5 Dior Beauty Must-Haves
The first Dior product I can remember falling head-over-heels in love with was their Diorskin Shimmer powders, specifically Amber Diamond. I spent a few hours yesterday reorganizing, and after seeing Amber Diamond, plus three others, I was left wondering why Dior hasn’t released any additional shades in so long.
- Rouge Dior Couture Colour Voluptuous Care Lipstick is a long-wearing, hydrating, nicely pigmented formula
- Diorshow Fusion Mono Eyeshadow — these are my new favorite cream eyeshadow for their pigmentation, shimmer, finish, and wear; favorites include Aventure and Millenium
- Dior Vernis — their more recent shades have a wonderful glossy shine and nice color coverage (most of my favorites are limited edition, unfortunately!)
- Diorskin Nude — lightweight, light-medium coverage, natural-to-dewy finish
- Diorskin Shimmer Star — a lovely all-over highlighter available in a bronze shade (Amber Diamond) or pink shade (Rose Diamond)
I haven’t tried much from Dior except their Diorskin forever flawless perfection wear foundation which is also quite nice and available in neutral shades.

I found that one to look a bit too heavy up close though. (The Diorskin forever flawless perfection wear foundation) Any thoughts?
Hey Christine, Amber Diamond has actually been discontinued here in Europe. It is replaced by Diorskin Nude Shimmer. I have no idea if Dior plans to discontinue Amber Diamond everywhere, but this could be the explanation why Dior hasn’t added more shades to the line.
I am also a big fan of the new Rouge Diors, and I like Addict Extremes as well. Diorshow Iconic Overcurl is my favorite mascara ever, and I have gone through 3 tubes of Diorshow Maximizer Lash Plumping Serum! Dior makes lovely nail products. Their Top Coat is the fastest-drying one I have tried, and Creme/Huile Abricot totally saved my dry and brittle nails! I also tend to reach for my Dior Vernis more often than nail polishes from any other brand, as I love the brush, how fast they dry, and how much better they stay on my nails! I’m sure I can go on, but these are product I can think of out of the top of my head.
I feel like they haven’t added one in years… probably not since 2009? or so. I have Amber, Rose, Copper, and Pop. Pop is the last one I reviewed on the blog, I think. Is it popular in Europe? It seems super popular here in the states so I wonder if they don’t love it but keep it for U.S. Do you by chance know when it was discontinued in Europe?
Hey Christine, as far as I know they were also popular here. I thought Dior replaced them with Diorskin Nude Shimmer as an attempt to make their new Diorskin Nude line more complete. I discovered it had been continued last June, so it has been quite a while now. Nude Shimmer isn’t bad, but it isn’t as subtle as Amber Diamond.
Interesting – I am surprised it’s been discontinued so long and we haven’t seen it disappear quite yet!
I’m not too sure what the story is anymore. As far as I know, it’s been long gone on the European/Asian markets.
If you don’t mind me chiming in here, I think I can answer your question. I’m in UK and I think I definitely saw the last ones here about a year ago and they were selling through stock during 2012/early 2013. They were definitely at counters during 2012, but low in stock everywhere. Sunny’s right, it’s been replaced by the Diorskin Nude Shimmer.
Nice list of Dior products. I would add the Addict glosses among my favourites as well as their mascaras, foundations, Addict Extreme and Skinflash (better than Touche Eclat in my opinion). They are the only brand in my collection that I could do a full-face with at one time (none at the moment as I explore more brands, so I don’t buy too much from one brand anymore). A couple of other brands would be close, but they don’t make foundations that fit.
Oh, their nail polishes too, the best. I always look forward to unique colours from Chanel, but always disappointed. I don’t get much chipping from any brand but most Chanel’s get major tip-wear so fast! Dior will stay flawless for a week and then some. Haha, I think you can tell I love Dior.

christine , even before MAC I purchased DIOR Lipstick , my first high end or any medium range lipstick was DIOR BACKSTAGE PINK
i still consider it as my lucky charm and keep it safely all the time 😀
and not only lipstick , the highlighter I picked first was “DIOR AMBER and ROSE” after reading here 😀
then came bobbi Brown shimmer brick and any other highlighter
and if I look back , yeahh DIOR was the first brand i tried but never gave enough attention in past 2 yrs
I recently picked DIOR NP , the one in picture there GALAXIE and Minute 😀 and also DIOR ROUGE DARLING and DIOR MINUTE
i badly want TRAFALGAR but you mentioned there are so many dupes , thats why am little hesitant 😀

I also love Dior’s glosses! I haven’t tried the new formula, but the old formula in Flash (I couldn’t find swatches of it on the Internet even before it was discontinued….hmmm) is one of my favourites.
Flash was really pretty!
Whether its called Diorific or Dior Rouge….the classic lipstick….not those with the long tube….I really like the lipstick. It doesnt have the “slip” as Christine calls it.
I almost put Diorific on here, too, but I haven’t tried any from the permanent range!
I haven’t tried too many Dior products but I do love the ones I’ve tried so far. I actually have a Dior foundation in my stash I’ve yet to try lol. I’ll have to break it out soon! I definitely need to get Amber Diamond soon. It’s SO pretty!

I really like Rose Diamond (it’s a better colour for me than Amber Diamond but I’m still tempted to buy Amber Diamond one of these days). I also really like Dior Brow Styler pencil (it’s the thin one) but I think best of all, my favourite thing from Dior is the 5-pan limited edition eye shadow palette in Bonne Etoile, which I only discovered thanks to you, Christine, since I rarely go to the Dior counter.
Oh, yeah, Bonne Etoile (and Constellation) were both really nice. Dior has put out some lovely palettes, though they’ve put out plenty of misses, too! 🙁
I know – I feel I lucked out with Bonne Etoile and that is 100% due to your site. You’ve no idea (well, actually, I ‘m sure you do have an idea because you must hear it so often) what a huge help your site is for avoiding costly flops but, on the other side of the coin, I purchase a TRUCKLOAD of stuff I wouldn’t even have known about if I didn’t come here (so you’re good for my wallet but also bad for my wallet!) I know a lot of their eye shadow palettes are pretty disappointing but when you’ve said something’s a winner, you aren’t kidding!

Dior is a bit of a sleeper for me periodically coming out with these really great must have products. There is always an LE nail enamel I am lemming and I love the application brush. I very much second your vote for the fusion mono eyeshadows. The colour Aventure looks totally phenomenal under evening lighting. I also really like their Healthy Glow bronzing powders. They have some really subtle and pretty non-orangey options for light skin.
That’s how I feel! I’ll feel like it’s miss after miss, and then… oooh, that’s amazing!
I was under the impression that the Diorskin Shimmer Star was on its last legs since the brand’s revamped everything else, so it’s time would be coming up soon.
I’m very find of Dior’s Addict lipsticks, quints and especially its Skinflash pen (it works so I can live with the price as my main splurge). I’m also a sucker for their limited edition items they used to turn out before. I want to like their foundations but The formulations just don’t feel right. I don’t break out but it feels a bit weird on my skin.

I just recently picked up Dior Rosy Glow Healthy Glow Awakening Blush(that’s a mouthful). It’s the one that is scary pink in the pan, but applies nicely to give you a beautiful natural flush. Love it! I also like Dior Extase mascara. I have thin, sparse lashes and this work well for me. Because of the price, I only purchase it once a year as a treat.
What mascara do you use when you don’t have Extase on hand?
Prestige My Biggest Lashes from Ulta. So reasonable and so incredible for wimpy lashes!

Yay, Dior love! It makes me SO happy to see Dior get some appreciation; I hang out on makeupalley and I feel like this brand gets a lot of flack.

– Certain eyeshadow quints like Rosy Tan, Peacock, Golden Snow, Incognito, etc
– Addict Glosses
– Nude loose powder
– Amber Diamond and Rose Diamond
– Passion Fruit blush
– Airflash foundation
– Creme de Rose
– Nail polishes
– Hydra Life skincare
They have some great products! Perhaps because they also have some big misses? They don’t seem as consistent as some other brands (but I don’t know if they’re more or less consistent than say Chanel etc.).

Pretty sure the only Dior product I’ve tried is Diorshow, which I absolutely loved, but am allergic to 🙁 I actually repurchased a second tube before I reacted to it, no idea why it took so long! Years later I bought an eye kit which had Diorshow Iconic, and I loved that too but I reacted in the exact same way! Raised red lumps along my lash line which then crust over and weep as they heal. I LOVED the mascara though!!

Are the shimmer stars comparable to the hourglass ambient lighting powders?
They’re much more shimmery than the Ambient Lighting powders!
I asked to my dior represent a few times and the shimmer star doesnt exist no more!! i have stocked some amber diamond before they discontinued it!

Two thumbs up for Diorskin Nude, first time I’ve ever bought a Dior foundation and it makes my MAC foundations look like spackle in comparison. Wears well, too.
I cannot find Amber Diamond ANYWHERE. (Saks, Nordstrom, Neimans, Lord & Taylor, Sephora ect). Christine do you know if they officially discontinued it!? I have Rose and love, love, love it, and was holding out on Amber Diamond until summer was closer. This is the closest I’ve ever been to actually being completely distraught over a makeup item being discontinued.

I wasn’t able to find it online (except for $99 on Amazon!), and Dior’s site makes it seem like it is only temporarily out of stock, but I don’t really know how their site works and whether that’s true or not. I know a reader commented that these were being discontinued soon, but I haven’t heard anything from Dior.
Your best bet would be to try seeing if a local store has it in stock, perhaps even if Nordstrom (I think Saks and NM do it, too) can locate it at any store and have it shipped to you.
Do you know if Dior discontinued amber diamond?

Oooh I love Dior! My faves are the lip maximizer, rosy glow blush, diorshow lash maximizer, diorshow extase, and the amber diamond! Amber diamond was sold out last time i was in sephora (last week).
