Weekend plans – meeting my best friend’s son’s fiancee; best friend is having an open house tomorrow so we can all meet her! Hubs and I are planning to go to the wedding, which will be in INDIA – I am so excited because it’s one place I’d probably never have visited on my own! Beyond that, recovering from Xmas (we’ve got about 25 people coming for dinner in 6 hours!)
New Years Eve: a friend (40 years of friendship) who is on her own always comes to see in the New Year with us but this year, we have to leave at 4 am to take my youngest to the airport; he’s going to San Francisco for 4 months as part of his uni co-op placement! I warned friend who said she’d come with us (as she has to be at her mother’s fairly early on New Years Day) and then we can go out for brunch after son’s plane leaves and before we drop her at her mother’s which isn’t all that far from the airport, as the crow flies! Whoosh – I’m tired even typing this out!

From hubs, Clinique Moisture Surge Mask (that overnight moisturizing “mask” that people have raved about). From my daughter and son in law, a gift certificate for laser treatments for the broken capillaries on my face AND a bottle of Prada Infusion d’iris (I’ve now got 2 1/2, as I bought myself a gift set a few weeks back with my Shoppers Drug Mart “points”). The guests left about half an hour ago (it was fun but a ton of work and we have to rearrange a lot of furniture to accommodate everyone) and I’m enjoying the quiet!

Weekend plans: Mommy Car shopping. Our beat up old Saturn SL2 is just not so reliable anymore, and we need a larger vehicle. We’re hunting around the Mazda, Honda, and Subaru car dealerships today for a nice family-friendly crossover SUV. We’re also attending an Ugly Sweater/White Elephant Party tomorrow!
How are you ringing in the new year?: Seafood night with the family! Nothing high-mercury, of course. That’s bad for baby.

I absolutely the mirror. I really needed it, too, because we live in an extremely old house (built in 1810) and it’s awkward trying to find a big enough mirror with enough light to help out my makeup application! I’ve only used it for two days so far (yesterday and today) but it’s made such a huge, huge difference. Husband was sweet to gift me with it for Christmas. 🙂
PS – Car shopping went well! Now we have a brand-new Subaru sitting in our drive.

Haul: MAC Lightness of Being: Eyeshadows: Natural Vigor, Just Breathe, and Force of Nature. Uplifting blush, Perfect Topping MSF, Slate eye pencil, Beautiful Moves Mineralize Glass, and Modern Movement Nail Lacquer. Also picked up the Dr. Jart+ Premium BB Cream (amazing!), Nightmoth lip pencil, and Opulash mascara.
Weekend plans: CHAOS. My extended family and boyfriend are coming into town for New Years! I haven’t seen the boyfriend in six months, so I’m super excited!
How am I ringing in the New Year? A few friends, my boyfriend, and I are going out for a few drinks and some delicious food. We’re going to play Cards Against Humanity over drinks 😀
Big MAC haul, Estefania!! How are you liking the Lightness of Being collection?
It was a Christmas present to myself! 😀 I’m actually kind of loving it! Uplifting (which I bought intending to use it as a highlighter) actually shows up well on my skin, and I’ve been absolutely loving everything else! I missed out on Perfect Topping last time it was released and although it’s different this time around, it still looks lovely.
Another favorite is Force of Nature eyeshadow. It’s so lovely just buffed on the lid!
The Nightmoth lip pencil works to darken so many lip looks! It is definitely a keeper. I use more than I thought I would (goes great with dark shades like Sin and true reds like Ruby Woo alike).

Haul: I can’t believe i’m the only one to post this so far, LOL. I bought all 3 of the 50 Shades/MUFE sets. I couldn’t resist. I got a haircut at Ulta this week- first time using their salon and I was incredibly impressed. I didn’t buy any of the products she used on me, but I would like to go back and find out what they were. My hair smelled and looked amazing!
Plans: NONE! And I am so happy about that. I do want to go to the mall and make some returns that I have been pushing off to avoid the holiday craze lol.
NY Plans: Probably just go out with a few friends… kinda over the whole New Year’s as everything is always so hectic.

I’m most excited for the foundation! I was previously using the Giorgio Armani Maestro foundation but I had to return it because it showed so many dry patches on my face (even though I don’t have dry skin). I had received the Guerlain as a sample and fell in love!

Haul: I thought I’d gotten my Christmas gift early this year due to my graduation, but apparently I’m wrong. Where are my folks getting this money from?
Yves Saint Laurent Gloss Volupté in Terriblement Fuchsia, Gold, Or Rose, Nude Carat, Corail Lingot, Rouge Velours, and Fauve: They’re all very pretty colors and each fits my colossal lipstick collection. I’ll probably wear one of these December 31st.
Nars Vault: This one is hilarious! I entered the contest months ago…only to receive this for Christmas from a close relative. The hilarity!

Last year we stayed in and I made crabcakes for dinner. This year I’m thinking maybe I’ll make eggs benedict with a couple on the side in the morning. 🙂

Haul: UD Little Perversions Kit (Sephora sale!), metal lash comb, Sephora Classic Precision Liner Brush #92, Elizabeth and James Rollerball set, Hempz Couture Volumizing Shampoo & Conditioner Liters (Ulta Liter sale!), A Ray of Holiday Sunshine Rachel Roy EOS (Ulta sale), and Play it Big Dry Shampoo (Ulta sale). I also got a parcel from Ulta today with three Bed Head Oh Bee Hive! Dry Shampoos and hair tie sets. Shared with husband (he loves it!). I am stocking up on some of my favorites. Will not have to buy hair products for a year (and saved over $150 on hair products alone).
Weekend plans: Rest! The holidays are tiring.

Haul: I got a Sephora gift card from my brother, and my mom sent me some local brand mineral makeup (2 eye shadows and eye liner), local brand hypoallergenic lotion and soap, a crease brush, and a hand-made quilted makeup bag. She sells jewelry at craft fairs and buys a lot of stuff from the people around her 🙂
Weekend plans: doing some deep cleaning, gotta pull out the fridge and stove! Maybe going to a movie.
NYE plans: Possibly going to a brewery, but they want $50 per ticket and that doesn’t include any food or beverage! So prob staying home and having a James Bond movie marathon & lobster chowder like the last couple years.
Also last week you asked me if I’d tried Starlooks eye liner before and I never answered you oops! I hadn’t, but I heard good reviews from the people who got it in their November Ipsy bag, so I traded for it. I haven’t worn it yet though.

I have a couple ideas but nothing 100% decided. Maybe the Sephora Marsala cheek palette if it swatches ok on me (it’s warm-toned so it might not), Guerlain Meteorites Pearls, a nice angled cheek/contour brush, or another 3-pan of MUFE artist shadows.
Haul: I went to england recently so I’ve defs splurged a lot, mostly at boots and superdrug. Love british drugstores. Anyways, I bought barry m blushers in bl7, bl4, and what I think is either bl8 or bl1. two sleek blushers in flushed and pixie pink, a contour and highlight duo palette from seventeen, a lipstick from seventeen in roserie, a bourjois rouge edition lipstick in beige trench, a sleek eyeshadow palette in ultra mattes the brights version, a b.complete palette in 117 dead of night. And for my biggest splurge, a charlotte tilbury quad in vintage vamp.
Weekend Plans: Do laundry, and enjoy a break after the busyness of the trip, and enjoy turkey leftovers.

I adore it! I get the unscented. It absorbs instantly and really moisturizes the skin with no greasiness at all. And for super-dry skin, you can’t beat the Argan Balm — I use it on my hands and they stay soft all day.
Haul: Generous Christmas presents from husband and family. Aterlier Cologne mini discovery set (yay!) plus a gazillion perfume minis and samples thanks to stockpiled Sephora points. If it ever clears customs (plane has landed, but no delivery yet), 7 OCC Lip Tars, the Urban Decay Smoked/Theorodora/Glinda palettes, and Ocho Loco 2.
Weekend Plans: I should really clean my house. But realistically, I’m probably going to bum around playing Trivia Crack and surfing the internet.
How are you ringing in the new year?: Staying home with the husband. We’ll probably splurge on some genuine American junk food (!!!) and watch Netflix. Hopefully skype the family!

New Years Plans: Watch some cable flix (The dorkier the movie, the better, haha!), pop a bottle of chilled Prosecco, make air popped corn, bring Princess Leia, my sweet Cavalier Spaniel up to warm my lap. I’ll wear my flannel granny gown and fuzzy scuffs, lay out the fake fur throw and just go totally couch tuber until the Times Square ball drops, then it’s off to bed. The perfect New Years Party for the confirmed introvert, LOL! Have a happy and safe holiday, everyone!

How are you ringing in the new year?: Quiet romantic night in with my husband!
Haul: I overbought this week, but part of it was items I have bought in the past couple of weeks arriving in the mail. Too Faced Shadow Insurance primer, Benefit’s Pore-fessional, Laura Geller Eye Spackle primer and eyeshadow in Grey Gardens, Julep gel eye glider eye liner pencils in smoky plum, black, bronze, and taupe, Bare Minerals lipgloss in Sugar Cookie and Plumtini, Be A Bombshell eye base in Submissive, Mary Kay eyeshadow trio in Earth Bound, Bare Minerals eyeshadows in Phoebe, Black Ice, Velvet Green, Extreme Soul Sister, Masquerade, Extreme Moss, and Sugared Bronze. I received a Clarisonic brush for Christmas and I love it. I also bought Sephora Luminous Foundation Primer, and do not love it. LOL I can’t get past the shimmer and look that seems to overshadow even my foundation. Definitely not what I was looking for.
Weekend plans: Cleaning, working, trying to rest up from such a crazy Christmas week!
How are you ringing in the new year?: We usually don’t celebrate much actually, we are both working, my wife works overnight so we can’t even make plans for New Year’s Eve. I do enjoy watching the celebrations on TV so that will probably be my plan.

Haul: BareMinerals Two For The Show pigment set, Lancome Gloss In Love in Mocha Queen and Rose Oscar, Givenchy Ombre Couture in Corail Tentation and Guerlain Terracotta Powder. My mom also gave me some money to buy two of the new Tom Ford & the boys lipsticks (which is so sweet of her) and I like literally cannot decide which one to buy… I’m stuck between Beau, Patrick, Alexander, Addison, Collin, Cary and Matthew.
Weekend Plans: I’m cleaning the house a little, and I’m also trying to clean out my wardrobes and throw away all my old clothes before the New Year comes 🙂
New Year: I’m spending the night with my parents and we might invite my brother’s in-laws over for the evening. Nothing crazy to be honest, going out on New Year’s Eve is so expensive in the area where I live and as my mom said; “For that amount of money, I could buy myself a couple of bottles of new perfume.” And I totally agree with her on that one, so I guess that this New Year’s Eve, me and my mother will be perfume shopping 😀 heheh!
