Your skin tone/coloring: Fair (Chanel BR-12 in Vitalumiere Aqua, 110 in Revlon Colorstay)
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Illamasqua Fatale quad
Product you had to work the hardest to find? MAC Jaunty eyeshadow from the Hey Sailor collection
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The chase leading to a successful acquisition!
■Your skin tone/coloring: NW-25 Cool light to medium
■Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Chanel Notorius
■Product you had to work the hardest to find? Laura Merceir 2013 Palette (Christmas)
■What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquistion
■Your skin tone/coloring: Light-medium, 1Y06, NW20, C3
■Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Cool baby pink blush but not too light. I think Ethereal Glow is too light (although I did have an SA apply it and it didn’t look bad, maybe it darkens some after app). I think I am going to re-buy something I depotted terriblty – theBalm Down Boy – its not as much a baby pink but this might be better suited for my skin tone.
■Product you had to work the hardest to find? Liquid foundation. I like the Lancome Teint Idole Ultra (I am very oily), and Hourglass Immaculate but Immaculate pulls way too orange on my skin and I’ve tried multiple shades. So far the Tarte 12 Hour BB primer is the only lightweight liquid that works – evens out my skin tone, fills in pores, controls oil (to an extent, of course), and doesn’t break down.
■What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair, cool-toned
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Nothing just now but am eagerly awaiting the arrival of a new Tarte foundation to Sephora stores
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Probably Urban Decay Snare eyeshadow, because it’s only available through UD (which doesn’t ship to Canada) or Sephora stores INSIDE J.C. Penney (those don’t exist in Canada)
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Absolutely the acquisition is better. It’s makeup, after all, and having it to use it is what it’s all about for me (though I did have a nice weekend getaway to the US with hubs in the process of getting Snare, though the getting of it was just a side-benefit of the getaway).
Your skin tone/coloring: Light-Med
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Any product that is Coral/Peach.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Coral/Peach shadows & blushes. I bought the UD “Free Love” Shadow.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition. I hate having to shop all over to find one product. I feel so good when I got the product in my hand. Woot!
Your skin tone/coloring: warm/medium
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? nothing really i do want to try out a couple products but i need to finish what i already have.
Product you had to work the hardest to find?nothing really it’s just makeup
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Depends the chase if the product is a let down, the acquisition if the product is good.
Your skin tone/coloring:
NW 5- 10
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down?
A dupe as close as possible to NARS Strawberry Fields Lipgloss
Product you had to work the hardest to find?
NARS TM in Terra Nueve here in Germany!!! Also Becca SSP in Pearl which I just wrote about, including the epic multi-year chase!
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition?
The acquisition by far!
Skin tone/coloring- Fair/neutral
Product/shade trying to hunt down?- nothing at the moment
Product had to work hard to find?- when I was trying to buy a Hourglass ambient powder in Luminous they were always out, but I finally got it.
Chase or the acquisition?- the chase is fun, but I would have to say acquisition.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC 40-42/ Tanned with yellow tones.
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? A concealer that is not too pink/orange, doesn’t crease and covers my dark circles really well.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? MAC Petticoat and Revlon Matte Balm in Shameless.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition?: The acquistion.
This is a little OT, but I can’t help but feel tickled at seeing March 12th, 2014 up there because….today is my birthday! 😀
Happy birthday. 🙂
happy birthday <3
Thank you, Christine and Precious! <3
Your skin tone/coloring: Tan (MAC NC42)
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Bourjois CC Cream!
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Estee Lauder Pure Colour Stay On Shadow Paint in Chained.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition! For sure!
1. Medium Warm (NC20-25)
2. Laura Mercier Artist Palette Holiday 2013 ad/or Kat Von D Spellbinding Palette (stalking eBay daily but the prices are insane, like more money than rent! I’m crazy but not stupid)
3. I recall having trouble finding TooFaced’s Bon Bon Palette after it initially sold out — but got it eventually
4. THE ACQUISITION
Your skin tone/coloring: NW10/15
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? I’ve yet to find an HG contour shade for my fair, cool-toned skin, though MAC Quarry work fairly well in the meanwhile. I did a lot of store hopping for Chanel’s Notorious and came up empty handed, so I’d love to find a dupe for that someday. I was also pretty crushed when Chanel discontinued Rouge Noir. It’s one of the few shades that’s tempted me into considering Ebay markups.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Well, Maybelline’s Nude Compliment took me jumping a state away to find it. 🙂 I also found Bobbi Brown’s Heather Mauve completely by accident in an outlet mall months after it had been discontinued at Sephora, so that was a very lucky find.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition. Honestly, with the number of products out there available, my tenacity is fairly tempered when it comes to makeup. If I don’t find it for a reasonable price or within a certain time frame, I just shrug it off.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC20/C3
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down?: i’m currently looking for a nice coral blush! i’m also looking for an iridescent face powder from the Mac Fafi collection but sold out LE products are always so expensive 🙁
Product you had to work the hardest to find?: whisper of gilt! and i mean i’ve found it but i didn’t want to pay an insane amount for it so i I got Estee Lauder in Heat Wave instead 😀
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition?: I enjoy both, but the acquisition is pretty nice!
Your skin tone/coloring: Medium with yello undertones/MAC NC30
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? MAC Viva Glam I, MAC Pro Palette 15 eyeshadow pan, both sold out in my country. Milani Lip Intense and the new shades of NYX Matte Lip Creams.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? MAC Whisper of Gilt and Urban Decay 15th Anniversary Palette. God, I remember chase these products til the end of the world. MAC Mineralize blush in Supernova (Heavenly Creatures Collection) gave me so much work too. I might be officialy a chaser, especially because I live in Brazil, and in here, the launches arrives much after than US, when they arrives. 🙁
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition, for sure! That MOMENT when you want to hug the product and can´t stop staring! (I´m that kind of addicted)
Skintone/Coloring: Fairly light, very neutral; dark-featured.
Current Hunt: Maybelline Dare To Go Nude Color Tattoos. I found just about everything else from the collection, but there wasn’t any sign my CVS ever had them, and empty displays stick around for a while… I also wouldn’t mind stumbling upon NARS Santorini…
Last Hunt: L’Oréal Infallibles in Strawberry Blonde & With A Twist; I checked several stores, in 5 cities in & around Los Angeles, and none ever got the collection… I didn’t necessarily go out of my way, though, as I’m constantly in need of something from a myriad of drugstores. I also finally caved and ordered it in Burning Black on eBay, only to find it was being released in the US under Smoldering Plum, literally the next day, LOL!
Hunt or Acquisition? Definitely the acquisition. I pretty much write off any brand that doesn’t make enouhh product to go around, so I rarely need to “track” anything down. I’m especially offended when it comes to basic, staple products that most people use regularly, and eventually stop buying from the brand altogether. I’d rather support a brand that actually *wants* my money, rather than allowing the eBay vultures to price-gouge.
Your skin tone/coloring: medium warm
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? The perfect gray eyeshadow (so far no luck)
Product you had to work the hardest to find? A good face primer.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? I’d say the acquisition but the chase is still part of the fun of course!
Your skin tone/coloring: NC25
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Kiehl’s Rare Earth Mask and NARS Light Reflecting Loose Powder (I’ve only seen it pressed)
Product you had to work the hardest to find? MAC Hello Kitty Collection! I found out a little late that the collection had arrived in Mexico and had to go to various places to get some stuff – it sold out almost immediately.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition – I get too stressed in the chase!
Your skin tone/coloring: Cool-to-neutral toned vampire
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? If I could get my hands on Chanel Fleurie, I would be a happy rogue. In a more realistic frame, if I could get OPI Blush Hour, that’s be great!
Product you had to work the hardest to find? My beloved MUFE 15 and 49 lipsticks. Blue-purple lipsticks, people. I had to travel to the other side of the world!
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Definitely the acquisition – I only chase things that I actually want to use, so to have it in my paws and be able to use it is the best!
Skin Tone: Snow White
Product/Shade I’m on the hunt for: The right combo of base makeup to cover-up my ruddy cheeks. On the one hand I don’t need to wear blush. On the other hand, blush shapes haven’t gone down to the jaw since the Tang dynasty.
Hunt the longest for: I lost my favorite green eyeshadow in 2010. (Smashbox Zoom, not that I found out even what I was looking for for years since my single had the labeling worn off) I finally found a good dupe (wet’n’wild comfort zone eyelid) a few months ago. On the way I’ve acquired over twenty shades of green. Oh no. Green eyeshadow. The horror. *cackles maniacally at horde and goes to order more*
Which is better: If it’s something basic or uncomfortable – like base makeup or skincare – then the acquisition, definitely. Elsewise the chase. I have my dupe but I am still not going to stop ordering every green/gold duochrome I can find.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC50
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Urban Decay Nourishing Lipgloss in Nooner. I’ve swatched it, but the Sephora stores near me are all sold out of that shade. Whenever a product is popular enough to sell out, I always think it must be good!
Product you had to work the hardest to find? The LORAC Pro Palette. I had to visit two Sephora stores and three Ulta locations before I found one. It was worth the chase though because I love it! I’ve used it everyday since I bought it, and I haven’t repeated a look yet!
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition if I love the product, and the chase if the product is a dud to me.
Your skin tone/coloring: Porcelain
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Illamasqua “Kontrol” or MAC “Punk Couture” lipstick.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? An opaque burgundy lipstick that’s actually burgundy, not berry/wine. Sky blue eye shadow that isn’t teal/turquoise leaning but actually BLUE blue. Blue-violet lipstick like Kontrol or Punk Couture.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Acquisition! I’m still mad I can’t find a good blue-violet lipstick that’s ever in-stock. Yeah there’s some Punk Couture on ebay but it’s all way overpriced.
■Your skin tone/coloring: NW 20
■Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? a new or near perfect Urban Decay Book of Shadows vol 1 palette. And repurchasing my Tarte Femme Fatale palette… But that one is never on eBay.
■Product you had to work the hardest to find? the lipstick I got from MAC’S Marilyn Monroe collection. That was a pain! It was about that time when the Nordstroms in my area stopped doing pre-sales for MAC collections.
■What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Acquisition!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/light, warm
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? The perfect red. I have a bunch I like but would love a ruby woo non-drying dupe. I’m also anxious for sephora to start carrying more than an abbreviated version of the new hourglass and mufe blush lines.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Type of product? foundation. Actual product? revlon strawberry suede lipstick and bourjois healthy mix foundation (had to leave the country for that one)
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Acquisition! I love looking at makeup but finding the right thing can be infuriating sometimes.
Your skin tone/coloring: medium with slight olive undertone.
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? the perfect natural peachy blush.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? mac cremesheen glass in narcissus
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? definitely the acquisition!
Your skin tone/coloring:
Fair/ light and neutral/ cool (NC15, Nars Mont Blanc, UD 1.0)
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down?
Le Metier de Beaute products. Every place that shipped to Canada has either stopped selling them or stopped shipping them outside the US. I feel lost.
Also, I have misplaced my Guerlain Rouge G in Provocative, so I’m hunting for that one, but in a different way 😛
Product you had to work the hardest to find?
What’s funny is that products that I missed have a tendency to reappear- Guerlain Cruel Gardenia, Mac Candy Yum Yum and Heroine (both of which I bought when they became permanent). I had to get Guerlain Parure de Lumiere off eBay, but I ended up getting it for about half retail, so I don’t know if that counts.
Probably the items that it took me the longest to acquire were my Rouge d’Armani lipsticks in 205 and 407. They were at my counter for about a week, so that I couldn’t even really remember what they looked like, but I remembered loving the collection of which they were part. I couldn’t find swatches on line and I wasn’t sure if they were even still available other than through the Armani web site (which doesn’t ship to Canada). Finally, I took a chance and ordered them through Nordstrom. Both are beautiful colours! (please excuse me writing a novel here…)
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition?
The acquisition. There are relatively few things that I feel it necessary to chase. Honestly, I always have an attitude that if I’m meant to have something, I just have to wait (see my comments about CYY and Heroine). I don’t place more value on something just because it took me a long time to find it. Sometimes, I feel like that sets me up for a disappointment, actually.
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair with neutral undertones
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? A clean, yellow-based pink lipstick
Product you had to work the hardest to find? A clean, yellow-based super glossy pink lip gloss (yay Bobbi Brown Bright Pink!)
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The chase (… she typed sheepishly)
◾Your skin tone/coloring: fair NC20
◾Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Nothing currently
◾Product you had to work the hardest to find? MAC eyeliner in Phlox Garden and the Marilyn Monroe lipsticks
◾What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Acquisition!! You feel extra excited to own something that was difficult to get!
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/medium, neutral to cool
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? I can’t locate that Guerlain Les Voilettes pressed powder anywhere, AND I MUST HAVE IT!!
Product you had to work the hardest to find? So far, nothing, really.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Oh, the acquisition, by far. I just get annoyed by chasing things. Very low tolerance for frustration.
Your skin tone/coloring: C3/NC20
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Still the Storylook Palette Vol. 3 (Ariel Palette). Shoulda bought when I had the chance!
Product you had to work the hardest to find? The Hourglass Ambient Lighting Powder Palette. And any limited edition Maybelline Color Tattoo.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? THE ACQUISITION, PERIOD.
■Your skin tone/coloring: Light caramel with olive tones
■Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? A soft, warm grey eyeshadow, matte – kind of like the grey in the “The Perfect Storm” duo by baremnerals.
■Product you had to work the hardest to find? A coral lipstick with a cooler undeertone – found it in Teheran, Chanel!
■What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Both. Multiple times. Aahhah 😀
Your skin tone/coloring: Light Olive/yellowy tones
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? The perfect red lipstick!
Product you had to work the hardest to find? UD Naked palette it seems to be really hard to get in the UK i found it but cant afford to buy it 🙁
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition nothing feels better than having a brand new product that is all yours 😀
Your colouring/ skin tone: NC43 golden tan
Product/ shade you’re trying to hunt down: Le Metier De Beaute lipstick in Uma Paro. I CANT find it anywhere in store or online. Please let me know if anyone knows an exact dupe
Product you had to work the hardest to find : Guerlain rouge g in Giovanna ( I was able to track down 2:) )
What’s better- chase or the acquisition? Ofcourse the acquisition. I get very restless if I want something so badly and can’t find it
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/cool
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? A longer-lasting dupe for L’Oreal Mica lipstick
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Tom Ford cream shadows
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition! The chase isn’t exciting for me.
Your skin tone/coloring: NC42
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? A good contouring brush
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Mac’s Marilyn Monroe collection. It took a lot of work, but I managed to find a store that would let me pre-order and got everything I wanted. Also the Mac RiRi holiday collection. I only wanted one lipstick but couldn’t get it anywhere. You win some, you lose some! Especially with MAC!
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? Most definitely the acquisition.
Your skin tone/coloring: light with yellow undertones (G. Armani 4.5)
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? Dior Rose or Amber Diamond! I can’t believe I didn’t hear about it being discontinued until it was too late 🙁
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Chanel Vitalumiere. I’m not near a counter & wasn’t able to find a decent/ reliable/ safe site online. I finally got it in a duty free shop in the Dominican Republic last April!
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition…. I have a problem!!! But I’ve been doing much better this year and shopping/ using my stash 🙂
Your skin tone/coloring: light/medium Mac Face & Body N3
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? none
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Flower (by Drew Barrymore) makeup – my Walmart is far away!
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The aquisition!
Your skin tone/coloring: Fair/cool
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? None currently.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? MAC Marilyn Monroe collection…I got VERY lucky. A Belk opened up after it was sold out everywhere and I rushed to the counter. The strange thing is, a local beauty store has a few of those products now for a good bit less than retail. I have thought of flipping them online, but I don’t think I would do that.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The chase. I like the feeling when you finally get your hands on the product, but the chase is better. I collect first edition books and it is the same thing (except that there is NOTHING to do with the book once you get it because you should not read a first edition).
Sink tone: pale, neutral to cool
Product: so many, but mainly a decent pinky cream blush for spring
Hardest Product: a foundation to suit my dry blemish prone skin (found it – thanks Bourjois 123 CC!)
Acquisition or chase? Tough one but probably acquisition followed by trying out new looks.
Your skin tone/coloring: fair/light (I’m usually the lightest or almost lightest shade.
Product/shade you’re trying to hunt down? I’m really into pink right now, bubblegum or bright pink.
Product you had to work the hardest to find? Baby Skin! But we found it and we have several tubes.
What’s better–the chase or the acquisition? The acquisition! And using the item.
