Dior Dolly Pink (453) Addict Gloss ($29.50 for 0.21 fl. oz.) is a medium pink with subtle cool undertones and a pearly shimmer. Guerlain Cherry Pink is cooler-toned, less shimmered. Guerlain Cherry Swing is darker. Chanel Venus is pinker. Urban Decay Trashed is similar.

It has semi-sheer color coverage, and a lot of what you can see is visible shimmer, as it coats lips in a pearly shimmer-sheen finish. The pink coloring tints and amplifies the natural pink tones of my lip color. If you have redder or more pigmented lips naturally, you’ll find this looks rather different on you, due to the sheerness. Dolly Pink lasted three and a half hours on me, just shy of average. The consistency is lightweight, on the thinner side, non-sticky, and doesn’t feel gritty (even as the gloss wears away and the shimmer remains).

Christine, would you prefer a drug store lipgloss over the high end one? Considering mainly on the price, does it really matter? Thank you for all your hard work and down to earth attitude towards it.

I really don’t like synthetic fruity scents or any grit in a gloss (but I love glosses with a lot of shimmer), and both of those are common to drugstore glosses – so generally speaking, I opt for high end myself, only because it’s more consistent with what I know I prefer. I like Maybelline’s glosses, and Revlon’s Super Lustrous gloss I think it is, is also nice.

It truly depends on what you are looking for in a gloss – some want it extra shiny, longer lasting, hydrating, fine shimmer, no grit, no tackiness, scent/no scent, etc. There are absolutely glosses I’d pay $40 for but then others I wouldn’t buy at all, even if they were $10!
