Pacifica Sea Foam Complete Face Wash Review & Photos

Pacifica Sea Foam Complete Face Wash ($11.00 for 5.0 fl. oz.) is supposed to be a “gentle, sulfate-free foaming cleanser that removes daily toxins and makeup.” Skincare seems to be a new venture (well, beyond body creams) for Pacifica, which I’ve personally known primarily as a fragrance brand, so I didn’t have high expectations for this. I’ve been loving all things coconut-scented lately, though (it’s the summer–coconut always reminds me of warm summer days spent at the beach), so I figured I’d give it a try.

I actually quite love it! It has been surprisingly great as a cleanser, and even better? It’s very budget-friendly. It has a gel-like consistency that’s clear, but it lathers into a creamy, kind of milky-like, lather and really breaks down all bits and bobs of my makeup–even heavy eye makeup and mascara. I work it into my entire face, and I have no issues with my eyes burning, stinging, tearing, or clouding when using this. Every time I’ve used it, I’ve reveled at how remarkably gentle it is, and Muse, who is more discerning about her skincare than I am, felt the same way. My skin felt soft and clean but never stripped, tight, or dry. It smells primarily of coconut, but there’s a little citrus and zest to it.  The purity of the coconut, though, smells a lot like raw coconut oil to me.

Ingredients: purified water, cocomidopropyl betaine (coconut source), sodium cocoyl glutamate (coconut source), sodium cocoyl sulfoacetate (coconut source) sodium cocoamphoacetate, decyl glucoside (corn source), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, glycerin (vegetable), aloe barbadensis leaf juice, glycerin (vegetable), magnesium ascorbyl phosphate, glycol stearate, carica papaya extract, lemon bioflavanoids, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, cocos nucifera (coconut) water, citrus acid, tocopherol acetate, panthenol, NaPCA, allantoin, nori extract, garcinia mangostana peel extract (mangosteen), camelia sinensis leaf extract (white tea), sea algae extract, sodium benzoate, potassium sorbate, ethylhexylglycerin, fragrance (all natural).

I’ve got to comment on this cleanser. I’m not particularly picky about what I use to cleanse my face. My skin isn’t the least bit sensitive and I have been able to use anything I’ve tried with no problems…except this.
I won Pacifica’s complete line of skincare. I was so excited to try this. I too love coconut scent. The day after I used this, my face broke out terribly! Mind you, I’m close to 60 years old and my face NEVER breaks out.
Oh well, I assumed there must be something that I’m allergic to in this product so I passed it on to a young woman friend. She broke out too! In the trash in went. : (

Ooh, this sounds absolutely wonderful, Christine! I’m neurotically loyal to my Marcelle Essentials Cleansing Milk, but this sounds perfect for my sister (who hates having to double-cleanse to remove all of her makeup). I’ll have to put it on her radar — thanks for the review! 🙂

I’ve been using this for a little bit more than a week and I love it!
Just FYI, not all Targets carry it! I had to go on their website to find which one did, and when I went there, there was only one in stock!

This stuff is a life saver for me. I have really sensitive dry skin, and this doesn’t dry my skin out in the least and has really reduced redness. I love it love it love it, it’s even replaced my Lush, which I never thought I’d be replacing!

Hi Christine,

Where can I purchase it from? I know you normally post a link or state which store but I didn’t see anything with that info.

Have you ever used Purpose or Clean and Clear Foaming Facial Cleanser for Sensitive Skin? (Other than the coconut scent) this sounds sort of similar? Would you say the formulas have similarities or am I off base here?

I love the smell of this so much and I was so happy to find a vegan face wash. But, I think theres something in this I’m alergic to. Which is weird, because Im not alergic to anything, that I know of. But, I broke out and my face is so incredibly dry now. I’m usually fighting oil. I also tried a new face primer, but I dont think thats the problem. I stopped using this a few days ago and my face is still trying to recover. Its a bummer, I wanted to love this.

As with all skin care products there are often concerns about the products effect on sensitive skin. Noticed some have these concerns with this product or are experiencing break outs or another irritation. Some ingredients are classified as irritants by the European Union – classification and labelling bureau to mention one and looking through this products list of ingredients there are some of these known irritants in the list. One specifically ‘ethylhexylglycerin’ and another ‘sodium cocoamphoacetate’ which is a known irritant substance also referred to as a ‘surfactant’ which are found in many personal-care products. Given these facts not everyone using this product is going to experience an irritation on their skin but if you have an especially sensitive skin perhaps consult a dermatologist for a recommended product.

I’ve been using this cleaner ever since I read this article for about a month now and I have to say that this cleaner is fantastic! I was so surprised about how gentle it feels after washing my face. I love it! Thank you for recommendation.
