Hauled a few things today, thanks to the Nordstrom mascara sale!!! Got the YSL Volume Effet Faux Cil (that was an accident LOL. I meant to get the Babydoll), Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Mascara and Giorgio Armani Eyes To Kill Stretch Mascara.
First time trying them out. I am excited!!

Isn’t Sea Worship gorgeous. I nearly got Soul Serenade but decided to be “sensible”, especially since I already have Chanel Illusoire. But I’m seriously thinking it was dumb of me not to get Legendary Lure.
Hahahah.. my dogs have the need to inspect all of my packages too 🙂 Smellan is doing his job. Who knows, there could be a bone or doggie treats in there.
Haul: The couple of lippies I mentioned in an earlier post this week: Bite lipstick and Hourglass lipgloss. Oh, that hourglass lipgloss formula is so very impressive and now I am lemming more colours. I picked up another Becca cream blush, the Lychee one which had been out of stock on my first grab. I also hauled Guerlain Jolie Teint Foundation. I chose Clair/Light for my NC20ish netural skin and I have to say this is the first Guerlain foundation I have purchased where the colour is a good solid match, no need to mix two shades. There is visible yellow and pink tones in this shade when I swatch. This is the lightest colour in the range, so anyone with fair skin, be warned, it will run dark on you and maybe too warm if your tones run on the very cool side. The formula went on light, but developed quickly to ever so slightly darker than my natural skintone, but stayed true to neutral and didn’t turn yellow or orange so blended seamlessly. It rocks. I love this foundation for summer; The soft tube, the pump, the coverage which I think is a good medium. The pigmentation is fab and a little goes a long way. I was able to cover all my redness with this product and it held throughout the day, no redness peaking through. The finish is the biggest love for me, goes on fairly matte, but gradually achieves a bit of glow without breaking down and looking greasy/oily. For reference, I have mature combination skin which needs powder in the summer in t-zone only. I moisturize well before application and do not need primer for this to hold throughout the day. I used my fingers for application, had read in a couple of places this worked best as formula dries quickly. In intense heat, I will probably apply a touch of powder and use a bit of primer. Love this product, thanks Christine!
Weekend Plans: fields are planted so it is catch up time with everything else.
Hobby: Photography. I wish I had more time to spend with my camera. I’ve become lazy and just grab my phone camera. Consequently, my learning curve with my good equipment has stalled.
He was miffed that there was nothing edible, lol! I think it must have smelled interesting, because he normally does a cursory sniff, but he was DEEP sniffing this box.

Haul: MAC goddes of the sea lipstick, and hi jinks casual color. I found some archie’s girls products from mac at ebay.
Plans: same old, chores and more chores.
I would like to help around with more stray animals, I feed some daily (cats, dogs, pigeons, and other birds) but I wish I make more money so I can afford to help more.
Hopefully, one day you’ll be able to help more with the animals 🙂 What a sweet thing to do!

Edward Bess Ultra Dewy Complexion Perfector since it was on sale and MUFE HD breaks me out on my forehead when I wear it all the time… not sure how I’m feeling about it. It doesn’t match me very well (then again my face is lighter and redder than my darker and very yellow neck followed by a very light chest lol) and… IDK, the look of it anyway isn’t anything to write home about. I’ll mix it with MUFE and see. Otherwise, I’ll return it. Also waiting on MAC Alluring Aquatic (Sea Worship, Lorelai, and Enchanted One) to arrive today. Also got some Aaron Yan earrings that he’s worn (well, the style not the actual worn pair lol) from eBay.. arrived yesterday. And bought a cute backpack from YesStyle, IDK when that will arrive

PUR Minerals Argan Oil Big Blink Mascara, which worked all right as an incredibly wet but nicely defining formula … for about three weeks. Then it turned, and became a gloopy clumpy mess. I don’t pump the brush into the mascara pot or anything, either, so I have no idea what I did wrong, if anything.

Laura Mercier eyeshadow primer in Linen, which I’ve kept for too long to return without feeling horribly guilty about it; it works all right on me between six to eight hours, then my shadows slide merrily into my creases. I like the fact that it evens out my eyelids, but it’s no better than NYX HD in terms of staying power.
Make Up For Ever eyeshadow primer, which was purchased Wednesday and returned yesterday because it didn’t survive a ten hour day with my greasy hooded lids, and it didn’t make my shadows more vivid. I got NARS Smudgeproof instead, which swatched promisingly. I’ll give it a test run today.
Three weeks? Wow that seems like a quick time for it to turn 🙁

I just bought Soul Serenade, Silver Sun, and Lorelei from the new MAC release (In store since it sold out online in like 20 minutes). I also got a bottle of Lady Gaga’s perfume Fame off hautelook cuz my rollerball is getting mighty low. I get 3 paydays in July, so I’m looking forward to that haul… the Ambient lighting palette and Naked 2 are in my future…
I’m helping my friend move on Saturday and if Sunday is anything like today’s rainstorm I’ll be reading and ordering chinese.
I wish I had more time, and more importantly, more space for baking and cake decorating. Once I move I’m hoping to bake more often… and probably donate a lot of cake to a homeless or women’s shelter so I don’t eat it all lol.

I got Gloomaway, A Perfect World (Body), A Perfect World SPF 25, and Night-a-mins 🙂 I really like Origins for skincare that’s not too expensive, feels high-end (consistency/texture/dry down/general feel), and works well.
Haul: Placed the order for SEPHORA FAVORITES Bottled Dreams Fragrance Sampler For Her and an Origins set for my mum. PETER THOMAS ROTH’s unwrinkle kit for me because I’m determined to get some anti-aging product on my shelf.

What’s a hobby you wish you had more time for? Photography. I never have the time to go out and shoot anything these days. I did have my first paying photography job a couple of weeks ago. The bride said that she’d never thought she could look so pretty which made my week.

Haul: Went to Vegas last weekend for a final trip with my friends from my Master’s program before we graduated this past Tuesday. On the way up, my friends and I stopped at Ulta and I bought a travel size Ulta brand shower gel in Vanilla Sugar (because I forgot to bring a body wash), the Real Techniques Starter Kit and Core Collection. In Vegas, I was really naughty and bought the Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Cream, and Fresh Black Tea Age Delay Eye Concentrate at the Sephora in the Forum Shops at Caesars. No regrets though, the Fresh products are amazing!
Weekend plans: Date night tonight with the boyf, then out with friends tomorrow night. Sunday or Monday probably seeing the new X-Men movie :).
What’s a hobby you wish you had more time for?: Horseback riding. I’ve neglected it since beginning my Master’s program two years ago. Hopefully now that I’ve graduated, I’ll have more time for it!

Haul: finally I was able to get MAC Sea Worship (I absolutely LOVE it and love the packaging, which is a change since I dislike a lot of MAC’s LE packaging). I put it on as soon as I got home and I’m wearing it again today and it is SO gorgeous. I also got the Black Line Pearlglide liner which is so gorgeous and creamy.
Weekend plans: It’s our wedding anniversary (34 years! YIKES) on Sunday. We’re going out for dinner tonight to celebrate and then out for brunch on Sunday. Rest of the weekend – maybe some gardening and for sure working on finishing some trim-work to match the original, historic trim in our house (a long and arduous and BORING job)
Hobby I wish I had more time for: sewing! I sew a lot of my clothes but often end up putting down a garment near the end (usually because I’ve hit a snag or got distracted/busy) and then not picking it up again for months!

Haul: MAC’s AA Collection! I was away on business when they started appearing online and of course the site was stripped down to nothing by the time I got home! Luckily my local Nordies pulled through for me. I got all the eye shadows and the blushes from the collection, Mystical and Goddess Of The Sea, and Delphic Bronzer. I managed to talk myself out of the nail polish — I have a feeling I have at least one dupe for each of the colors in the collection.
Weekend Plans: going to be a quiet holiday weekend. Maybe a small get together, and some overdue spring/almost summer cleaning..
Hobby: My aunt taught me how to crochet many years ago, and I spent most of today looking at crochet videos on youtube. A trip to Michael’s may be in my very soon future…

I wasn’t going to buy anything, but the local Sephora had an evening with 20% off everything except their own brand, it was a nice evening among a lot of make up interested people.

Poppy King, Velvet Rope in Private Party and Black Tie. Like a lot. The intense pigmentation forced me to finally accept the natural shape of my lips, rather than try to line them into something they aren’t. MUCH more attractive this way.
Plans? My weekend is over–got a lot done but never as much as I want to.
Hobby? Cycling–and a training club to do it with!
Do you think the Velvet Rope formula is worth the price?
Sorry, I didn’t see this. I got mine at a discount. ($35 each.) Is the price worth it? No. BUT…the only lipstick that comes close to wearing this well on me is Morgana Cryptoria’s lipsticks. (Which I also love and whose colors are also very sophisticated–but in an entirely different way. That formula seems a little heavier to me, too.) And I plan to buy two more of the Velvet Ropes later in the year. (Brat Pack and Entourage.) And I have no doubt that I will wear them for years. They are definitely miles ahead of some Chanel lipsticks I have.
I let a friend sample the Velvet Ropes. She is also buying some. Same reason: price? Ridiculous. Formula? We find it amazing. Including the intensity of color.
$35 is way, way better than full price, though (more comparable to most high-end lipsticks, e.g. Chanel, Dior, etc.). I don’t LOVE when brands have say a $20 lipstick formula and then a $55 one. 🙁 Have you tried her other formulas at all?
I have not. The reason I was willing to take the chance was because of the price reduction. When I (probably) buy the other 2, I will pay full price. It’s simply miles better than anything I’ve tried by say, Chanel. (I have an old Image Rose and a few other colors–but those are probably old formulas.)
I use NYX primer that I love, and Fyrinnae and Sleek. So I’m pretty much a budget person. But I do love these, even though I DO NOT love the price. As I say, it’s even better than Morgana’s, which I think is wonderful.
I actually have a few Morganas I bought last year, but I haven’t gotten around to trying them yet. Maybe this is the inspiration I need to do so 🙂
Here’s a thought. Pay postage back and forth and I’ll send you one to sample if you like. I confess to not being particularly worried because my best friend (she’s dead) used to have 4 hooves, a mane, tail, and live in a stable.
