Dolce & Gabbana Eva Glow Illuminating Powder Review, Photos, Swatches

Dolce & Gabbana Eva Glow Illuminating Powder ($68.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a very pale, muted yellowed beige with a light dusting of silver sparkle. It looks mostly matte on the skin, in terms of finish, and at most, it gives the appearance that the area it applied is lighter. I couldn’t think of another highlighter that had a similar color or finish.

I can’t say that this really worked to illuminate on my skin tone at all–maybe if I looked very closely and there was a fair amount of light. I could barely detect it, which might make it more suitable as a finishing or setting powder, though when I attempted to use it that way, I looked ashy (so I think it would be a shade that might work better for very light to fair skin tones). The powder itself feels very soft and finely-milled but terribly powdery; there’s a lot of excess that gets kicked up as soon as the brush touches the surface, and it can easily look powdery on the skin if you’re not careful. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to achieve the “radiant glow” described by the brand. In order to test wear, I just layered more heavily on cheekbones so I could actually see it, and it was noticeably faded within six hours.

The version featured in this post is the Collector’s Edition, but the shade itself is available permanently for $51 (without the red lacquered cover/design on the powder).

Wow, this is very disappointing, that it doesn’t perform well as either an illuminator or setting powder. And at $ 68, I can’t afford to lose all that powder just from my brush touching it. Too bad, it’s so pretty-looking and the color looks nice

If you’re looking for a subtle highlighter/illuminating setting powder for the eye area, take a look at NARS Nico. It’s half the price, and is amazing for that purpose.

Monica, have you tried using the Hourglass Ambient Powders? I have Diffused Light and use it as a setting & finishing powder because it doesn’t settle into fine lines and gives me a nice glow. I also like Josie Maran Luminous Coconut Liquid Finishing Powder ( $42 at QVC but comes with a big brush). And after applying the powder, I also mist my face with water too.

This is a product/brand I’ve been wanting to try, but unfortunately it’s not readily available to try in-stores… I’ve tried researching this particular shade (the permanent version), and while it gets decent revoews, I haven’t found any good swatches. Thank you sooo much for this!

This is utterly disappointing, but somewhat expected. I’ve yet to find a D&G item that I’ve liked. I really wish I could find something from D&G that I could justify spending that much money on, but too many products I’ve tried have been such let-downs. Are they gorgeous? Of course! Are the worth the money? Ehhh . . .
If I’m going to stray my loyalties from Chanel and Dior, I’m headed straight for Givenchy. Their products are amazing and the packaging is awesome.

I have to agree, it looks so beautiful on the outside, but ends up looking more like a setting powder when applied. I just love that red compact, though!

Thanks for saving a bunch of us money Christine! I have to say though, judging from the swatch alone, it seemed promising (I mean, if I haven’t seen the grade first haha).

Christine I have seen your post for years, and I notice that in every one your skin looks flawless. You mentioned that you use guerlain parure gold foundation, but I can not find anywhere. Is it discountined or can you please tell me where do you get it??? Thanks in advance
