Dior Magique (479) & Wonderland (575) Dior Addict Fluid Sticks Reviews, Photos, Swatches

Dior Dior Addict Fluid Stick ($35.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is described as a formula that has the effect of “shiny gloss and pigmented lipstick into one color-rich product.” It is also supposed to be long-wearing, lightweight, and have coverage “that is between a gloss and lipstick.” They have a very creamy, slightly gel-like consistency that’s light-medium in thickness, an ultra-glossy finish, and good color coverage. The texture is non-sticky initially, but it develops moderate tackiness within a few minutes of wear. The major issue I had with this formula was that it was very prone to getting on my teeth, and there’s a fine line between even coverage and over-application. It’s comfortable to wear and fairly hydrating over time, and the formula, thus far, has lasted longer than the average gloss on me. It feels, behaves, and looks more like a really pigmented lipgloss than a liquid lipstick. It had a perfume-y scent that is stronger during application than it is worn. At times, I felt like I was tasting it here and there (almost soapy), but it was faint enough that sometimes I thought I was imagining it. I love the color payoff, glossiness, and length of wear, but the tackiness and scent/taste keep me from being in love personally.

Dior Magique (479) Dior Addict Fluid Stick ($35.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a brightened, medium pink-coral with warm undertones and mostly opaque color coverage. It applied evenly and made my lips look smoother than they probably are naturally. The color lasted for five hours, while the glossiness lasted nearly four. YSL Grenade Pepite (No. 15) (P, $32.00) is pinker. Chanel Sonate (178) (P, $29.50) is sheerer. Maybelline Celestial Coral (010) (P, $8.99) is pinker. MAC Drawn in Chic (LE, $15.00) is very similar. MAC Fever Isle (LE, $20.00) is shimmery. MAC Kiss & Don’t Tell (LE, $15.00) is lighter, pinker. MAC Star Quality (LE, $20.00) is similar. Illamasqua Mistress (P, $22.00) is warmer. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Dior Wonderland (575) Dior Addict Fluid Stick ($35.00 for 0.18 fl. oz.) is a medium-dark, pink-coral with warm undertones and a creamy, glossy finish. It’s really a darker (by several shades) version of Magique. It was mostly opaque–there’s something that keeps it looking heavy in color, almost an illusion of transparency–and wore well for five hours and leaves a faint stain behind. Illamasqua Follow (DC, $22.00) is pinker. Giorgio Armani #519 (P, $29.00) is more muted. See comparison swatches / view dupes.

Oh no, me neither. I can deal with a slight fruity or slight vanilla/bakery type scent, but NO PERFUME SCENTS, especially on lips and face. Just can’t deal with it. It’s kind of a shame, because these look really pretty.

These colours look gorgeous on you Christine! I am totally in love with the new Fluid Sticks – I recently purchased Mona Lisette (872) and the pigmentation is to die for, the colours are just so lovely. Strangely, tackiness and overapplication hasn’t been an issue for me so far. I personally thought the application brush was perfect and gave really good coverage.

Now I’m eyeing up Wonderland too…. This doesn’t look too great for my wallet! 🙂

Christine Avatar

Is Mona Lisette a lighter shade? I only picked up darker shades but wondered if maybe the lighter shades performed better. Tackiness isn’t really an issue for me either way, just that the formula was sticky. (Unless a gloss is so tacky that it’s goopy, interferes with application, etc., being inherently tacky doesn’t drive down a grade.)

Lisa Avatar

No it’s definitely not lighter. I’d say it’s actually relatively similar to the two you swatched, only it’s more of a bright raspberry. I did try on Whisper Beige (one of the lighter colours) on in the store, and didn’t notice any significant differences with the formula.

Oh definitely, but this is by FAR not the stickiest lipgloss I’ve had the misfortune to encounter, so I’m quite happy! 🙂

Your review is very interesting, but oh so lovely and long awaited. I own Magique as well (completely obsessed with it) and on me, it’s practically not sticky at all and after a bit it’s really like I’m having nothing on my lips at all. Seems like these do behave very different on everybody!

Christine Avatar

It’s not over-the-top, goopy kind of sticky, but I definitely notice that there’s a tackiness to it – almost like the YSL Glossy Stains that feel cool and watery during application but quickly transform to something a bit clingier (though not uncomfortably so) with a mostly non-sticky texture but there’s a wee bit of tack to the Glossy Stains (I get more with Dior’s Fluid Sticks).

Lily Avatar

I tried one this morning at the Dior counter and also got on my teeth. Wore while I shopped and lt felt tacky after a few minutes on. Not for me’ It is not just you Chrisine!

These are beautiful – but I wonder – are they really worth $35. The Maybelline Color Elixirs have some gorgeous colors, stay fairly well – maybe not 5 hours – and are like $7. For lip gloss – I think those will win out for me.

Christine Avatar

They do feel different on the lips, in comparison, and thus far, Dior’s formula applies better (in general) compared to the Color Elixirs, but it will, of course, vary depending on the shade – some of the Elixirs apply nicely, others less so! Now, whether that’s worth five times the price… in the hand of the wallet holder! All that is to say that they’re similar in that they’re both gloss formulas, but I wouldn’t say that Color Elixirs are a dupe for this formula (or vice versa, since Dior’s came out after!).

I am wearing wonderland as I wear this! I got a sample of these in my most recent sephora order and while it looks beautiful, I’m not over the moon about these for the reasons you mentioned. I prefer liquid lipsticks to this odd lipgloss formula, so I won’t be purchasing, but they do look beautiful on!

I also purchased Mona Lisette which to me is a pinky red. I love it but I found there is way too many warm colours especially coral pinks in the range. I think they need to add a few more cooler pinks. I only liked one colour out of the whole range. That’s unusual for me.

Thank you sooo much for posting the ingredients list because I was able to locate an irritant so this particular lip product is off limits for me. I was eyeing wonderland. I think it should be easy for me to locate a dupe for it.

Dia Avatar

I’m shocked to see cyclopentasiloxane on the ingredient list, let alone as the third ingredient. I had been kicking myself for not making a Sephora order when they had a card of four of the Fluid Sticks as a sample, but not anymore. Cyclopentasiloxane breaks me out big time, so I’ll steer very clear of these. Thanks for including a picture of the ingredients!

Lulle Avatar

I wasn’t sure which shade to buy between those 2, but after seeing your lip swatches, I think I’ll go with Magique: it’s probably more wearable for me while Wonderland would be really bold. I love bold lips, I just don’t wear such colors often enough to justify a $35 purchase!

Lydia Avatar

I bought two of these the week they were released here in Australia and I’m obsessed! They are very close to perfection for me because they are so opaque, last a really long time and are not too sticky. I bought the colours 995 (the really dark purpley colour) and 753 (a beautiful pinky red) and I adore both of them!

This is fate! I just received an order in the mail from Sephora today with some samples of these fluid sticks and now you’ve posted reviews! I am really in love with this formula. They’re some of the best lip products I’ve ever used, and I’m not even fond of glossy finishes (I’m more of a matte girl). I’m amazed at how pigmented and smooth they are <3 Adventure is my favorite so far- it's such a beautiful red-orange! I've had it on for about six hours and it hasn't budged or faded! 🙂

PJ Avatar

I just received this in Rieuse today. It is a beautiful coral red?. I saw it swatched online, and my local store was sold out of only that one, so I ordered it without trying on myself. Well, it IS beautiful , however I think it brings out some redness in my skin.
When first applied, it feels unique, really “drenched” and ” refreshing” feeling, but not sticky. A few minutes later, my lips felt kind of numb. I like it applied sparingly, and it leaves a gorgeous stain behind. My teenage daughter tried it, and it was just so stunning on her that I HAD to pass it on to her. ( and then a new dress and new shoes)
I DO love the formula, as it is unlike anything I own. So I think I shall try another shade!

Caroline Pao Avatar

Magique is the first shade I bought! This formula is AMAZING! I used to HATE lip glosses, but I fell in love with this one! So I purchase to more shades : Kiss me (a baby pink) and Frisson (a nude beige).

I am Asian with olive complexion. I want one of these but since it’s expensive, I can only get one shade right now. For a wearable color with a little pop in the face, which color out of this Dior Fluid Stick would you recommend me? 🙂

Cat Avatar

Hi, Christine! These colors are both so beautiful on you! I have wanted to buy the Addict Fluid Stick in Magique from the moment I saw it. Unfortunately, so did a lot of other people: I waited too long to order it, and by the time I decided to buy it a few weeks ago, Sephora was out of stock in 479. I signed up to be notified by email when it came back in stock, but when I finally got an email about it from Sephora on Saturday (June 14th), it stated that the item (in 479) has been discontinued. Not that they’re no longer carrying it, but that it is completely discontinued. However, just in case there was a mistake, I tried to buy it from several other retailers online (e.g., Nordstrom.com), and couldn’t find any who even still list the color. I also tried to buy direct from Dior.com; they still show the color and let me add it to my cart, but when I tried to submit the order, I got a message saying that they didn’t have enough stock to fill my order (qty. of one). As far as I know, this is the only shade from the collection that has been dc’ed, though I could certainly be wrong. My reason for telling you all this is not because I’m not worried about finding a dupe for Magique–there are several other colors I like in this collection–but I am concerned that Dior discontinued what I thought was a permanent shade in this new product very suddenly, and that it was not long after they released the fluid sticks. It just seems odd, and makes me a little wary of the formula. Maybe I’m being paranoid; I know shades are dc’ed for many reasons, but I’d love to know the reason behind the discontinuation of this one before I buy a fluid stick in another color, in case it was dc’ed because it caused skin problems, or something like that. I can’t imagine that it wasn’t selling well, given how many times it came in stock and sold out at Sephora while I was trying to make up my mind about buying it. Have you by chance heard anything about why Magique has been taken off the market? If you have, or if you have a theory about the reasoning behind this decision, I’m very interested in hearing your take on it. (And I’m sorry this query was so lengthy; thanks for reading it!) Cheers!

Christine Avatar

Hi Cat!

Thank you for sharing! I have no idea why it would be discontinued so quickly, especially since it is a more popular shade.

Macy’s has it – http://www1.macys.com/shop/product/dior-addict-fluid-stick?ID=1394483&CategoryID=30077#fn=sp%3D1%26spc%3D5%26kws%3Ddior%20fluid%26slotId%3D2

As does Dillard’s – http://www.dillards.com/product/Dior-Addict-Fluid-Stick_301_-1_301_504558382?df=04281604_zi_artifice_639&scrollTop=0

My only guess is that they might be so backed up in terms of getting the shade reproduced that with no forthcoming restock date, stores are showing discontinued? But I really have no idea.

Some websites say that ‘wonderland’ is a limited edition shade and some websites don’t. So my question is is it a limited edition shade or not? In my make-up store wonderland along with 3 other shades where placed separately from the other fluid sticks so that’s weird.. Thanks 😉
