Dolce & Gabbana Gold Shine Lipstick Review, Photos, Swatches

Dolce & Gabbana Gold Lipstick

Holiday Dazzle:  Dolce & Gabbana Gold Lipstick

Dolce & Gabbana Gold Shine Lipstick ($30.00) is a shimmery, shiny dose of bronzy-copper with flecks of coppery gold. This is not really a shade that works best alone but as a layering tool. This is a great lipstick to layer to achieve a warmer, brighter, or more shimmery lip color. It works particularly well under semi-sheer to sheer red-based lipglosses! It is semi-opaque, actually, because it does significantly cover lips, but since it’s more shimmer than lip color, it can look patchy on its own if you’re not careful.  Even though it’s a shade I’d wear with other products, it can still be worn alone since it has decent coverage.  Dolce & Gabbana lipsticks are very creamy, smooth, and always last a good four to five hours on my lips.

I think your conclusion is certainly accurate based on the swatches and photos. Not something I would wear alone, and for $30 I’d definitely want it to be able to stand on it’s own. So not something I would purchase. But I can definitely see it being pretty paired with the right gloss or another lipstick even.

It’s really standout with reds the most, but it’s interesting under plummy and berry shades as well!

I agree at $30 it is pricey for a layering product (though about right for Dolce & Gabbana), but then again, I know lots of us purchase lipsticks that are sheer and enjoy them that way, too! At the end of the day, though, I very rarely wear any lip color alone, haha. I always end up layering!

This is the first metallic lipstick I have seen that isn’t frosty. It looks like shimmer in a sheer base. I think it’s worth $30 for that alone.

I think it looks lovely, but for $30.00.. urg.. It’s completely out of my budget.
Is there any other lipstick from a more affordable brand (like MAC) that has a similar shade? At least from your opinion.
Thank you in advance Christine!

Wow. You know, the picture of the lipstick itself made me think that it was going to look really weird. But seeing it on the lips… it’s actually very pretty!

It’s a gorgeous gold, but I would wear it over another lipstick like you did on the last pic Christine. I think it’s too shimmery to wear alone. Or I would put it just on the middle of my bottom lips for a little highlight.
