5 Favorites: Pops of Color Eyeliner (Sephora Contour Eye Pencil Edition)

Now that I’ve reviewed all of Sephora’s Contour Eyeliners (one of my favorite formulas, period, with the bonus of being $10 a pop), I thought I’d share my five favorite pops of color from the range as a way to wrap up. (Tomorrow, I’ll share my favorite neutrals/basics, so stay tuned!) What are your favorite budget-friendly eyeliner formulas?

  1. Sephora Love Affair — a deepened plum with a pearly finish–it plays well with so many eyeshadow combinations
  2. Sephora My Boyfriend’s Jeans — a rich blue with a hint of purple
  3. Sephora Surfer Babe — a blue with a hint of teal and a pearly sheen
  4. Sephora Good Mood — a green-teal with a pearly sheen and subtle gold shimmer
  5. Sephora Go For a Ride — a dark forest green with a pearly sheen

We appreciate enthusiasm for new releases but ask readers to please hold questions regarding if/when a review will be posted as we can't commit to or guarantee product reviews. We don't want to set expectations and then disappoint readers as even products that are swatched don't always end up being reviewed due to time constraints and changes in priorities! Until these came along, GOSH Velvet Liners were probably my favourite “budget friendly” pencil liners but the Sephora ones are several dollars less than GOSH. And I absolutely love these Sephora ones – my faves are Diving in Malaysia, Surfer Babe, Snakeskin Dress, Good Mood and Cappuccino.

Here in Canada, they’re sold in the most ubiquitous drugstore chain in the country (it’s also the one that gives generous loyalty points – so much so that I purchased Guerlain Meteorites and a fragrance gift set from Prada priced at $120 for absolutely nothing!)

These are really pretty! My caveat with these specific liners, though, is that when I’ve orders them and finally mangle the wrapping off, I open up a broken pencil that’s either a mess and won’t sharpen until halfway gone, or it’s perfect and works or works terribly! So I stopped buying them. Has anyone else experienced this with this liner range from Sephora? I shop online so it’s a quite an amount of time to return a $10 item that’s so small and weightless.. When I’ve gotten a good one, though, I LOVE it.. So apparently I have a love/meh relationship with these! 😀

I buy mine in-store but I’ve never had a single problem with one being broken. The plastic wrapper is a pain to get off but I find if I can get it started with a finger-nail and then use either a tweezer (not my best one) or a needle nosed pliers, I can pull along the perforations pretty easily. As for sharpening, I pop them into the freezer for 15 minutes or so – makes it easier to sharpen pretty much any pencil.

Haha, the shrink wrap is a pain! So when I finally open it, I’d like a well made eyeliner! Not broken, or lacking color. Perhaps I got old ones.. It’s good to hear so many have success with these! 😀 Thanks so much! 🙂

The only one I own is Galaxy Girl, and I absolutely LOVE the formula on it! Now, having tried one of these Sephora liners and seeing your reviews, I want to get many more. May even switch from my Nyx Slide-on Jet Black for tightlining to the Sephora one!

That blackened plum and dark green is really pretty. I’m pretty fair, and black liner can look harsh, so I love colors like blackened plum and blackened greens. I can’t wear teal that well, but if I did, Surfer Babe would be mine.
