Burberry Gold Glow No. 01 Luminizing Powder Review, Photos, Swatches

Burberry Gold Glow No. 01 Luminizing Powder
Burberry Gold Glow No. 01 Luminizing Powder

Burberry Gold Glow No. 01 Luminizing Powder ($68.00 for 0.35 oz.) is a dirty, light-medium antique gold with a frosted sheen. Chanel Camelia de Plumes (LE, $76.00) is much lighter. Charlotte Tilbury Filmstar Glow (P) is warmer. Chanel Dentelle Precieuse (LE, $80.00) is warmer. Becca Opal (P, $38.00) is warmer, cream. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Despite the very true, yellowed gold packaging, Burberry’s take on “Gold” in terms of actual color is much lighter, and honestly, unexpected. It is fragranced with the My Burberry scent, which is a stronger floral (a mix of bergamot, freesia, and rose), and it’s not a subtle or faint scent, so if you don’t like scented powders or are adverse to floral scents in general, you may want to skip this. You might be able to minimize the scent by leaving the compact open for a few days. I did notice the scent when applied to the skin, but it didn’t seem to be apparent after about forty minutes of wear. The powder is lovely with its soft, silky consistency that blended beautifully and highlighted the skin without emphasizing pores. It gives the skin a luminous glow that is easy to achieve. On me, the highlighter wears well for nine hours before starting to fade. It includes a very slim, narrow yet wide, straight-across brush, which will work and isn’t the worst brush I’ve tried, though not something I would use if one already had full-sized brushes.

Christine – this is truly a BEAUTIFUL look on you. So far, nothing from Burberry has piqued my interest, but you are making me want both the highlighter and the lip gloss!!

Everything about this look is perfection! I had to go to see all the other products that you used to achieve this stunning result. Breathtaking in such a classic, elegant (but not too fancy) kinda way. Love it and will have to pick this up.

Amazing! The whole look is so festive & beautiful on you. Love the eyeshadow and lipgloss as well. I was hoping I could skip this as I already own so many burberry beauty items but, nope, cannot skip!

I respectively disagree that Burberry’s “take” on a gold highlighter is unexpected, especially when you consider the pairing with their new scent. It continues the theme of celebrating the trench. That shade is an interpretation of the gabardine used in their classic trench. I agree that it’s beautiful-mine is on order and I was thrilled to see a great review-I trust your opinion on beauty products!

A “Temptalia Recommends”!
Burberry and their festive gold lol so tempting.
I haven’t smelt the fragrance but I like freesias. Is there alcohol in the ingredients?

It’s definitely an interesting colour for a highlighter and I often find they pull warmer on me then I’d like, but considering I’ve been using the same Smashbox product to highlight with for 5 years (first and only highlighter I’ve ever bought haha) I am going to have to swatch this.

OOOO again, I must photograph and try mine on as soon as I can! This is BEAUTIFUL! I prefer this type of finish to something that is more metallic. Seems like Burberry did a GREAT job this season!

Wondering…. does it have a noticeable shimmer or glitter or is it just a sheen like tom ford shade and illuminate but obviously thats a cream highlight?

The combo of its uniqueness, the packaging, being LE holiday, and your seal of approval makes me want it. But the beigey silvery tones might look more dull/sooty than brightening on my super pale skin, what do you think? It looks so fantastic on you, like, seriously made for you!

Malia Avatar

Seriously gorgeous! I love it and the palette so much, I have a few Burberry things that while good, I don’t think were fantastic but these definitely look worth a splurge!

Very pretty. It’s nice to see a gold highlighter that isn’t dominated by yellow tones. It’s surprising how hard antique gold highlighters are to find. I have Chanel’s Camelia de Plumes, so I’ll be passing, but this is a gorgeous alternative for warmer skin tones.

Oh ..bad for my wallet! This is stunning on you! I have the Becca gold and I find it to look quite nice applied lightly and buffed/blended a little with a smaller brush. Also, have the CT filmstar..lovely. Becca opal..see a pattern here..addiction…:) But,this, although a ridiculous price, ugh! Any idea where it will be carried or is sold? I just saw that Nordstrom online says “unavailable”..is that sold out or not in yet? Not that i NEED this..but,it just bumped to the top of my makeup wants list for sure. Wow..the price though! I have nothing Burberry either. A Christmas gift to my self perhaps? Although, I said that was that Tom For “Velvet Orchid ” perfume I picked up amongst too much at the Sephora VIB sale. I too would love to see the entire “look” you have going on here and maybe some holiday looks for various occasions. You seem to be able to pull together a gorgeous, flattering ..but not over the top looks..wearable and pretty.

It looks like it has almost a taupe base to it, which I think makes it appear rather cool-toned despite the gold shimmer. I’d probably like it better as an eyeshadow than a highlighter, although the strong fragrance would just make my eyes water.

Oh Christine… Why did you have to give it such high rating… >_< I was hoping that I could avoid getting it, but seeing the swatches just makes me want it even more! And the eyeshadow palette too!
I just bought Bobbi Brown's Copper Diamond Shimmer Brick, do you think it's worth getting this Burberry highlighter too? Thanks!

Thank you so much for your great and so grateful review !!!!!!
I’m definitely loving this highlighter in all senses: gorgeous and relative uncommon color, very sophisticated packaging, amazing quality, and even price. I have already bought it, so that in a few days, it’ll be in my hands. I will use it at the New Year’s Eve party.

This is such a beautiful gold color! So pretty and subtle, not glaringly “gold” like others can be. But why, Burberry, did you have to scent it!? I fear my SUPER-sensitive skin won’t be able to handle that… I guess I just saved 70 dollars. :/ And it looks like I’m still on the hunt for a highlighter that’s subtle but not silver-y….
