Illamasqua Shattered Star Nail Varnish Review, Photos, Swatches
Illamasqua Shattered Star Nail Varnishes
Illamasqua Shattered Star Nail Varnish ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is supposed to have a “multi-dimensional glitter finish.” These three shades had the same consistency: slightly thin but not watery, and they were easy to apply for even, smooth results. Trilliant wasn’t quite opaque after two coats, but Fire Rose and Marquise both were. The finish is somewhat shiny, sparkly, and glittery, but not as glossy as the traditional creams and frosts in the Nail Varnish range, so depending on the effect you’re after, you may want a top coat. Marquise was the most matte of the three, and it was also the most textured. This formula lasts a full seven days on me with minor tip wear but no chipping.
Fire Rose Shattered Star Nail Varnish ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “shattered pink.” It’s a light-medium, rosy pink with silver shimmer and micro-glitter. It had opaque color coverage after two coats, and it was easy to apply and work with. I couldn’t think of any dupes for this one!
Marquise Shattered Star Nail Varnish ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “shattered orange.” It’s a vibrant, medium-dark orange-red with lighter tangerine shimmer and micro-glitter. It had full coverage color with two coats of polish, and I didn’t have any issues applying it. This one was a bit more textured than the other three, so depending on what you like, you may want to use a thick top coat to smooth it out (which will also give it a glossy finish). Zoya Destiny (P, $9.00) is exactly the same. Zoya Myrta (P, $9.00) is less glittery. See comparison swatches.
Trilliant Shattered Star Nail Varnish ($17.00 for 0.50 fl. oz.) is described as a “shattered champagne.” It’s a muted, pinky-beige with silver shimmer and micro-glitter. It was mostly opaque after two coats, but there was a little sparseness overall that kept it from full coverage. Zoya Lux (P, $10.00) is lighter, pinker, and has holographic glitter. See comparison swatches.

Loving Trilliant and Fire Rose 🙂
They’re all really pretty!
All 3 shades are fabulous 🙂 Marquise for me plssssssssssssssss
So pretty, right?
Gorgeous all of them!
Agreed!
Fire Rose is really cute, I’m really into pinks lately.
Me too!
me, three! I never wore pink much before but somehow this spring it’s really appealing.
I looove Fire Rose, and I’m not a big fan of orange nail polish, but Marquise is really pretty!
Do you like it on its own or with a top coat?
Definitely with a top coat, I love really shiny, glossy nails! 🙂
Ooooh my gosh, Marquise is such a unique vibrant colour! :O These are so gorgeous.
It’s so gorgeous! Surprisingly, it was exactly like Zoya’s Destiny!
Totally off topic but does it ever bother you when the illamasqua caps don’t line up perfectly straight? It drives me nuts! Maybe I’m the only one haha
A little, but I don’t see them out, so not a lot!
It drives me nuts too, so I actually don’t turn them all the way and leave them in the box. Probably not good for the polish, but oh well!
Pull the lid off. Then replace it with it being properly aligned. The square lids are removable
I think Trilliant may be my first Illamasqua purchase! At least my local Sephora stores carry illamasqua polishes…
Here’s hoping Sephora carries the new ones… The press releases keep saying Bloomingdale’s AND Sephora, but I feel like I haven’t seen any of the past two or three collections at Sephora.
Shattered Star is beautiful but it looks almost identical to OPI Liquid Sand in Silent Stars Go By, which I already have.
Oops. I meant “Trilliant”!
Good to know! Thank you, Amber!
P.S. – If you’d submit it as a dupe, that would be great! 😀
Fire Rose reminds me of Deborah Lippmann Mermaids Kiss.
Thank you for the heads up, LU!
I like Trilliant and I think the Marquise is surprisingly pretty!
Yay! I like Trilliant a lot!
I love the finish of these! I recently got Cameron by Julep, and it looks like a similar finish. They call it a “stardust” finish, a matte glitter. Cameron is more lilac/silver than Trilliant, but they do remind me of each other.
Every brand has to come up with a fancy name for the finish, lol!
These are almost unreasonably gorgeous – especially Trilliant! 🙂 I love Marquise as well, especially with the topcoat.
I love me a glossy finish, so I prefer all three with a top coat (I think Marquise needs it, because it is more textured than the others, but that’s my preference).
I have a total fixation on super shininess in my polishes, too!
I didn’t think I would want any of these, nail polish overload ennui, and yet I feel quite desirous of Fire Rose.
There’s always room for one more, right? Maybe?
Fire Rose and Trilliant are so soft and pretty. I love those type of colors
Me too! Very easy to wear.
Are the prices listed for retailers in the US that sells their line? Because their regular price for the on their website is $24.34 (closer to $14 with the pro discount). Was just curious because if I can somewhere here that sells them then the discount doesn’t seem like such a great deal if it’s priced higher to begin with.
Bloomingdale’s has them for $17.00! (First link in the post.)
Thank you! Sorry for the terrible typos in my original post! I blame it on my iPhone lol. The only thing that has kept me from buying online from their website is the high cost (once the currency is converted to US dollars) and the high cost of shipping if you add a polish to your order. The discount makes it just a few dollars cheaper than the price you listed for Bloomingdale’s (and that’s not counting the shipping) so it’s really not worth it unless their conversion rate is wrong on the website.
Marquise and Trilliant are really pretty shades. 🙂
The shades are stunning my fav being Fire rose.. love the mix of hues in it! 🙂
Fire rose is my fave. Bet they are a right pain to take off though!
I love the Trilliant color but I’m not much on those gritty finishes.
Fire Rose & Marquise are so cool! I don’t typically like textured polish, but I love these colors.
I want to try Illamasqua, but I keep getting tons of nail polishes in my beauty subscription boxes that I’ve never tried (but in odd colors). If I had to pick one Illamasqua polish for spring should I go with classic or trendy?
I would go for something you’d wear often OR something that is harder to find (more unique)!
Marquise reminds me of OPI Jinx.
