Temptalia Asks You - What kind of makeup do you wear to work/school?
What kind of makeup do you wear to work/school? Do you have any rules or restrictions? Do you break the rules or follow them?
At school, there are no restrictions or anything, BUT since very few around me wear much noticeable makeup, and I often do not have the time (or simply do not want to wake up to make the time, ha!) to do a full face, I’m usually found in minimal makeup at school.
I love bright colored eyeshadows!! My school doesn’t have any restrictions at all with the kind of makeup we can wear (guys or girls). However, the program (nursing) does. Before we even started class, we attended an orientation.. the Dean said our makeup needs to “be kept at a minimum”. GRRRRRR. We can’t even wear nail polish =( So, with that said, all I use is foundation, eyeliner, mascara, keep the brows neat and slap on some gloss!
Oh, wow, talk about restrictive! I suppose I can see polish, since you work with patients hands-on or deal with chemicals or whatnot… any particular reason why it’s a minimum makeup kind of place?
I have 8am classes and I’m a commuting student, so I’m usually too tired (and too underdressed) to do any extensive makeup. I always wear concealer and powder, but I’ve found that it’s much easier to put on tinted moisturizer in the morning then foundation. I usually put on a neutral eyeshadow and mascara. And sometimes eyeliner. Also, I think the Lip Conditioner is perfect to wear to class. It’s quick to put on and I don’t feel like I’m wasting good lip glosses for nothing.
I totally feel you, Kristen! I can barely get to class on time for my 8:30 one. TLCs are awesome for just a hint of color and no fuss application.
I have 8,10 am classes,so I gotta get up early in the morning,so I don’t have much time to do a complete make-up,usually i put concealer on,then powder, and i put eyeshadows and eyeliner, and black pencil in my eyes,if i have the time 🙂
There was a year of my life where I put on a full face everyday, despite having class at 8am. I don’t know how I did it, it’s so tough!
I literally have 20 min to get ready in the morning, so i have managed to streamline my makeup routine quite well. I work in a finance office so I have to be conservative with color. I wear bare study paint pot, either tete a tint or vanilla with a bit of a darker contrasting color in the crease. Then I line my waterline, put on some mascara and touche eclat, sculpt and shape blush, lipstick and gloss and im out.
Sounds like you definitely have it down to a science, Adina!!
I’m a sucker for color coordinating my clothes with my eye makeup, but because I work in a business office, I tend to lean toward mostly neutral shades. If I add any color, its usually very subtle. I have to be at work at 630am & I have a 35 mile commute, so my morning routine is usually shoved into an hour or less – that includes a shower.
Me, too, Ariele! How do you get in your pop of color? Liners or just a touch on the lid?
At school my makeup is almost exclusively Bobbi Brown stuff because its quick and neutral. The Bobbi Brown compact foundation with the beauty blender is a lifesaver.
Bobbi Brown definitely knows how to do soft, neutral, and makeup that’s great for all women.
Usually its a full face of whatever when I’m at school. I make the time because I find the ritual calming.
Ohh, very nice, Tekoa. I honestly wish I could get myself to do the same!
I always wear fun colors and new looks at work. I’m still waiting for my career to find me, and right now I wear a uniform to work. Wearing fun and wild makeup helps me feel more like an individual and more like myself!
Oh, that’s a great reason to wear what you do to work! Uniforms aren’t always so fun!
on a daily basis to work I wear mac studio fix, mac plush lash, maybelline lip gloss in spiced potion (nude), and mac blush in sweet as cocoa. i work in a very professional environment so i dont like to go all out there. So i just keep it neutral but still polished. when i’m not at work its a WHOLE other story 🙂 I do a full face.
Yay, Plushlash! 🙂 Haha, I can just imagine you goin’ crazyyy for those nights out!
When i first came to law school, i thought i was going to have to give up my bright, pretty colors in favor of more conservative neutrals. But my school isn’t strict at all so some days i still use my colors. For the most part though, i would rather sleep in than do any makeup whatsoever. For my morning classes, i usually go 100% bare faced. If my first class is later in the afternoon, I’ll usually do a neutral eye with pop of color under the waterline, with my everyday minerals foundation or some days i’ll do a sweep of 1 or 2 colors, like golder’s green or lovely lily, nothing too bright. Usually no cheek color or lip gloss though.
I end up too lazy to do much makeup for law school, lol. I hardly see any girls with full makeup!
i do my makeup pretty fast so i wear any color depending on my outfit. thank goodness for the 187, putting on foundation is faster. good makeup brushes helps me work faster.
That’s great, lucky you for being a fast worker!
i’m either all or none — either i’ll do a full face before work, or no makeup at all when i oversleep or am exhausted.
we have no restrictions, so i usually feel free to try out new looks and crazier colors (to see people’s reactions before i go out in the world!! lol)
That sounds a bit like me, Courtney! It’s great that you don’t have any restrictions, though 😀
I always wear foundation/concealer/powder, no matter what! Since I work in an informal environment, I can wear anything type of make up, and most of the time – I do! On most days, I prefer wearing a satin/moisturizing lipstick, powder blush, eye liner and lots of mascara.
It’s nice that you aren’t restricted by your job 😀 It means you can go all out or be lazy!
I rarely go too far out there for work because frankly, nobody appreciates it! Just kidding. It’s too much work.
LOL, Erin!
Oh! But I do usually keep a foundation compact or at least Mac Fix powder and the shadestick in wet cement, because it gives a little hint of dimension. I also love Origins Pinch Your Cheeks tubes.
I’ll have to look into those Origins Pinch Your Cheeks tubes!
I wear whatever takes my fancy on that particular day… I have to wear a black top for my uniform so there’s no colour clashes with my face! I agree with Beth, wearing it makes me feel more like myself.
That’s great, Stacey! I’m glad you are able to wear whatever you want, and that it helps you feel more like yourself 😀
I am in pharmacy school and there are no restrictions on what we can wear to class, and as for rotations we need to look “professional” and not “alienate the patients.”
I always wear fairly neutral colors anyway, so I just whatever I feel like each day. I do a full face everyday, but a full face for me is pretty natural and takes only 15 minutes or so (I use moisturizer, concealer, MSF Natural, blush, 1-3 e/s, mascara, maybe eyeliner, and some sort of lip product – usually just lipglass).
I do wear more makeup than most of the other women in my classes, but I don’t care – I love makeup! My husband is in his first year of law school, so we don’t get to dress up and go out much, so if I didn’t wear makeup during the day, I’d never get to 🙂
I often find that I don’t have many “occasions” to get dolled up with a full face of makeup, so I try to find reasons to wear it otherwise 🙂
Good luck in pharmacy school! Oh, and to your husband, in law school 🙂
I usually wear some kind of full face, and when I skip something, it’s too noticeable! For example, I skipped bronzer (contouring), and one of my coworkers asked me if I was sick because I looked pale (sad!!). Products I wear every day are foundation, blush, eye shadow, and eyebrow filler, and I *must* curl my lashes, even if I don’t wear mascara. Secondary products are bronzer, mascara, lipstick, and eyeliner.
Anyway, I wear a lot of neutrals to work and school, although that is just my preference. While I make time to put on makeup, I do not like to make time to do my hair, and I am really a jeans girl, so a full-on dramatic look looks really out of place! If I want to use some color, I might use one or two e/s shades as a wash, or something subtle.
I don’t ever touch up my makeup because I don’t like to take the time, so whatever lip product I put on gets applied once, in the morning. After that, it’s lip balm.
LOL! How amazing that a coworker noticed! I’m a jeans kinda gal, too 🙂
We are so similar – I am just like that with lip stuff!
Yeah, I don’t like being asked if I’ve been crying (I have always had dark circles under my eyes) or if I’ve been losing sleep. I usually at least use the fix powder for a little coverage under my eyes.
I know what you mean! My mom always tells me how pale I am, and it drives me nuts.
If I have to get to school by 7:45am I just do loose powder, (with my buffer brush) and then bronzer, blush + highlight (with my 187) and mascara.
Miss any of those “crucial” steps and people tell me I look sick. =S
If I have the extra hour I just add some eyeshadow and maybe eyeliner. =)
Sounds like you have your routine down pretty well 😀
