Korres Lip Scrub Review, Photos
Korres Lip Scrub ($19.00) is a solid lip scrub in the shape of a lipstick. It uses rice powder to exfoliate while jojoba oil and beeswax are there to hydrate your lips.
The product has me at odds. I’m not sure if it’s best to remove it, let it sink in for a few minutes, then remove, or not to remove it at all. The rice powder makes for a very, very subtle exfoliator, and it feels more like a polisher than a scrub. I really didn’t feel like it did much in the way of exfoliation, though it did make my lips feel more hydrated–if I didn’t wipe it off, but the grainy bits of rice… you have to wipe it off at some point. Otherwise, it just feels like you have sand on your lips.
The lemon scent is very subtle, too, and I think I smell more of the jojoba oil/beeswax combination than the lemon. This stuff also doesn’t taste good, so those who have the urge to lick their lips while this is on… resist!
While convenient for travel, I don’t personally find it necessary to travel with. A toothbrush or a wash cloth will do in a pinch, and at $19, I’d rather buy another lipstick than a lip scrub that does just a so-so job. Not to mention, I think it’s easy to use up this product, so you won’t get as much usage out of it as you’d like before needing another tube.

Great review. $19 for a lip scrub is really ridiculous to me. I just use water & sugar as a lip scrub. It works pretty well. Im thinkin about tryin it w/ olive oil in exchange of water soon. 🙂
I like it better with oil (though it tastes yuck!), personally! 🙂
I just bought this a few days ago! I was wondering how to use this as well, haha. I put in on before I take a shower, and it seems to do a decent job.
I know! Kind of odd that it doesn’t have more directions!
I agree with you on some of your points, but I will comment that if you’re like me and you wear a lot of very dark lipsticks, you might like this — I use it every time I’m about to apply a really super-dark colour — and I find it helps to keep the lipstick from looking cakey and enhancing any small chapped spots I might have. I do like how smooth my lips feel after using this, I don’t get the raw feeling I tend to have if I just use a wet cloth or a toothbrush.
That’s an interesting way to use it – glad you’ve found it! I’m surprised that it doesn’t create too much slip, though!
I always wondered if those lip scrubs in a tube were worth it! Thanks for the info!
No prob, Eden!
This is such a timely review because I’ve been using Korre’s lip scrub for about two weeks now.
Honestly, it’s one of those purchases that has me searching for my receipt because it actually dries my lips out. The scrub action is gentle and relatively effective but I’ve been leaving it on. I’ll try wiping it off and applying Clinique Superbalm this week.
I don’t let it sit awhile, btw, before starting the scrubbing action. I apply it like I’m mad at my lips and, boy, is it ever good at getting the miscellaneous dead skin that is the enemy of all lipstick.
That’s crazy that it’s actually drying your lips out though! 🙁
I always prefer using plane table sugar and lip balm to exfoliate my lips. It works well and costs nothing. a lip exfoliant is not something fun to pay big bucks for.
What lip balm do you use with the sugar?
I’m a washcloth girl, so I doubt I would pick this up.
Do you just use a damp wash cloth? What’s your technique?
Thanks for the review. I prefer a toothbrush for exfoliating my lips.
You’re welcome, DoDe!
I have been wondering about this product – thanks for sharing your thoughts! I can safely skip this now. =)
No prob, Catherine!
This reminds me of the Fresh lip treatments. I’ve been meaning to try the rose tinted one… do you have a review coming up on that product?
I was so close to getting this about 2 weeks ago but then I was like nah! I bet Christine will have a review up sometime and I will wait and see what she says. And what do you know?! A review is up. Im glad I passed this product up.
LOL!
