Urban Decay Zodiac & Blackheart Nail Colors Reviews, Photos, Swatches
Urban Decay Zodiac Nail Color
Urban Decay Zodiac Nail Color ($15.00 for 0.30 fl. oz.) is described as a “smoky green with gold, green and blue 3-D micro-glitter.” It’s a deep, dark forest green with flecks of blue, chartreuse, and emerald green shimmer and micro-glitter. It was mostly opaque after two coats, but you might do a third to get a really rich, inky color. The consistency was slightly on the thicker side, but it didn’t pool along the edges and dry down was average to slightly quicker than average. It dried to a nice, shiny finish and could be worn without a top coat if desired. Zoya Chita (P, $8.00) has a totally different texture and is lighter. NARS Night Porter (LE, $19.00) is a bit darker, but the composition is similar, though the sparkle seemed finer in it. China Glaze Glittering Garland (LE, $8.00) is brighter, warmer, with predominantly green micro-glitter. Zoya Logan (P, $8.00) is brighter. See comparison swatches.
Blackheart Nail Color ($15.00 for 0.30 fl. oz.) is described as a “smoky greige with red and multicolored shimmer.” It’s a deepened, dark brown with warm, caramel undertones and shimmer that shifts from a warm, golden bronze to a coppery red. The shimmer was very, very fine. The consistency wasn’t too thick or too thin, and it was opaque after two coats. It dried down a bit faster than average, and the finish was moderately shiny without a top coat. Urban Decay Barlust (LE) is darker, has different color shimmer. Dior Exquis (LE, $24.00) is warmer, lighter, less shimmer-shift. Rescue Beauty Lounge Ghost (LE, $20.00) is darker, more bronze. See comparison swatches.

Thanks for the review! How does Blackheart compare to Illamasqua Facet?
Not comparable at all, IMO! http://www.temptalia.com/illamasqua-facet-hemlock-nail-varnishes-reviews-photos-swatches
They are different indeed! Look forward to testing this. Thanks for the reply 😀
I need Zodiac. There’s just no other way to say it. I NEED IT
I don’t get why UD seems to only release LE nail polish when they don’t have any in the permanent range. It would make sense to add a nail polish line if they’re going to continue to do them, and they’d make more money. Nail polish tends to go bad much faster than eye shadow, and people tend to go through nail polish faster than most other products, so why not just make them constantly available?
From what I see from readers and in general in beauty, few are getting through either, and a lot of people just thinner to revive older polish.
Every couple of months I go through my nail polish and end up tossing at least 3-4. I’ve tried using thinner, but they end up changing in consistency, and some actually smell weird. Still, I think UD would stand to make more money if they added polish to the line.
While I do wish UD would make some permanent nail polish, sounds like you’ve just had bad luck? I have nail polish I purchased in high school (I’m 30 now) that is just fine. The only recent nail polish issue I had is with one bottle of Zoya I bought where the brush didn’t want to thread back onto the bottle properly.
I’ve revived several bottles with Seche Restore (old bottles, so I didn’t mind the fact there was toluene in the thinner), and I also know that not all thinners sold are equal: I guess there are some out there with acetone in them, and acetone just breaks down polish.
Also, UD still hasn’t wowed me with any of the newer polish shades? The last two, one was a dupe of a Zoya I’d owned awhile, and then there was plain ol’ gunmetal. These two, Zodiac doesn’t seem to capture the uniqueness that the eyeshadow has, and…Blackheart just doesn’t wow me. But I might be way too picky of a nail polish customer for them, since I own tons of nail polish.
They are both gorgeous. They have a lovely mystical quality and I love the names. However I’m not sure I love them enough for the price.
Hmm. I’m not much of a fan of Blackheart after all because it’s too brown. Although, it does look nice with the shimmer and is kind of pretty in certain light. Not certain, but I may skip it. Zodiac is definitely a keeper, though.
Blackheart is such a cool shade!
Blackheart doesn’t look at all like the eyeshadow version to me!
I think an exact dupe for Zodiac would be Jack the Lad from Butter London. They look exactly the same in the photos. 😀
Good to know – sorry, I do not have that shade myself, so I couldn’t weigh in or say anything about it!
