2018 Readers' Choice Awards: Nominate Your Favorites Now!
It’s that time of the year again! It’s time to nominate your favorite products and brands from 2017 as well as your all-time favorite formulas. We have tried to make it easier for readers as well as on our end when it comes to compiling nominees. You can start typing your favorite brand or product, and it will suggest what you’re looking for using our product database, but as always, you can write-in your favorites as well. All of the nominations will be compiled and the top 10-15 (depending on how many ties there are) will make the voting ballot. You do not have to nominate for every category; fill in as many categories as you wish to participate in.
- Nominations: December 20th, 2017 through January 3rd, 2018 10AM PST.
- Voting: January 8th, 2018 through January 14th, 2018 10AM PST.
- Results: January 20th, 2018
I’m surprised I wasn’t able to find Kat Von D’s Tattoo liquid liner. It’s a totally different product to the Ink liner.
I just typed in “tattoo liner” and got this result? https://www.temptalia.com/product/kat-von-d-tattoo-liner/
Strange! It suggested all sorts of other items — I typed in literally just “kat von d tattoo liner” and got nothing. :/
You can always write it in if it doesn’t work – when I tally everything up, I either add missing products to the database if they are high enough nominated or I add the right product ID # for stuff we already have so it gets counted in. That’s why we have the “keep” your submission as is if we don’t have it! 🙂
I was not able to nominate KLPolish for Best Nail Products. Thanks!
You can nominate anything, even if we don’t have it, you just have to leave it as a write-in! After nominations close, then I go through and handle all of the write-ins and compile them. 🙂
Thanks for doing this again this year. It’s interesting to see how the votes come out.
Yeah, I almost didn’t do it this year, so it’s nice to hear that! 🙂
I hope you continue doing this, It is one of the posts I like most!
One more massive undertaking for Ms Work Ethic…and this one is a bear! Thanks for doing it again. The results are always interesting.
I look forward to this all year long! It is nice to add my two cents and nice to see what everyone else thinks, too.
Whaaat?! No! Not sure if it means anything, but I always look forward to this! I know it’s a ton of work for you, but I’d rather volunteer as seasonal help for your team than for Temptalia to not have this!
Thanks for all you do, Christine!
I’m very glad you kept it this year! It’s tradition, and always fun to find out who the winners are in January.
Since this has to be one of my favorite yearly events in the beauty world, I am truly happy from the bottom of my heart that you decided to keep the tradition going this year, Christine! We all know how hard you work on the blog, and this particular feature might be a PITA for you by now, but let me just say how very much I appreciate your choosing to do it!
80-90% of my picks were not options 🙁 Thanks for doing this. I love reading the final results!
I hope you wrote them in!
Yes, I did 🙂 Thanks!
I feel a little empty after doing this, which is a reflection on the makeup industry and myself, not Temptalia at all. Most years, I have a hard time deciding what to nominate because there were so many things that I loved. This year, so many brands slipped, or just had stuff that wasn’t interesting, that I had to really think if there was anything I loved for some of the best of 2017 stuff. I ended up changing a few of my all-time favorites, too. Sad times.
I’ve been going through my awards and having some similar feelings on a few of the ’17 categories! Though I felt a lot better after I actually went back and looked through the year and remembered that product and this one 🙂
I had to actually go look at my collection, too. The things that were good this year were REALLY good, thank goodness. I was pleasantly surprised to find how much more Kat von D I bought than in previous years.
I feel the same, yet on the plus side, the sales this year were fantastic IMO and many sites offered 50% off or free shipping for the first time.
The Black Friday sales this year were awesome! I spent more on those than I think I had the whole rest of the year combined.
Ditto! I started out thinking it was because I was on a replacement only buy, but by the end of the survey I realized the reason my low buy was so easy this year was because not a lot held my attention. Colour Pops My Little Pony collection got me, but that was almost more about nostalgia.
I’m glad to hear it’s not just me. I was feeling a bit ungrateful because I have so much. I spent much less overall on makeup this year than in the previous few.
Done! Thank you Christine for doing it again this year. Personally, I’ve found it easier and faster to fill in (as compared to last year).
I would strongly encourage the other readers to take a few minutes and submit their choices. It’s not just a way to respond to Christine’s efforts to provide us with a platform where we can express our makeup preferences, but it’s also a way to make our voices heard. Brands keep an eye on this blog.
Thank you, Nicole! 🙂 I think the Reader awards can do a really good job at illustrating changes in the industry, too – certain brands that resonate (or don’t) – and the results are always interesting to see.
I just wanted to comment that I’m impressed with the design of your survey. It has the flexibility of allowing us to nominate anything, while still automating as much as possible. I nominate temptalia for most high-tech beauty site. 😉
Yeah, the automation helps a LOT! It used to all be write-ins and then me spending a week collating them, lol!
I love this! Love nominating, love voting, love seeing the results.
Every year I look forward to this list coming out.
I love this!
Do I have to submit my choices all at once? There are some categories that are easy for me and some that will take time to think about. So if you leave some categories empty when you submit, can you go back later to fill them in? (Please forgive my technical ignorance!)
It makes me realize how many products I haven’t tried yet, so I can’t nominate them, like Pat McGrath lipsticks!
Hey Seraphine,
Let me check on this… I think so but my developer would know better than I 🙂
Hey guys, I’m donating these codes to anyone who wants them for UrbanDecay.com. I have no use for them. They expire at midnight TODAY but remember that’s likely Pacific Time. They work on guest checkout/with other accounts.
20% off $55 (excludes sale items):

Just wanted to give back to this great community. 🙂
Thanks for doing this! Can’t wait for the results. I learned about so many new products as a result of getting my daily email and checking the blog. Many are my new obsessions and often don’t cost a fortune.
Had to write in the Marc Jacobs coconut face primer… that paired with the Urban Decay Self-Adjusting has been my grail this year, SO GLAD I pulled the trigger on the MJ.
The MJ is the best primer ever !! It hurt really bad to spend that amount on it but it’s really worth it ! I use it every day now. Do you think the UD self adjusting would work for an extra pale princess? I have a hard time finding foundations that are my shades so rn, I use MJ coconut primer with the make up for ever water blend foundation. These pair perfectly with each other since they are both water-based but I do want to change it up though.
I have very dry skin.
I think the Self-Adjusting would be great for very fair skin. I myself am a Marc Jacobs Genius Gel 22 Bisque Light, and Nars Sheer Glow in Gobi is a close match (the MJ is the perfect match though) so I’m pretty close to the fair end of the spectrum with no real discernible undertone. You should swing through Sephora and grab a sample of it; I literally use half a pump over the MJ primer and I dot it on forehead, chin, and cheeks, then work it in with my hands (same for the MJ). Honestly between these two products, I could skip foundation and go right to my Urban Decay Naked concealer and then set with powder from there and go about my day. They offer quite a bit of coverage without much product at all.
My skin varies but year-round I use either Belif Aqua Bomb or Moisture Bomb and it keeps the dry air from AZ and CO at bay. I know you didn’t ask for suggestions but if you come across any Belif samples for free, it might help.
Thank you so much for all your hard work!!!I love looking at your site everyday????
Thank you so much for doing this again this year, Christine! It’s really nice to be able to a lot of readers’ faves all together! We appreciate all the hard work you put into your site, and the wonderful, supportive community you’ve helped to build!
Just reading that you almost didn’t do this and wanted to throw in my support! I look forward to this list every year, thanks for your hard work.
Thanks for all your hard work Christine! It’s never wasted and we really appreciate the effort you put into this blog and community.
Looking forward to seeing the results! My favourite post of the year from my favourite website! Cheers Christine!
I always confused to choose a beauty or makeup products. Lots of beauty/makeup products That I want it, not for My Needs.. lol..
Coz I don’t have enough budget for It. So with this Vote, make me easier/decide to choose and willing to buy & try the right one for Me. Thank You Temptalia for “choice Award” by readers Vote as such a tradition. I can’t wait to results!
I was surprised that my honest answer to “best liquid liner” was Nonie Creme’s Colour Prevails. It wasn’t with us long, but I reach for those liners every damn day over MAC, Stila, KVD, Lancôme etc…
This is very interesting. Thank you for doing this 🙂
