Exciting shades? I think they were supposed to represent the lipsticks worn by the cast, and they are just red and burgundy shades. Franknfurter wore just a basic really dark red. The pigments seem to represent the costumes, like the gold and black glitter. Not sure if people wanted the lip shades to represent the costumes but that would have been unwearable for the general population… What did you expect, gold lipstick? Cmon guys.

I like it. I like that the shadow palette seems wearable and not too crazy, but it does represent the dark eye shadow colors worn by the RHPS cast, Frankfurter himself wore basic really dark eye shadow and the girls had burgundy eye shadow with black. Though I would have liked to see at least one wild lipstick shade, like a black glittery one.

Ooh that Carbon looks rough! I will be alone here… but I still don’t know why everyone Isaiah blindly excited by this collection! Normally people whine and moan when a launch has this many permanent products. I adore RHPS but this could look much better (just my opinion of course).

Karla Avatar

Glad im not the only one,i was starting to feel like a weirdo :/ this collection doesnt tempt me at all… Those eyeshadow colors look sad, hate the packaging, but i also cant spent on any makeup as i really need some good makeup brushes (i only have 4!)

xamyx Avatar

Carbon *always* looks rough, LOL! I only have it as a permanent single, which I bought 5+years ago, and I may have used it only 3X… As for the rest of the collection, I thought I may be interested in the pigment, but it’s far too warm. I not a fan of the movie, either, so that didn’t even pique my interest. Besides, the collection on a whole has a strong 70s vibe (consistent with the film), but not in a way that’s a modern translation.

I’m so excited! I thought I would only be interested in the lipsticks, but dang I like everything else too! If I can’t get it online, I’m so taking off work to stalk the local MAC store!

Andie Avatar

SQUEAL!!! Thank you so much Christine! I need Strange Journey in my life ASAP. Kind of digging Frank-N-Furter too. I totally love the boxes and packaging as well! I feel justifiably excited now!

Veronica Avatar

They’ve definitely got the look, but somehow it still feels uninspired. Maybe because you’d expect a bigger collection for such a big cult flick?

Johanna Avatar

Oh man, I really wanted one just for the packaging. The lipstick shades seem pretty basic though – I have dupes for all of these. Frank-n-Furter looks like repackaged Ruby Woo, and Strange Journey looks like Morange only matte or a toned-down Lady Danger. Not excited about the eye palette colors at all 🙁 If I were to go there I guess I would pick up MAC Sin; I have Wet n Wild Cherry Bomb which is supposed to be a dupe for it and I like the shade enough now I could upgrade to something better quality.

Lizzi Avatar

I’m glad (for my wallets sake!!) to say I’m not interested in any of this. I know I will have to purchase Bad Fairy though. I love it and could use another bottle for back up.

Estefania Avatar

How….. underwhelming. Everything I was interested in looks awfully generic… The lipsticks don’t look unique at all. I was hoping they’d throw in some blue pearl or something to make them more interesting! I also wanted the It’s Not Easy Having A Good Time pigment, but it looks too orange now… I was hoping for a dark red/burgundy color…. Thanks for saving me money, Christine! haha 🙂

Mary Avatar

I have been absolutely dying to see you review this collection! My best friend and I need Frank-n-Furter for name alone (also it looked a bit more wine or berry in a photo I had seen on the trendmood1 instagram…), but I’ve been really curious about Oblivion as I’ve yet to get myself a nice glossy red and the amplified finish seems so promising for that. Please tell me you’ll have reviews up before they hit online on Monday!

Georgina Avatar

I’m not excited by this launch. I don’t like the packaging and the products are not impressing me in terms of shades or formula. More money for holiday collections I guess!

Eliz Avatar

This all seems a little mainstream and tame for a MAC/RHPS collaboration. Something just seems a little wrong with Frank-n-Furter being a proper red. Franki-Woo anyone?

Sisi Avatar

this is extremely underwhelming to me! the lipsticks are nice, but nothing really stands out to me! the eye palette is probably the most disappointing because of that carbon! they need to stop including it in these palettes!

Mariella Avatar

You are so right. They keep throwing Carbon into just about every palette and it’s not like they’ve done anything to make it a better eyeshadow. IMO, it’s not that great to start with and all these LE versions seem worse than the predecessors!

Brenda Avatar

well that iteration of Carbon is pathetic, but the rest of it looks good! I’m pleasantly surprised with how I feel the colours do Rocky Horror some justice 😉

Meghan Avatar

I think I need that Riff Raff palette! I love the 6 shadow palettes that MAC puts out, like last years MAC x Rick Baker for Halloween 2013. I don’t think the Monster’s Bride palette was given near enough credit – it was absolutely gorgeous (neutrals!) and awesome for travel! The only thing is I wish MAC wouldn’t include Carbon in everything 😐 but it does the trick for setting a black eye liner. It’s still overdone.

Ruca Avatar

*audience* “Describe your balls, Chucky!!”

*Charles Gray as The Criminologist* “Heavy, black, and pendulous…”

OH YES, the sword of Damocles is hanging over my head, and I’ve got a feeling someone’s gonna be cutting the thread… if I don’t get this entire collection.

Thanks for the swatches! LOVE them. So excited for all of it! I actually think Heavy, Black, and Pendulous” is one of the prettiest colors in that palette, too. Don’t even mind the perms and repeats!! As Frankenfurter would say, “Don’t dream it, BE IT!!” Thank you, I plan to. 🙂

Mariella Avatar

Liking the look of the first 3 lippies and also of Graphic Style but not enough to buy the palette. That glitter – ugh. And double “ugh” on the packaging. It may be the Rocky Horror “logo” but it really looks awful on the boxes and containers/cases.

Susan Avatar

I feel stupid, but what’s an “amplified” finish? If it’s a MAC-specific thing, that would explain why I haven’t heard of it – I don’t buy MAC very often. Can someone explain?

Sarah Avatar

I’m not a fan of the Rocky Horror Picture show and so I won’t be getting any of these. I might take a look at the eye shadow palette…. do I really need another palette?

Kari Avatar

i’m so underwhelmed by this collection tbh. i thought the lipsticks would wow me more than they do. the only one i’m really interested in is sin, which i can get anytime. also the palette just looks like they threw a bunch of colors together (though that blue is really pretty lol).

nueyork Avatar

I really love the colour selection in the palette as I’ve wanted a lilac, a deep reddish brown and a dark blue for a long time and they don’t usually come together. I wish the quality was there though, they’re not the pigmentation I would like.

SmittenKitten Avatar

I find the packaging and colours a bit pedestrian for such a garishly colored cult classic. It could have been done a lot wilder and sexy. They are really keeping it safe with these products.

Helene Avatar

I might be the only one who like the pigment, thinking of it being what I’ll get from this LE. I’ll wait for the reviews before saying anything about the lipsticks. I do like the look of them, and as I really like the film, I’d want at least one 🙂
The palette seems a bit uneven.

Samantha Avatar

Via the MAC chat, a MUA told me that it *might* be out today and to keep checking back. There were “delays” yesterday. I have been stalking since yesterday morning and nothing. With my luck, it will become available when I have appointments today. I love Rocky Horror and even watched it to get pumped up for the collection. Now nothing.
