Makeup Look: Makeup Geek Smoky Eye

I haven’t done a smoky eye in awhile, so I wanted to try it with some of the products I had tested recently as well as with some shades I’ve worked with in the past. Then, I wanted to experiment with pairing a warmer lip with a smoky eye, as my typical go-to is something cooler-toned, like a rosy beige or more bubblegum-like pink.

Eyes

I first applied Makeup Geek Rockstar Eyeshadow on the inner third of the lid and blended upwards over the tear duct, towards the brow bone. Then, I patted on Makeup Geek Prom Night Eyeshadow to the center of the lid to brighten and create a gradient towards the outer lid. I used Makeup Geek Corrupt Eyeshadow to darken the outer corner and crease, which created a smoky effect. I softened the crease color’s edge by applying Burberry Trench Eyeshadow to the brow bone. I defined the lower water line with Marc Jacobs Beauty Blacquer Highliner Gel Crayon, and then I used bareMinerals Skinny Dip Eyeshadow smudged on the lower lashine.

Face

Guerlain Parure de Lumiere Foundation (002 and 003) set with Guerlain Les Voilettes Loose Powder. I applied Stila Kitten All-Over Shimmer on the tops of cheek bones.

Lips

I applied Guerlain Gaetane Rouge G Lipstick all over the lips, and then I topped it off with Bobbi Brown Citrus High Shimmer Lipgloss for added shimmer and shine.

Gorgeous! And if your comment about those glosses being your favorite didn’t already tempt me to look up the colors and find that citrus was beautiful… now I am even more tempted to go out and get it!

I love it! Must file this away to try. Rockstar really brightens up your eyes. I was debating Rockstar while I was placing my MUG blush order and didn’t go for it. I have so many white silvery shadows that I haven’t used. I think you’ve changed my mind!. Most swatches can’t capture the iridescence but I see a bit of that pink/purple that everyone keeps talking about.

I love the lip combo! I would not be interested in either of those products on their own yet together they look amazing! Do you know of a lipgloss that looks like these on its own, by any chance? If not, I will check the dupe list to see if I can replicate this with drugstore products.

Burberry’s Cameo Pink (http://www.temptalia.com/product/burberry-lip-glow/cameo-pink) is one of the more opaque, shimmer-heavy coral glosses, but it leans pink and it’s not quite as opaque. If you can start with a more opaque coral lipstick, the gloss just needs a lot of fine shimmer and sparkle in gold/coral/pink.

Cameo pink is also super pretty but indeed pinker and i like the orange tones in this look. I have Revlon Coralberry and Lover’s Coral maybe a golden gloss over them would work. I’ll try tomorrow!

I know you’ve reviewed quite a few of the MUG shadows in the past as well Christine – if you had to pick 5 fav MUG shadows what would they be? Trying to make it easier to pick some for myself lol. Thanks much in advance!

I love this look; you look beautiful! I’m definitely going to order some MUG shadows (and probably some blushes) to start. Do you thing the eyeshadow starter kit is a good selection of shades?

Beautiful look, Christine! I really love the lip color paired with the cooler eyes! Makes me want to go out and buy everything you’ve listed.

I’m so glad you decided to squeeze in these posts again. I love seeing all the looks you pull together!
