The Scarlet Season: Rimmel Temptation Lipstick

Rimmel Temptation Lasting Finish Lipstick ($5.19) is a bold, ruby red with subtle red shimmer (very fine!). It’s creamy, opaque, and wears for a good four or five hours. Even when it does fade, it leaves behind a nice stain (as many reds often do), so you could always slick on some lipgloss for a softer red pout later on. As far as drugstore brands go, Rimmel’s lipstick impressed me with its staying power and rich color. It had a sweet scent that felt a little synthetic, and the packaging feels cheaper than what I like, but overall, it was pretty good for $5! (As I mentioned previously, Temptation is Rimmel’s blue-based red, while Alarm is their more orange-based red!)

What about you? Would you wear this red?

The Scarlet Season is a series of posts showcasing and featuring my favorite shades of red lips–from glosses to lipsticks that runs through December 2009. You can sure expect to see a lot of red this holiday season!

Hey Christine, have you done BeneFit’s Ruby Vibes yet for The Scarlet Season? That’s my favorite “easy” red shade – where you don’t have to be super fussy/perfect about your application.

I’m so confused! You say this: “Temptation is Rimmel’s blue-based red, while Temptation is their more orange-based red!” But you used the name Temptation twice! Which is which? Help, please!
Thanks!

I love the look of this! I’m more of a neutral girl and I’ve been wanting to try the bold look of red lipstick–I’m going to have to pick this up the next time I get some groceries. 🙂

Love love love Rimmel lipsticks! The taste of it can get a tad annoying but it’s really affordable and stays on well so it’s worth it. I bought Bordeaux the other day and I did see Temptation too. Had I know it was that pretty I would have probably got that one instead. I do like the one I bought though! It’s a dark burgandy, purplish color..the kind you see the ladies from the 1930’s. Really deep and gorgeous.

This one is hot and it is one of my favourite drug store brands in red you have shown. Although you have shown so many, lots started to look the same but I have enjoy this series though.
