Kat Von D Shade Shifter Eyeshadow Set for $15
Had to share this deal I saw when looking for new products this morning 🙂 I picked it up myself, so hopefully I can review sometime in the future! If you’ve tried these eyeshadows (they’re available individually and have been for some time), let me know what you think!
Shade Shifter Set ($15.00) (Limited Edition)
Switch up your shadow looks with these bold, multidimensional shades. This set lets you adorn lids with the lustrous pigment and watch as the hue alters under different lighting. Activated by water, one swipe gives you highlighting, contouring, and definition possibilities—creating a dramatic, duochrome effect.
- On the Road Brown/green
- Love Letter Purple/maroon
Availability: Now at Sephora
Isn’t the brown/green shifting color already common? I think MAC and Too Faced already has it!
Probably, but for me, I don’t really focus on “most unique” since it’s important to have options! Different price points, brands, accessibility, etc.
If only 2 brands have it, it’s not common…at all. Some drugstore brands should also make such a shade cause I would love to own one but I don’t want to spend all the little money I have on MAC…even though I would use it quite often as I love green.
I believe L’Oreal HIP has a loose pigment like it, though I’m not sure if it’s still available (hard to remember).
Actually Wet and Wild has a quad with a color just like that its the one called “Comfortable”? Or something like that it has neutral colors it in matte and shimmer. I used it for a very long time, very good pigment for drugstore.
On the Road! <3 So pretty!
I own the goldenrod/shifts to pale green shade. The pigmentation and texture are both very nice, but the duo chrome is barely there. I’ve swatched the rest of the colors, and “on the road” is one of the 1000 similar colors to Mac’s Club. On the plus side, the duo shift is the strongest in “on the road” compared to the other Shade Shifter eyeshadows.
Hope you like them!
Thanks for the insight, Jess!
I have the orangey bronze one. The formula is great–not powdery and very smooth. The duochrome makes it look like you used more than one shadow. It’s a bold color, not for everyday, but I like it a lot. Great with blue eyes!
Thanks, KR! 😀
Already two mixed reader opinions, I’ll be interested to know yours when you receive them! I like the look of On the Road, but it reminds me of MAC Club way too much.
I love the color concept of Club, but the quality of it leaves something to be desired (would rather use MAC’s Blue Brown pigment!).
I like the concept, too, and own many indie takes on the color. And still, I have not yet figured out a way to wear that specific shade without looking like I’ve been in a nasty fistfight.
It’s interesting with a brighter gold, beige, or white – to lessen some of the reddish tinge!
Right?! Club is one of the shadows used for the makeup in the Great Gatsby film–it’s used for one of Myrtle’s friends when Nick and Tom end up at a crazy drunken party. It does a really nice job of making her look ultra strung out.
Why? I’ve been through so many “club” eyeshadows & pans that I’m intrigued to ask what goes wonky for you that makes it not so fun for you? And I agree about pigment! Both the Brown/Green and Blue/Brown pigments are lovely for this! Sublime! This is where pigments shine! 😀
Club’s texture is usually a miss (but some pans are better than others), and I find it loses most of the duochrome in practice. Blue Brown is far superior in terms of color payoff, texture, and shift, IMO.
These look really interesting and, coincidentally, I’m just heading out the door to Sephora…though they’re probably not in Canadian stores yet. I’ve only just ventured into KvD and have lots of shadows like the green one (and rarely wear them – not really appropriate in my line o’work!) but the purple one is totally worth a look and who knows…I might be tempted by both. The price seems hard to beat!
I have no idea if they have these types of deals in-store or not… I think I go to a physical Sephora store once a year or less, so I’m so out of the loop!
Ooooooooooooh… *stares in silence* Pretty. Very pretty! God I wish we had Kat Von D make-up here.
I hope they expand someday!
I love duo chrome eyeshadows. They’re neat and lovely…but only when they are actually duo chrome! I find a lot of “duo chrome” eyeshadows are mostly one shade or another and don’t really shift like I’d like them to.
This is very true!
“On the Road” looks similar to Too Faced “Label Whore” which is one of my favorite shadows. I might have to grab that!
It wouldn’t be surprising (based on the description) since there aren’t too many unique duochromes out there!
That’s a really good deal! I have On the Road and it’s very pretty with noticeable shift. I would agree that it’s more noticeable than in the other colors in the set. Still, there’s a lot of product in there for the price. The applicator sponge it comes with is actually big enough to use, especially just to dampen to put on a bolder layer of color.
It’s a great deal so long as you want one ;D
Just as I thought – not in Canada (yet?) and the Sephora gals knew nothing about these shadows but were wowed by the price (even if they’re $20 CDN that is still amazeadoodles)
Do they show online for you or nay online as well? I know you’re an in-store shopper but was curious if it’s even online for Canadians.
$19 CAD – available to order online for Canada. Not available in store for me either.
At least it’s online!
It’s not in store, but it is online for $18 CAD!
Not bad! Still works out to be about the cost of a single, so it’s like getting two for the price of one!
Woo hoo! Happily! Shocked! In Canada these are $18!!!
YAY!
i love these! i swear she has 3 different versions of the blue/brown/green sort of shadow and i own tons of other brands versions and hers are pretty good! the purple really makes my eyes pop. if i can remember correctly, there’s at least one more color? i don’t have it but i want it. i wonder if they’re trying to get rid of them to make way for a new product?
LOL! It’s a popular type of duochrome that brands seem to go for.
The duochrome effect is really cool, but I’ve defs heard mixed reviews about kat von d products in general.
I’ve heard mostly raves myself, what products have you heard bad reviews for?
Duochromes are the ultimate! 😀 Love Letter is like Jazz(berry) from the MJB Highliners, and the other is warm rusty red with some teal & green shift. The other two I highly favor over these. I do prefer keeping my white palettes around, the ones made with various shimmer washes and duochromes, to alter my shadow color. 😀
Do you have any recommendations for a “white palette” like you’ve mentioned? (That’s still available! I know you have quite the archive 🙂 )
I’ve been intrigued by the line, I remember seeing a few reviews when they came out. Doubt I’d pick up this particular set unless I was going to gift away On the Road. I’ve got it duped already, like a lot of people into makeup! (I’ve got one in a Lorac palette and a loose L’oreal HIP one, haha!)
I use that type of shade in the outer-v/crease with some neutral looks, since I rarely do a straight-up neutral look, myself.
Love Letter looks like my kind of color, though, will be neat to see it reviewed.
I LOVE a neutral look, but I can’t tell you how many times I go, “just something simple” and teal and green find their way onto the lid.
OH! I like those I don’t own MAC Club so maybe it might be a good dupe?
It could be!
I wish for Sephora international to start shipping to India too… we have two stores here near my place, but we don’t get all the brands here yet… 😐
Fingers crossed they start!
I have On the Road, and I agree that the duochrome shift is very noticeable. The quality is very good and I can usually get a nice one shadow look from it.
Great news! Thanks, Nikky!
Im drooling at Love letter ,so pretty -The kind of color I would enjoy wearing
Sadly in India we do not get these products
Aww 🙁
wow thanks!
No prob!
I have love letter and I absolutely love it. The color is so pretty as a one eyeshadow look ( little over the crease) it’s a purple that has hints of khaki, brown and even pink. Because of the multi dimension tone. I use it dry and it is still extremely pigmented. The only thing is when used dry, it has fall out so I usaully put a napkin under it so it’s not on my face. Rebut honestly the color is amazing that I do not mind one bit. 😉
Sounds very pretty!
Thanks for the heads up! I’ve been wanting to try out some Kat Von D shadows for a while, so this seems like a good time!
No prob, Keri!
The one on the left looks like that shade NARS released in the Adult Swim collection. I’m willing to bet I like the NARS formula better though.
Could be!
thanks Christine for sharing this! What a great deal! I have the orange and just recently acquired the blue one- this completes my collection! 🙂
YAY! ;D
I have On the Road and LOVE it. It’s my favorite brown-green duochrome. Very smooth and surprisingly wearable for everyday. I am curious about Love Letter, but it clearly doesn’t shift as strongly. Thanks for the heads up- I think I am gonna grab these.
Sounds lovely!
I’ll be interested to see how these swatch/work out if you get a chance to review them! We don’t have KvD here (of course, LOL), and aside from MAC there aren’t so many duochromes available in any brand that is here. 🙂
Also, I had to chuckle at that reply you made above about going for a neutral look and then teal happens or something – I do the same thing all the time! I pick up my Naked 2 palette, do a look, then I’m not satisfied until some purple or turquoise has worked its way in somewhere!
Haha! Glad I am not alone. And I truly LOVE neutrals, but it is so hard not to throw teal eyeliner on.
I love me some duocrhrome! But….I already have Label Whore which is the brown/blue combo.
Seems like you are probably covered!
wish this deal was around when i bought my On the Road a few years ago. i payed like $22 just for one shadow!
Aww!
I’ve had love letter for a while now and did review it a while back. I was slightly disappointed with the pigmentation to be honest ( esp. considering its a KatVon D product and thats pretty much what her products are known for) but it’s a very pretty colour 🙂 Will be cool to see what you think of it as well!
Look forward to trying it!
Do you know if these are full sized or mini?
