Dolce & Gabbana Eva Glow Illuminating Powder Review, Photos, Swatches
Dolce & Gabbana Eva Glow Illuminating Powder
Dolce & Gabbana Eva Glow Illuminating Powder ($68.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a very pale, muted yellowed beige with a light dusting of silver sparkle. It looks mostly matte on the skin, in terms of finish, and at most, it gives the appearance that the area it applied is lighter. I couldn’t think of another highlighter that had a similar color or finish.
I can’t say that this really worked to illuminate on my skin tone at all–maybe if I looked very closely and there was a fair amount of light. I could barely detect it, which might make it more suitable as a finishing or setting powder, though when I attempted to use it that way, I looked ashy (so I think it would be a shade that might work better for very light to fair skin tones). The powder itself feels very soft and finely-milled but terribly powdery; there’s a lot of excess that gets kicked up as soon as the brush touches the surface, and it can easily look powdery on the skin if you’re not careful. Unfortunately, I wasn’t able to achieve the “radiant glow” described by the brand. In order to test wear, I just layered more heavily on cheekbones so I could actually see it, and it was noticeably faded within six hours.
The version featured in this post is the Collector’s Edition, but the shade itself is available permanently for $51 (without the red lacquered cover/design on the powder).

Wow – a D!!! Just looking at the top photo, I thought I would like this (certainly more than the earlier one that was very brown-ish gold and warm) but this rating makes it easy for me not even to crave this!
SO SO powdery 🙁 You can just feel the talc in it.
Wow, this is very disappointing, that it doesn’t perform well as either an illuminator or setting powder. And at $ 68, I can’t afford to lose all that powder just from my brush touching it. Too bad, it’s so pretty-looking and the color looks nice
I wish it was a better formula!
Eek 🙁 So it’s pretty on the outside but does not have much substance, got it.
Exactly!
I think this product would be good for the mature gal. I have a hard time with highlighter (got a bit of creasing around my eyes) so I’d like to think that this lighter Illuminating powder would be good for the older gal crowd 😉
Monica
PS: gold eye shadow looks so pretty on you!
Maybe! I just don’t really get illumination much at all, like not even a subtle one. More like, “Maybe it’s there, or maybe I’m seeing things” level of subtlety!
If you’re looking for a subtle highlighter/illuminating setting powder for the eye area, take a look at NARS Nico. It’s half the price, and is amazing for that purpose.
Monica, have you tried using the Hourglass Ambient Powders? I have Diffused Light and use it as a setting & finishing powder because it doesn’t settle into fine lines and gives me a nice glow. I also like Josie Maran Luminous Coconut Liquid Finishing Powder ( $42 at QVC but comes with a big brush). And after applying the powder, I also mist my face with water too.
This is a product/brand I’ve been wanting to try, but unfortunately it’s not readily available to try in-stores… I’ve tried researching this particular shade (the permanent version), and while it gets decent revoews, I haven’t found any good swatches. Thank you sooo much for this!
Too bad, it was pretty 🙁
I’m so glad this got a D, my wallet totally can’t handle another high end highlighter that I’ll never touch because it’s so pretty. Although, maybe that’s a good reason to buy it 😉
Such a shame, it looks so beautiful and silky in the pan! 🙁
Well at least CT Confession and that eye look looks amazing on you. Too bad the D&G highlighter doesn’t really highlight at all or even work that well as a setting powder, especially considering the price.
This is utterly disappointing, but somewhat expected. I’ve yet to find a D&G item that I’ve liked. I really wish I could find something from D&G that I could justify spending that much money on, but too many products I’ve tried have been such let-downs. Are they gorgeous? Of course! Are the worth the money? Ehhh . . .
If I’m going to stray my loyalties from Chanel and Dior, I’m headed straight for Givenchy. Their products are amazing and the packaging is awesome.
;_; so pretty…. 🙁 D??
How does this compare to Mac Hot Sensation from the Red Red Red collection?
Thanks!
Illuminating? I rarely comment, but $68 for this?? I could rub a piece of chalk on my face and get better illumination! This needs to be reformulated or discontinued ASAP!!
I have to agree, it looks so beautiful on the outside, but ends up looking more like a setting powder when applied. I just love that red compact, though!
Dolce & Gabbana could have really made these highlighters epic but they’re so disappointing. Can’t believe this costs $68.
Bummer that the powder isn’t too great but your eye makeup is gorgeous!! Love that gold on you.
Gosshh.. this is so disappointing.. the powder looked so pretty in the pan but so powdery and no glowy thing.. :(… thanks for saving our bucks.. surely skippable! 🙂
how misleading of them to use words such as glow & illuminating , when this powder is neither .
ESPECIALLY at that price .
yikes !
Thanks for saving a bunch of us money Christine! I have to say though, judging from the swatch alone, it seemed promising (I mean, if I haven’t seen the grade first haha).
Christine I have seen your post for years, and I notice that in every one your skin looks flawless. You mentioned that you use guerlain parure gold foundation, but I can not find anywhere. Is it discountined or can you please tell me where do you get it??? Thanks in advance
They discontinued it 🙁 I’m trying to use up my bottles!
