I saw that ad from UD this morning and my first thought was: wow, that was fast. I’m wondering if UD fans are finally hitting Naked-esque burnout since there’s a lot of overlap between the Naked palettes and this.

Quinctia Avatar

Plus, it’s a Naked-esque palette without the Naked name, so I think the folks that are really into the Naked palettes might not have noticed this one!

I thought of getting this palette when it first came out but it seemed rather pricey for what it was (especially compared with the Naked palettes). I opted for Naked2Basics instead and now I’m so glad I did because I’d be kicking myself now because of the sale price). $41 for 4.5 shadows, none of which was “must have unique” seemed pricey and I figured it was for the licensing rather than for the product itself. So I’m glad I was able to snag this on sale.

We might be seeing an influx of brighter, more colourful palettes from Urban Decay. It’s funny that they’ve recently rebranded, but their famous eyeshadows have just taken a back seat. They used to also come out with a lot more palettes before.

Ammara Avatar

You’re most likely right. I was just giving a general comment after seeing this palette again, which I think they could have done more with, given their past of colourful palettes.

I do love neutrals more, but with pops of colour, so I’m hoping they do a Naked4 but introduce a new generation of “neutral” “colours”, like wearable shades of purple mixed with taupe and maybe even some green thrown in. That would be the best end to the Naked palette line. One can dream.

I’d love for them to just come up with something new myself. Not to say go Electric 2, Electric 3, etc. but 8-12 palettes with neutrals and colors together. Things like Vice3 are cool, but I’d love to see something more edited and compact! I don’t really care what they call it, though 😉 The reality is UD puts out 3-5 palettes a year, lol!

I really think this palette is so worth it (and not because of the package/theme). I just think this palette is so perfect, simple and basic, but really well done. I think Vengeance is a real special and unique shade. And Righteous is the perfect brightening neutral base shade. I hope they release them on their own one day! Also, I wish this colors were added to Naked Basics 1, it would make it perfect! Thought I’m unhappy is on sale so fast (after purchasing it just “recently” at the original price), I’m happy because I can get myself a back up!

I wanted the Pulp Fiction palette when it came out, however it wasn’t worth full price in the least bit. But I went into Sephora today to pick it up for $16. Yay!!

Sarah Avatar

I ordered this off Ulta because I can do a mostly dupe palette for 16$ if the quality is good! But I was chatting with the girl who does my brows at the Ulta Brow Bar and she said that she was the one who packaged up the Pulp Fiction displays. She said that she wasn’t sure they’d sold many palettes at all. I’m wondering if it just didn’t sell all that well.

At least now I have another little portable neutrals palette! I think that and the flawless Vice 3 will be accompanying me on vacation!

Although Pulp Fiction is one of my favourite movies, I so don’t need this palette =\ But on this note, $16 ($19 CAD) is what it should’ve been priced at before! $45 or whatever it was before was seriously exorbitant when you think about how much shadow you get in this compared to a Naked palette (or even a Naked Basics). Talk about paying for branding!

Lotus Avatar

Indeed! This movie grossed billions and will always be one of the greatest epic films remembered, especially for its direction and cinematographically making it absolutely beautiful to watch despite the subject matter, which, all in all, IS “pulp fiction.” By definition. (Can you imagine I’m one of the ones who have it memorized?) 😉 Back then, just conning video rental stores into giving you Pulp Fiction Posters raised problems. Wherever they can, they will capitalize on this. It did so much for the movie industry! It REALLY got Tarantino noticed.. Ever see his relatives? Their movies? Yeah.. There’s money involved for lots of things, Christine. I also don’t think many understood the palette to get it.. It was a small part of a movie one would think cosmetics would not replicate.. Mia Wallace made it possible in a legal way, probably the only legal way, considering subject entirety.. Otherwise, I’d love to mastermind a grand Pulp Fiction Palette!!! There IS so much potential! What is going on with urban decay!??? Sorry, I’lol stop now. Thanks for reading 🙂

I sort of agree with you about the price, Amanda. When I was wobbling between this and the Naked2Basics, the SA was trying to steer me toward Pulp Fiction because “it’s limited edition” but it struck me as awfully pricey too ($41 CDN) for what it was. I’d be kicking myself now if I’d paid full price for it but, as you know, makeup rarely goes on sale in Canada (the department store brands, that is) and UD doesn’t ship here (nor does TooFaced) so even when they have sales on their sites, we’re still left out of the loop!

Lulubelle Avatar

Ulta has the palette on sale online as well (but not the polish), so I picked one up after hemming and hawing a while. All the glowing reviews swayed me in the end, plus I was surprised to see it on sale so soon!

Mariella Avatar

Okay, this is freakin’ crazy! Stuff is rarely, rarely, rarely on sale in the Sephora stores here in Canada, something I find most annoying. I was going to wait and call my local store tomorrow to see if the Pulp Fiction palette was, in fact, on sale (I know they’ve got several of them left – I checked when I was in there this past week because I’ve been seriously vacillating on this one). Seeing the price here in Canada on sale – $19 – made the decision for me. But then I thought “What if it’s still full price in store?” (it happens a lot) and so I decided to order online before the sale ones were all gone, which I’m sure will be pretty soon. So I – the woman who loathes ordering online – just ordered and got 3 samples AND another 100 point bottle of Algenist Anti-Aging Oil (I’ve now got 4 of these, which is roughly the size of one full bottle which retails for $99 here in Canada!). And of course how that all my info is on record at Sephora, ordering more sale stuff will be easy peasy (maybe not such a good thing!). But with free shipping, it’s pretty much win/win.

Thank you so much for the “heads up” about this, Christine. I’d have missed it entirely if not for this “alert”.

Lotus Avatar

Yeah.. I got an email regarding this. I still feel in a dumb daze. I bought it at full price.. These changes mean they ARE MAKING PLENTY OF MONEY by SELLING AT SUCH A LOW PRICE.. So in reality, NOTHING THEY SELL IS WORTH PRICEPOINT! 🙁 It pisses me off. Maybe I’ll buy more to sell. Lol. My mind can’t do simple things. I’d feel bad to do a return and switch.. I’m just ranting due to this.. Lame UD.. Lame. But nice of you to spare A FEW neutral shades at an affordable price for others who can’t afford any of your eyeshadows! You’ve done good letting more people in. Thanks for the screw. You messed it up anyway by not including the golden glow of the briefcase.. And the $5 shakes. I’m blowing raspberries at you.

Lauri Everlove Avatar

ugh… I went to Sephora on Friday and loved the creaminess of these shadows and I do not own any UD eyeshadows except for Smokin Palette so I bought it and the Mrs Mia Wallace lipstick. I love them both but kind of irritated it went on sale immediately after I bought it. Maybe I will buy one for my daughter, I really like the colors in this palette!

Emilie Avatar

Okay, I’m caving on the polish! I wanted it when it first came out but couldn’t justify the price tag, $5 is more than reasonable! 😀 As for the palette, the packaging is so cool and collectable but I have dupes of the shades. Plus, I do like Pulp Fiction, but it’s not my favorite movie ever, can’t justify that one :/

I’m super pumped about the polish, though, I think this set was a really great idea and totally unique, I’m all for themed makeup and celebrating iconic movies! 🙂
