Guerlain Baby Rose Nail Lacquer ($26.00 for 0.35 fl. oz.) is described as a “soft and classic pink.” It is a light pink with subtle, warm undertones and a cream-jelly finish. NARS Ithaque (P, $20.00) is warmer. Cult Nails Alluring (LE, $12.00) is more opaque, darker. Zoya Rue (P, $9.00) is cooler-toned. Zoya Brigitte (P, $9.00) is darker. MAC Confectionary (LE, $16.00) is lighter. Cult Nails Enticing (P, $12.00) is cooler-tond. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

This shade had semi-sheer color coverage after two coats, where there was visible nail line and some of the natural color of the nail beds came through. The polish had a slightly thicker consistency, as you might expect of a jelly finish, that self-leveled quite well (though not completely perfect) and didn’t look streaky once leveled and dry. It dried down to a high-shine finish that didn’t need a top coat, and it looked plush and thick (without taking forever to dry). I wish there was something about the shade that indicated it was a sheerer shade, though. I’ve had very good wear with Guerlain’s formula, easily achieving seven days of wear with very minor tip wear (and no chipping).

I actually know people who prefer this type of nail polishes, but it’s really not me! Guerlain hasn’t really made a nail polish that speaks to me personally since Sulfurous. I’m hoping things will pick up this year.

This reminds me a bit of the OPI NYC Ballet soft shades collection (which I own most of, either in full or in minis)! I like that it doesn’t have the streakiness, and I have a bit of a soft spot for shades that do this sort of thing well. I think I probably have all the ones I need already, though, so my wallet is safe! 😉
