5 Must-Have MAC Pink Eyeshadows (Plus 4 Must-Have Non-MAC Eyeshadows!)

5 Must-Have MAC Pink Eyeshadows

Passionate eyeshadow is a matte, bright red-pink. It’s not a true red, and it’s not a hot pink–it’s somewhere in between. It’s not always the easiest color to wear, and I definitely don’t think necessarily *everyone* should have it, but it’s a nice pop of color for anyone who will actually wear it!

Da Bling eyeshadow is a smooth, blendable medium warm-toned pink with gold shimmer. A lot of pinks tend to be cool or neutral, so it’s great to have one with a warm undertone (especially for those who have warmer complexions).

Expensive Pink eyeshadow is a peachy-pink that really makes pink way more wearable than you think. If you’re a little wary of hot pinks, bright pinks, and baby pinks–consider Expensive Pink. It has only a little bit of pink; I’d almost describe it as a dirty pink.

Hush eyeshadow is a sheer, shimmery highlighter with just a hint of pink. Hush makes a great all-over lid color in neutral looks, but it is a great way to highlight the brow bone when you are also wearing pink or purple eyeshadows. The touch of pink helps tie everything together.

Swish eyeshadow is a deeper fuchsia pink, which runs darker and has more dimension than a really bright fuchsia. It runs more fuchsia-purple than straight pink, but it can always be brightened by layering with a bright pink base, too.

4 Must-Have Pink Eyeshadows

Urban Decay Hotpants eyeshadow is a shimmery, medium pink shade that’s easily blendable and looks great with golds and other warm-toned pinks.

NARS Nepal eyeshadow is a shimmery, soft rose-pink with almost a multi-colored shimmer in it. It’s not too bold, and it almost has a bit of subtly to it.

Make Up For Ever Neon Pink #75 eyeshadow is a ridiculous hot fuchsia pink. It’s pretty bright, and it makes the must-have list because it *is* different. It’s rich, pigmented, and smooth. It’s a color that stops traffic, and like MAC Passionate, may not make everyone’s must-buy list.

NARS Fathom eyeshadow is a soft, grayish pink with silver shimmer.

I’m *still* scared of pinks, but I think I will check out ‘Da Bling’ based on what you wrote of it (I’m NC35) and I have Expensive Pink!

Would Sushi Flower be considered pink… maybe not? I tend to shy away from them, scared I’ll look bruised!

I just bought MUFE #75 this weekend and I love it! SO bright and pigmented. I also adore Birthday Cake by Flirt! It’s a light shimmery pink.

the only MAC pink I really have is Sunset B from Starflash. I will admit that you have to pack on the color to get this to show up.

I love bright pinks. My fave would be MAC’s bright fuchsia pigment, followed by MAC’s Romping, then Ben Nye’s Azalea eyeshadow. I love to wear it in the crease for an unexpected pop of colour.

Thank you so much for doing these ‘best eye shadow’ recommendations. I would love to see pics of these eye shadows and swatches would even be awesome. I’m rather new to MAC and I’m building my collection – so pics would be great!

Hi Amanda.
I have pictures of allmost every MAC eyeshadow/pigment, that I have collected from various sites. I use ebay, photobucket, flickr, google, MUA etc.
If you email me at [email protected] and tell what colors you would like to see, I can easily send them to you. Christine also has a lot colors listed too here on the site, so look around.

Kind regards, Julie

Christine – I am loving these “must-have” posts. About a month ago, i think i wrote you asking what some of your “must-have” shadows were. These posts have been the perfect answer to my question. Having you & the readers give advice on the right colors is a huge help & takes the guess work out of trying to pick the right shade. Thanks so much for this! Keep ’em coming. Can’t wait to see what others you do. :):)

MAC Swish is a favorite pink of mine, as is MAC Pink Pearl Pigment.
I LOVE Fyrinnae’s Love Potion, Aromaleigh’s Strawberry Despair and Fanclub and Peony.

I also have sushi flower, as well as Passionate, Expensive Pink, MUFE #75, and a fantastic berry red from Chanel called Halo.
I like a dramatic red/pink eye (think Amy Lee)… I smudge in black kohl liner to top lashes, sushi flower all over the lid, up to brow bone, with vanilla highlight on under brow, and then re-do the upper lash liner with either Foxy Lady, Raven or a black liquid liner. Its not so much for day time, but if applied lightly it could be.

I also use the darker pinks/reds in the crease. I’m light(NW20 now) to medium skin(quite tanned in summer) but I cannot carry off cool tones very well so I gravitate to reds/oranges/bronzes a lot.

OR a great look I’ve done is Grain over lid, Sushi Flower on outer lid and in crease, Star Violet to add depth to crease, Indigo kolh liner sumdged into top lashes and carried around to outer corners of lower lashes. Usually a cat eye shape with the liner works well, with Nylon on tear duct and brow bone. LOTS of black mascara 🙂

The pink from Almay’s Intensify Eye Color Trio for Hazels is the most wearable pink. Its a golden, mid-tone pink that has a finish right between super shimmer and frost. You can use it as a highlighter on your cheekbones (where it adds a GORGEOUS glow!!), or use it anywhere on the eyelid – I find it works best as a pop on the inner lid with the trio’s muted gold on the middle lid, with the same trio’s bronzy brown on the outer lid and crease. You can even crush a little bit of it up with the end of a shadow brush and mix the loose pink pigment with clear lipgloss for glam shimmer!

I’m currently wearing Lancome’s Round midnight duo and the pink in it is a very pretty shimmmery cool (bit lilac-ish) pink. Lovely. 🙂 I also like the pink side of Pink split mineralize duo shadow, and the dark pink in the Hello Kitty quad, don’t know its name. I wear a lot of pink, so I tend to wear a lot of pink e/s too.

I love these posts. Very usefull and fun.
I use a lot of pinks:
All Girl pigment
Apricot Pink pigment
Fuchsia pigment
Pink Pearl pigment
Swish es, one of my faworites
Playful, I rarely use it though, bad color payoff
Melton Mauve, although I am not mad about mattes

I also like pink as highlights and on lids, i use:
Pink Freeze, love it
Pink Opal pigment
Helium pigment, tricky consistency
Kitchsmas pigment
Jest, my absolut no. one eyeshadow of all times
Seedy pearl, great for pinks and purples

I really want Sunset B and Sushi Flower, so they are my next target LOL

I have all your recommended MAC pink eyeshadows except passionate. I keep passing that one over because of the brightness, but eventually I’m sure I’ll purchase it.

Jacquelyn Avatar

I like Passionate, Da Bling and Swish! All are gorgeous! Pink Venus is also my favorite pink eyeshadow and wearable for everyday. I would like to get Hush, Expensive Pink and Sushi Flower.

Shel Avatar

my fav MAC pinks:
Sweet Lust, Yogurt, Quarry, Pen N Pink, Lovely Lilly pigment. I’m a bit on the cool side!

Lorac Guava
Laura Mercier Morning Dew, Cashmere, Pink Oyster

This is a great post! It’s really good to see what you and others think of different shades and to get some suggestions for shades to try.

I have Expensive Pink and I LOVE it (I think I would be gutted if Mac discontinued it). It’s such a flattering colour on and it goes so well with other shades. I love wearing it on the lid over Rubenesque paintpot, with Cranberry in the crease and a shade like Nylon in the inner corner and it also looks really nice using Embark or Woodwinked instead of Cranberry in the crease.

I recently got Dear Cupcake and I really like it – nice fresh pink colour and I also like the satin finish. Urban Decay Deluxe eyehadow in Sting is a really deep, darker pink colour. It’s quite bold but it looks really nice combined with greys or browns in the crease to make it more wearable.

i have swish and never wear it, because of the high fall out factor. same with pink freeze. i swear i will never buy a MAC frost again!

i do like MAC girlicious…from the liza collection i believe. i bought too faced glamazon in a palette recently and need to attempt some looks with it too.

Post Haste rocks my world. Even my mom who HATES to wear makeup will ask me to put some on her. She thought it was red and I’m like no mom it’s more pink!

lizy Avatar

A really pretty way to wear post haste is to use pink frezze over lid (bring up a high as you want, Swish on outer 2/3 of lid, & post haste in crease, It is really pretty!

Jessie Avatar

Pink Freeze, Swish, Yogurt, Sushi Flower, Dear Cupcake! (LOVE that one), Hush.. Oh wow lol I love pinks now!

Sunset B is good. I love the starflash line.

Girly is awesome, too!

Jessie Avatar

I used to be afraid of pinks lol Cause I used to think they made my eyes look red. But if I use a dark shadow as a liner, it evens it out.

I like the pink from my Too Dolly quad. Though, I passed on the Rose Romance pinks.

Bettina Avatar

I once did a funky one with juxt on my lid, I think shadowy lady in the outer corner and put sushi flower in the crease. Sushi flower give like a hint of pink without over doing it..it was fun kind of springy. LOL

I was wondering if anyone had any ideas what kind of a look would be good for brown eyes, medium skin using urban decay “hotpants” eyeshadow. Thank you so much
