The Scarlet Season: Lancome Absolute Rouge Lipstick

Lancome Absolute Rouge Lipstick ($29.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a creamy bright red with just a hint of orange in it. It’s part of the L’Absolu Rouge line-up, which is Lancome’s more luxe lipstick–it has Pro-Xylane, which is a “complete and powerful replenishing molecule.” One of the cornerstones of the L’Absolu Rouge line-up is “rich, satiny, saturated color,” as well.

This is definitely a very creamy, smooth lipstick that goes on easily and looks opaque in just one layer. I found this one didn’t bleed on me (though not too much does, just a heads up–I’m not the best person to test for that!), and I found it pretty easy to get a defined look without a lip brush. I’d say this lipstick lives up to a lot of the claims Lancome makes — the shade is richly pigmented, has a beautiful satiny look, and there’s no way to say this color isn’t saturated.

It’s also very moisturizing without having a lot of slip. I’ve noticed that some lipsticks that are very moisturizing also glide and move around a bit–and may even have a tendency to bleed–but this one stays put. I get about five or six hours of wear with this shade, too!

What about you? Would you wear this red?

The Scarlet Season is a series of posts showcasing and featuring my favorite shades of red lips–from glosses to lipsticks that runs through December 2009. You can sure expect to see a lot of red this holiday season!

I tried one of their shades. It was almost a metallic red. It was sooooo unique and pretty but I could do $35CAD for a lipstick. It might have been this one. Ps. What is the name of the colour itself? I think absolute rouge us the type of lipstick. I could be wrong though.

I got this lipstick in this exact shade for TEN FREAKING DOLLARS all by chance at a Marshall’s(that store can be so amazing_. I don’t use it often for I prefer a complete matte red. But then again, it only stays on me for an hour. I wish I had your lips! They are gorg.
