″ with one 1-3/4″x5″ box that holds two shadows for a total of 18.. not sure how that is possible unless the website is wrong. Maybe you could take a shadow with you to the store to be sure. I’m almost positive my Walmart still has them too.
Also I use another box with more smaller compartments to organize my jewelery.. so handy especially for earrings and sets.
Charlotte, thanks so much for the tip !!
Thanks for the link! I’ll have to go get some. I bet my Nyx eye shadows would fit nicely too.
Bill, Girl Crush, Tink, and Effect are all really nice looking.
They seem interesting so far! 🙂
Which brush do you use to apply the ColourPop shadows, Christine? I haven’t found a synthetic brush yet that picks up enough product to get opaque color pay-off.
I usually use MAC’s 239! I haven’t had any issues with it for most shades I’ve tried so I haven’t had to experiment.
YYYAAAAASSSSSSS. Bill, Girl Crush, Effect, and Hustle should be here on Monday. I’m so pumped for Effect! I want to use it with Bae in a super smokey eye 🙂
Yay!!
Oh my gosh I’m loving the taupeiness of Girl Crush and Bill! Such a shame they don’t ship to Australia though 🙁
Let’s hope they change that soon!
Pigmentation looks nice & swatches look smooth! Can’t wait to see reviews 😀
I’m hopeful!
I’m really impressed with these, especially at their price point! I wish higher-end brands would put out products with the same quality, especially when it comes to cream shadows.
It would be nice if they did!
Great shadows. Great swatches. Thanks.
No prob, Liz!
I’m loving Effect, Bill and Girl Crush. Girl Crush is such a great lavender taupe.
All of these are really nice. ColourPop might end up on my very short list of mattes I love. (UD Naked Basics and Naked2Basics, Tarte, and MUFE.)
I bet they would pair well with those from UD!
I think you’re right. These would be a nice way to augment.
I’m addicted to ColourPop now just like everyone else and picked up Girl Crush the day it released. It was advertised as being grayer than it is, but I do really like the dusty mauve gray it is. I like the lippies I have, but vastly prefer the pigments/shadows. So far I have Sunnies, Get Lucky, Hustle, Cheeky, Game Face, Krinkle, Girl Crush, and Kimono and love each one. Animal, Chipper, Not a Box of Chocolates set, Never Naughty set, Sugar, and Lace are on their way to me. I love that these are so high-quality yet relatively inexpensive to collect. Excellent for collectors, beginners who want to try new colors, artists, and most importantly those who cannot express pricier similar monos.
They’re totally worth the hype (thus far!). Sure, not every single shade is AMAZING!!! but so many are 🙂
Silly autocorrect! Access*, not express on my OP hehe. Definitely. There are more great shades that are unique than I ever expected at this price point. And with such successful shade diversity, at 5 bucks a pop a less than AMAZING shade isn’t such a big disappointment. And is super satisfying when they are amazing! And I’ve found their costumer service really great so far.
Effect looks really gorgeous! I need more mattes!
The shade is pretty!
Ooh I’ve been looking fwd to these swatches! Bill & HankyPanky are really subtle and pretty…my everyday kinda colours. I’ve been so impressed with the wear time and texture of the ones that I already have . Go color pop:)
I’m still totally impressed by the brand!
Did you get Cheeky? I’m curious how Cheeky and Play compare.
Hey Kirsten!
I swatched a month or so ago! They’re both in the gallery! 🙂
Argh, I even looked through all the posts before asking and I still missed it. Sorry!
Oh dear- more to add to the list for when they ship to the UK!
lol! 🙂
The colors don’t grab me, but the textures look good! Might be worth a look when the expand the line down the road
They all have a muted quality to them – I wonder if that was done to make them more basic, “wearable” shades in a way.
All of these look amazing, need to try!
Yay!
Thanks so much for the swatches! Do you think colourpop shadows apply better with fingers or with a brush?
I prefer a brush, as I don’t find fingertips to offer much in the way of precision, personally!
I like to use a mix. I’ll place the color with a brush for accuracy, pat a bit on with a finger to add intensity/opacity, then blend with a brush. Both methods work. Very easy products to work with in that texture.
Those shadows seemed to swatch pretty well. For a fan of mattes, they would be ideal. Some very pretty colours.
I only wish they hadn’t sneaked shimmer in a few of them, lol!
I really like Bill! Hope you review that one if/when. Bill and Girl Crush are right up my alley.
Hopefully!
These look promising! The pigmentation and texture looks great so far. I would love to see a more vivid colour.
They have some brighter shades in their existing line-up – not all matte, of course, but they do have brighter shades.
Please do reviews on these soon! I have so few matte shades, and these look so promising. I want almost all of these!
Thanks for the suggestion!
effect is quite nice.
It is a pretty teal!
So excited for these! I got mine in the mail today! Hope they work out well.
Nice!! 🙂 Here’s hoping you love!
Girl Crush and Bill are pretty! I prefer sparkly shadows to matte, but may have to get a few of these.
Looks like there are a lot of great transition shades in there! I need to order some of theses!
These looks nicely pigmented. I used to hate using matte shadows but I guess that is mostly the fault of the brand I chose — it was so hard to work with! However, I did like the ones from ColourPop’s holiday set.
Yes! I’ve been waiting for these swatches. Your swatches are always lovely, Christine! Effect looks like a unique color, unlike how it looks in the pan. I have to agree with everyone though, Girl Crush is looking good too!
First of all, Bill looks like it would be a spectacular dirty mauve blush. It reminds me of NARS Doceur, only with a little more of a plummy tone. For some reason this particular shade really draws me in.
Secondly, I’m actually glad to see that some are flat-matte and some are modern-matte (mostly matte but a slight satin sheen). I know I’ve voiced my disapproval of labeling things as ‘matte’ when they’re not ‘old school matte’, but for some reason it works with these shadows.
Thanks for the quick run through, Christine!
These look really nice! I may have snorted some tea over my keyboard when I read that they had a shade called ‘Cop a Feel’ though. 😀 It doesn’t offend me in the least or anything, but it’s…one step more blunt/crass than most brands usually manage, LOL!
I think Tink and Effect are my favourites here (I have this weird obsession with elephant grey eye-makeup. I have no idea why. It’s like chartreuse) 😉
Love these colors! I need to try them out when I am able too! 😀
Oh my God…
The matte formula looks really good.. I am excited for their reviews now.. Girl Crush is my fav here 🙂
Bill and Girl Crush remind me of Limit and Nooner from the Naked 3 palette.
I’m soo happy they released some mattes! I’m not the biggest fan of shimmery shadows so I’m looking forward to trying these and hearing what you think.
wow they are gorgeous *__* effect is so nice
Hey Christine,
Will these be rated soon? Thank you!
