Holiday Makeup: Gold & Greens
Hey, Ma! I did a look! So it’s been a couple of weeks since the Lady Gaga inspired look which totally wreaked havoc on my eyes, but my eyes seem to be recovered now. (They were swollen for a few days, and then they proceeded to just be itchy/red and consequently dry and flaky afterward. You know, generally unpleasant.) I thought I’d try to do something holiday-esque, but maybe not the most typical holiday look (err… at least, my typical holiday look) of golds, cranberries, and red lips.
P.S. – Lashes are looking a little beat-up, because I was testing out a new mascara, wasn’t loving it, tried to layer another mascara over… and yeah, not the best idea. Lesson learned = don’t test new mascara when you’re doing an actual look!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Goldmine eyeshadow (true gold), Bio-Green eyeshadow (medium green), Humid eyeshadow (dark green), Bottle Green eyeshadow (dark green-blue), Femme-fi eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), Smashbox Wish Pencil Eyeliner (dark green-blue), Urban Decay Honey 24/7 Liner (gold), too many mascaras (so ignore the lashes, they’re terrible)
- Face: Kiehl’s Tinted Moisturizer in Medium
- Cheeks: Dior Coral Riviera blush (coral-pink), Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer (bronzy highlighter)
- Lips: Guerlain Gems lipstick (coral), Guerlain Perle de Lune lipgloss (pearly beige)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Femme-fi = Shroom
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, pack Goldmine eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Bio-Green eyeshadow to the middle and outer portions of the lid. Darken crease with Bottle Green eyeshadow using the 226, then deepen the outer lid with Humid eyeshadow. Sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Honey Liner on lower waterline and Smashbox Wish Pencil Liner on the lower lash line. Apply mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Dior Corial Riviera blush using the 129, then highlight with Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer with the 188. Apply Guerlain Gems lipstick to lips, and then top with Guerlain Perle de Lune lipgloss for color and shine.

This is my… “OMG I DID A LOOK FINALLY FACE!”
Oh, that gold is gorgeous! Happy to see another look from you! 🙂
I’ve always wondered how you line your lower lashline. It’s such a nice narrow line (as opposed to the racoon eyes I end up with when I try it). Do you use a brush or just do it with the pencil?
Hey Roxanne,
Thank you! I just use the pencil. I’m far too lazy to do much else, LOL! I make sure to keep the pencil sharp, and I look up while I do it!
Thanks for the tips! I’ll try them out soon.
I’ve always wondered this too!!! I can’t get a neat line without using some makeup remover to clean in up!
Christine, I am in love with this. It’s absolutely gorgeous.
Will send you the Warm and Cozy swatches this evening!
Thanks so much, Emily!
Can’t wait!
very pretty! green looks beautiful on you and i love the gold on your waterline.
So glad you liked it! Thanks, Yvette!
I love it! It brings out a little green in your eyes 🙂
Thanks a ton, Sarah 😀
This look is just gorgeous!!! Love the gold and the lips!!!
Thanks, Andrea!
Love this look! The colors are amazing, and I like how you used a gold pencil on your lower lashline.
Thanks a lot, Chiara! 😀
Love the look!! Sorry about the eye irritation. I have had that for a few weeks now!! Cold or allergies. Yuck. I put on my MAC yesterday and today I feel like I could itch my eyes off. I will be sans makeup for a while.
Thanks so much, Heather!
Oh no!! I hope you recover soon — it’s such a pain, isn’t it? Totally understand 🙁
Pretty!!! How about a look using purples? 🙂 Thanks!
Thanks, Mary!
You are really gorgeous with this makeup Christine 🙂 It’s such a lovely makeup, too bad I’m not so talented when it comes to blue and green shades.
Thank you, Tavia 🙂
Just keep practicing!
Love this look on you – the green makes everything so happy looking if you know what I mean?
Thanks a lot, J! 🙂 I love green, too – definitely a cheery color!
Aaw, this is gorgeous! 🙂 Well done to you for doing a look! Yay!
Thank you, Anita! 😀
Nice to see another look and OOH! All eye colors I have, score! Aww your thumbs up picture is adorable 🙂 Hey, quick question: is there a reason you haven’t done the full-face pictures with your lids down recently? Those tended to be my favorites with the looks, seeing the full effect of both the eyeshadow blending and the look within the face. Maybe you’ll do those again sometime?
But yeah, this color combo is gorgeous. Bright but more subdued than your tropical looks that have chartreuse. And ohhh…I caved and finally bought Gems. Signature color for sure. I shouldn’t have splurged and will have to be *really* good this month, but it sure is lovely.
Thanks, Daphne! 🙂
I try to take ’em, but they usually turn out like trash, so I don’t keep any of the ones I take, LOL!
Ahhh, Gems!! I love it so. I am determined to buy a backup!
Hol @ Cristine!!, I’m from Mexico and took some time following your work is simply outstanding, I love your combinations of shadows, and this is to be congratulated for this post …. A hug Cristine, and right now I’m feeling as if he wrote to an artist … Eh tried writing before, but the comment is not saved for some reason, I hope to see my comment on your spectacular site.
Thank you so much, Lizet! 🙂
Pretty! I like the yellows and the greens together.
Thanks, Amy!
I love this look! It looks amazing!!!
Can you do a tutorial please?
Thanks, S! I’ll try!
ok…WHAT ARE YOU WEARING? i love the shade of grass green and the eyelet detail!
It’s a random top from Forever 21 from yearsss ago, LOL!
Glad to see you again!!! Great look.
This is GORGEOUS! But, there was a time a little while ago when you’d also include a little hand swatch of each color you used. Do you think you could do that again? I know it totally helps me when trying to recreate looks, because I try to replicate each color with what I have already. And I don’t know if most of us know what pro or limited edition colors like Bio Green and Bottle Green look like.
Thanks, Mariah!
I think I’ve only done that a handful of times, but I’ll try to do it in the future if I have time!
Hi Christine,
great look!You look gorgeous!
I am just wondering…how come the Lady Gaga look irritated your eyes so much? I was planning to try it and i am thinking now that i should not.Let me know what you think! Thanks!
Thanks so much, Eliana!
I have a really sensitive upper lash line – whenever I wear liner on it, my eyes go funky, and the Lady Gaga look had the liner + false eyelashes, sooo, I paid for it, LOL! It’s very unusual and definitely nothing universal.
Hey Christine
I actually did a look very similar to this last week…
I dont know if you remember but in one of your Q&A posts, I asked if practice really makes perfect.. & I guess it does because I am way better now.
Just thought I would leave a pic to… the only pic I took that day lol

That’s gorgeous, Andrea!! 🙂
Thankx!!
That means a lot coming form you.
lovely Christine..it’s so bold and festive 😉
Thanks, Bettina!
what gave your eyes the bad reaction? was it a particular product?
glad you’ve recovered!!
My eyes are just really sensitive whenever I use a gel or liquid liner on my eyelid/upper lash line. I think it was a combination of using the liner on the upper lash line as well as having the false eyelashes on it, too. I hardly wore the look (maybe an hour or less), but I sure paid for it, LOL!
I wouldn’t say it’s a particular product or a universal reaction at all – just my silly eyes being stupidly sensitive!
This look is soooo nice! You know, I usually don’t believe that certain shades enhance eye color, but I swear this look makes your eyes look really gorgeous! Can’t wait to see more looks. 🙂
Aww, thank you so much, Michelle!
omg what skincare did you use to get your skin like this? i know its only tm you have on and it looks flawless!!!!!
Let’s see… right now, I’ve been using:
PerriconeMD Face Finishing Moisturizer (AM), but I don’t really like it (or hate it) – it just doesn’t do anything for me, really… Prior to this, I was using Korres’ Rose Moisturizer, which I did like. I also use Mario Badescu’s SPF 30 for face for SPF.
Korres Materia Herba/Kiehl’s Rare Earth Cleanser (AM)
Chanel Exfoliating Mousse (PM)
L’Occitane Creme Divine (PM) – like PerriconeMD, it’s good, but I’m not loving it; it’s not as moisturizing as I need for my skin during winter at night time.
Very very nice,Christine!
But you need MarioSheeno lipstick here or something even more coral!
Thanks, Whirl!
I always do a brighter coral, so I thought I’d try to switch it up for once 🙂
You look so cute and innocent lol. You’re really excellent at blending. I’m loving this holiday look!!
Thanks so much 😀
yey thumbs up!!! very pretty, you look so nice!!!
Thank ya, Luisafer!
How pretty! I hope this doesn’t sound creepy but I love the way you smile in your pictures. ^^’ It’s nice to see someone not trying to be “sexy~” or “fierce~” in their photos. You look like you’re genuinely having fun with makeup. 😀 And your skin looks ridiculously awesome, btw.
Thanks, NaNa! LOL! You should see me trying to be fierce, it is marginally hilarious.
great look. i like how you’re makeup matches your outfits. it works really well.
Thank you, Lorna 😀
I love green and gold looks, this looks really pretty and festive. Honey was the first UD eyeliner I bought so I have a special love for it and love using it during the holidays. I like your shirt.
Thanks, Rosie 🙂
Honey is great <3
Wow this is a great holiday look! I especially love the gold on the waterline! Gorgeous!
Thank you, Lisa!
Look amazing!! Do you think I can use the Photo Realism quad to copy this look?
Thanks, Sandra! 🙂 Definitely! It might not be as bright green, but it’ll get you close.
Oooh pretty! I have some greens – UD colors + a gloMinerals one – but I didn’t know how to pair them together! lol it was more of an inpulse buy due to UD F&F sale, but long story short, I didn’t know how to pair them together, but now I do, so thank you!!! XD I know the colors aren’t much like the MAC ones, but seeing how different shades of green can be layered looks so interesting!
I’m thinking..
– UD Green Goddess on lid/crease; lighter/mintier, since I’m a light-beige tone (light=skinned Asian, lol)
– UD Blunt on inner corner; yellows make me look washed out
– UD Mildew on outer V and blended into the crease
– A very light touch of MAC Deep Truth (yay CoC’s Shadowy Lady’s palette!) in the crease, similar to putting carbon on the crease
– MAC Femmi-Fi on highlight – LOVE this color! It’s such a beautiful fleshy color that matches my skin quite well!
Thanks so much, Kurisu!
Great way to dupe it!
So so so beautiful. 🙂 x
Thanks, Sarah!
loving the green mixed with gold look!
Thanks so much!
Pretty look Christine! Just wondering…is there a reason you don’t line your top lash line? Didn’t know if it was some sort of trade secret or just a preference 🙂 Thanks!
It actually *really* irritates my upper lash line – it was part of the reason why my eyes swelled up & got itchy/dry for 2 weeks from the last look :/
so pretty!
Thank ya, Charlene!
I love it! It looks gorgeous!
Thanks, Lindy!
