YSL Orange de Chine (8) Glossy Stain ($34.00 for 0.20 fl. oz.) is a vibrant, medium-dark orange with strong warm, red undertones and a glossy finish. MAC Morange (LE, $15.00) is lighter. MAC Knockout (LE, $15.00) is slightly redder. See comparison swatches. If you really want to replicate the color and finish, I would recommend going for an orange-red lipstick and adding a little gloss on top (here are some orange lipsticks to consider).

It had nearly opaque color coverage, and it applied very evenly. I was surprised at just how well it applied–no settling into lip lines, no splotchiness–just smooth, even, glossy color. The wear was phenomenal, as the color endured for eight hours, while the glossiness managed to stick around for four to five hours. It was lightly hydrating overall. The Glossy Stain formula has a grape-like scent to me, which I don’t particularly care for, but I don’t notice after about ten minutes. The texture of Glossy Stains is very thin and liquid-like initially, but between five and ten minutes, it thickens and turns to an almost gel-like consistency that hugs lips (but doesn’t feel clingy).

I tried wearing the glossy stain shade #7 and it totally destroyed my lips. It sucked every ounce of moisture out of them and took days of wearing nothing but lip balm to get rid of the “grainy” feeling of my lips. I don’t know if it was the fragrance in them, or what. Totally disappointing.

Christine, I so envy you for your skin tone. You can rock these colors so well! I love the YSL Glossy Stains; I have only 4 because most of the colors don’t suit me. This color is great on you. I love this color of orange but as a redhead with fair skin, whenever I’ve tried to wear it I look like Ronald McDonald.

Actually, I have. I just recently got one of the Bare Minerals lip sheers in Tangerine Tango. And I actually like it on me. I think because it’s so sheer. I see pictures of redheads wearing red and orange lip colors and I think “why not me too?” The most recent one that really inspired me was the Aveda one. The model has the same hair and skin color as me and she was wearing very strong colors; green eyeshadow and red lips and it was breathtaking. The green eye looks I can do but I think I’m just afraid of the strong lip colors. Of course, the model in that campaign was so beautiful it should be illegal. If I looked like her, I would have no fear!!

I LOVE YSL glossy stains. I have a few, all Long lasting w/o drying, great colors. I’m surprised you noticed a scent-I didn’t really smell anything, and I’m scent-sensitive.
I will put this color on my wish list-I go more orange in summer with a bronzy/gold color palette.

Will do…you should see my “Temptalia” list…it’s growing 😉 Just took a quick look at the Etsy shop….ugh, so many pretty things, esp those dangle earrings of yours that I adore 🙂

You’re welcome! I don’t have any YSL Glossy Stain as of yet, but I do have some of the L’Oreal equivalent. I absolutely love them! Lilac Ever After is particularly gorgeous.

OH YES. The YSL glossy stains are my absolute favorite formula; I put some burts bees on before I apply and I swear it lasts all day through eating and drinking. I’ve always been reluctant about orange but I’ve been getting into it lately. I will definitely have to track this one down!

Very beautiful color! Looks good on you! 😀 It looks on you like a liquid lipstick/pigmented gloss I got from the subway(yaaa, pretty no name but it comes in some awesome shades and it’s 3$ compared to 55$ this YSL one would be here-what a joke, I don’t even live in Australia) on me, as it’s a bit lighter and I’m fair toned 😀

This is the only shade I have in the YSL Glossy Stain range, and I really love it. It’s my favorite orange lip color. I like that it’s a bit darker, and has a bit of red. Every time I wear it, I wonder why I don’t have more of these!
