Conair Infiniti Pro 3Q Hair Dryer Review & Photos
Conair Infiniti Pro 3Q
Conair Infiniti Pro 3Q ($119.99) is a new, upcoming hair dryer slated for launch this September at retailers like Ulta, Target, etc. It’s big promises are that it “reduces drying time by up to 70%,” “40% less noise with patent-pending noise reduction technology,” and the brushless motor means that the “life of the dryer[is extended] by up to 10x.” Conair says it has 19,000 revolutions per minute compared to 16,000-18,000 for standard AC/DC motors. It also uses ionic and titanium ceramic technology. There are three heat settings, two speed settings, and a cold button.
I’m a long-time fan of T3’s Featherweight series of blow dryers, and their various models have been my go-tos for years now. I was very curious to see how this top-end model from Conair would compare to my T3s. The Infiniti Pro 3Q dries down my hair enough within 10 minutes that it’s mostly dry (I have a lot of hair–my last hairdresser said I had enough hair for three people–and it is thick), and it keeps the frizz and fly-aways at bay overall. I used it with its regular nozzle as well as the larger diffuser (but you need to attach one or the other, as it’s like being in a wind tunnel otherwise!). I didn’t like how either attached, because you have to pop it in or out with some force, and it caused a lot of the interior paint to chip. My heavier hair did cause the larger diffuser to occasionally pop off (once every other use). I wish they screwed on rather than popped in and out.
It is a lot quieter than my hair dryer from high school, but it doesn’t seem much quieter than most of the updated, mid-end to high-end dryers on the market. I can’t really measure it other than just how it sounds to me, but it wouldn’t occur to me to describe it as quiet. It was fairly lightweight and comfortable to hold in the hand, though the handle could have been a bit longer to avoid accidentally changing one of the settings while in use. I really liked that the cold button would lock in place, rather than having to press and hold.
There is a major downside to the Pro 3Q that makes it a complete deal-breaker for me, which is that due to my longer hair, it gets sucked into the back of the dryer (the opposite of where the air comes out). When it sucks big clumps of hair, it just sits there on the exterior (there’s a grate about 3/4″ inside the back that goes across) and reduces air flow and is more annoying than anything else, but when it gets a few strands, it yanks and pulls the hairs into the dryer. This happened constantly to me, but I have longer hair than average, I would say, so it may not be a problem if you have shorter hair.

I’ll stick with air drying!
I wish I could do this, haha! It seriously takes ALL DAY!
Oh no, I’m guessing this is not for me. I need bigger hair dryers to avoid my hair getting sucked in (my hair is about waist-length now), and this one doesn’t look like it’s going to cut it! It’s so frustrating and painful to have to cut the poor hair off because it got sucked in 🙁
I am just so thankful that it never required me to break out the scissors, but it was like, “WHAT! OWW!”
I’ve never been able to pull the hair back out, and in any case, it’s way fried. I’m definitely sticking to LARGE hair dryers.
Aww, oww!!
My current hair dryer sucks my hair in if I’m not careful- SO glad I’m not the only one this happens to! I continue to have a love/hate relationship with long hair, lol.
It’s SO annoying when it happens! I’ve been using the T3s for so long that I didn’t even realize it was a thing that could happen, lol!
i know that feeling of your hair being sucked into the back! hurts so bad! im a big fan of the T3 as well! i purchased one just last year, the Featherweight Luxe 2i, its really wonderful! its costly, but if you can catch it at sephora during 20percent off sale, its not as bad! i have very long hair and extremely thick… it works very well! make sure u buy the correct diffuser, different diffusers for the different versions! 😉
Love, love T3. Been using them for years, so I didn’t know that getting your hair sucked into the back was… something that really happened, lol!
I wonder what it is about the design that makes it grab your hair easily?
No idea 🙁
Ok, reading the other comments it seems like a long hair problem in general so I guess it’s only dumb luck that I’ve never had that happen!
LOL! Same for me. I’ve heard of it happening, but I didn’t think it was as common as it seems to be.
I have a Conair that I love (and needs replacing) so I was excited to see this review, but sucking in hair? Nope, that’s a deal breaker for me as well! I have thick hair that’s usually around my shoulders and I really don’t appreciate having it sucked it/caught by my hair dryer. Sad this was the case here. The search goes on!
I can’t remember the last time I’ve had it happen, so I had a very confused look on my face the first few times it did!
How does the weight compare to the Featherweight? My current Infiniti Pro is great but it’s too heavy to do a blowout on my curly hair.
T3 feels a bit lighter, though this didn’t feel particularly heavy to me.
Thankfully my hair is so fine (and curly although there’s a lot of it) it dries within half an hour after washing it, so I’ve never been into blow drying my hair. I’m seriously lacking in skills in that area anyway. The downside is I look like part dandelion. I’ve just ordered one of those Instyler ceramic shell thingies that I saw on TV as it looks as if it could be of use to those of us who are challenged in the art of hairstyling. Have you tried these Christine?
Btw, Your hair always looks great Christine, I was just wondering if you’d come across these in your travels……
Thank you! 🙂
I haven’t tried those! I’m really not much of a hair person… I just can’t get into it. I think it requires more hand-eye coordination than I have, lol!
I’m always on the hunt for a decent hair dryer that doesn;t break the bank! I don’t believe in spending $100+ on hair tools, really!
What hair dryer do you use now?
Thank you! I’m so happy you added in the comment about your hair getting sucked up into the fan. That’s probably the worst feeling in the world! The only dryer that hasn’t had that happen for me, personally, is a Chi Pro (low emf model). It literally takes my hair +7 hours to completely dry but I’ll stick to washing my hair being an all day event! Drying leaves it far too frizzy and wild. 😛
I usually do 5-10 minutes of blow drying, then I let it finish naturally, because honestly, I can’t stand there for longer than that, haha.
I am not into hair dryers and let them air dry.. but I am planning to get one… though this seems to be quite a pestering one.. sucking in hair is so dreadful.. 🙁
By the way, Which is your favorite hair dryer?
T3 Featherweight!
LOL, I only air dry my hair (and I have fine hair that is incredibly dense and reaches to my butt – I have enough hair for probably ten people), and I can sympathise with it taking FOREVER! The problem with blow drying for me is that I can only use cold, as my fine hair hates heat, so it takes pretty much as long.
Also, when you got to the part about sucking in hair and yanking, all I read from then on was ‘Nopenopenopenopenopenopenopenope…’ 😉
Oh my goodness, I can only imagine how long it would take with cold air, lol!
