Sneak Peek: NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette Photos & Swatches

NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette
NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette

NARSissist Dual-Intensity Eyeshadow Palette ($79.00 for 0.24 oz.) includes eight shades, seven of which are part of the permanent range (Ursa Major is, at this time, exclusive to the palette). Each eyeshadow is 0.03 oz., and full-sized versions are 0.05 oz. for $29, which makes the palette a $139 value in terms of amount of product, and in a more big picture way, to get eight shades would run you $232 (though they would be full-sized, just to be clear). I think this palette is an excellent way to try out NARS’ newer eyeshadow formula without completing breaking the bank. The eyeshadows felt and performed very much in line with their permanent counterparts (thus far) after swatching all of them and wearing about half of them (testing the other half today).

Ack! I ordered 6 of the single eyeshadows in November (they still haven’t shipped yet) and half of them are in this palette! Subra, Lysithia and Giove. Drat! I wonder if I could cancel those three and wait for the palette, since those three eyeshadows are close to the same price as the palette (I got them on the 20% off sale). I’m excited that they made a palette with this formula. The other three colors I chose are Cassiopeia, Callisto, and Phoebe.

I wonder if the quality of the shadows in the palette will be as good as the singles. Sometimes Nars palettes don’t perform as well as their singles. What do you think?

Pami Avatar

I’m sorry. I got so excited about the palette, and wondering about cancelling the three shades that I forgot that you wrote that. I’m going to see if I can cancel the three. I certainly don’t need the full sizes of them. I never dreamed Nars would release a palette of the Dual-Intensity.

I forgot to ask you which brush you use for a damp application. I’m LOVING my MAC 239 that you so highly recommended. It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for for so long. Would you use that one, or do you recommend something else?

Christine Avatar

I use the 239 with this and often use the 239 damp/wet. I pretty much use the 239 for most things, but I also like Chikuhodo’s GSN-09 and that Hakuhodo one… J242G? I think. They’re similar to the 239 but not quite the same. I rotate through those – whatever is clean/I happen to reach for – so they’re interchangeable for me! 🙂

…and to think I didn’t think I’d be compelled to buy another eyeshadow palette. I have five of the shades that are still brand new, and I feel quite partial to the singles due to their incredible petite packaging. But to have these shades, albeit less, for so much cheaper…I don’t know if I should be returning the singles to get the palette 🙁 what are your thoughts?!

Thanks for the sneak peek!

From your first impressions, did you find Ursa Major to be less pigmented/poorer in quality compared to the shades from the permanent range? From the swatches it seems less pigmented but I’d like to know your thoughts 🙂

omg, i’m sooo glad i didn’t pick up the singles during the Sephora VIB sale now! i’ve been eyeing these for a long time but choose to splurge on the MUFE artist shadows during the VIB sale! and maybe by feb, i can take myself back off the no buy from the Friends & Family/Black Friday/Cyber Monday madness….

This palette is so beautiful! I mean, you get what you pay for right? So I don’t think the price has to justify anything unless they don’t perform like the single shadows. I won’t be purchasing this, it’s too much shimmer for my liking but I love Nars everything!

rashmi Avatar

Even after my best frnds repeated recommendations I resisted … but this palette is deal breaker ..

I’m waiting for your full review but anyways convinced with calculation and swatches …
A big thanks to you 🙂

I was waiting and waiting for a kit to come out, but finally in caved and bought 2 of them during the Sephora sale, but even at 20% off, these are the most expensive shadows I have ever owned. I got Dion ( light champagne gold ) and Lysithea (the silver in the above kit). Both are pretty, the shimmer is very refined, and Lysithea is a gorgeous molten silver when applied wet, but still not sure if they are totally worth the price. I think that if I took some of my regular metallic shadows and used them dry or wet them, I could get a similar effect. And I wonder if Milani’s new foiled shadows can do the same for a fraction of the price.

Christine Avatar

It’s hard to say if something is worth the price, I think, when it is something that’s one of the more expensive items you own. There are many products that I love and don’t regret that are expensive, but I wouldn’t necessarily say they are WORTH IT! bar-none.

Bonnie Avatar

Oh my, just when I’d convinced myself that I didn’t NEED another eyeshadow palette. I don’t have any of the singles, so sounds like a great way to try this formula. Although I’m wondering if there might be a little too much shimmer for me.

The quality of NARS is phemoninal, but its crazy expensive! Even their sets and deals are still a little painful. I was thinking of getting their holiday blush set which consisted of quite a few shades but it was 65 at Sephora so I was like…meh. I keep waiting for them to come out with a set that I feel is totally worth getting, but this doesnt cut it either. :'(

Mariella Avatar

Absolutely love this and I’m pleased to learn that quality is equal to the regular single shadows. What a great way to get to sample a wide range of these and since I’ve never yet finished up (or even hit pan on, I’m ashamed to say) a single shadow, this is ideal for me, vs. buying several of the full sizes of these.

Allie Avatar

I’m glad I saw these! I think these are way too comparable to other shadows, especially urban decay. If this was $35 I’d consider it. Definitely not $78!

I feel as if I read somewhere this would be available at sephora Jan 1st for VIB Rouge members. Heard anything about that? I mean in less then week I will know. Not sure I want to wait for Feb…..but hate to miss out on the points. Haha!
