Smashbox Petal Metal Cover Shot Eye PaletteSmashbox Petal Metal Cover Shot Eye Palette ($28.00 for 0.21 oz.) is a very rosy/coppery mix of shades with lots of frosted and metallic shades (six to be exact) and two mattes. I do think that there are several different combinations to be created but find that they can run together side-by-side. I would recommend trying some of the lighter shades with a dampened brush to brighten and get more variance out of the palette.

About This Series

Each look idea is centered around a “quad” of four shades with the expectation that one might bring in the appropriate brow bone or additional transitional shade based on skin tone. I know that I tend to use more like five or six shades in a typical look, but I think that four is a happy medium to give a good idea of the “core” color scheme of a look while giving you the ability to lighten/darken as desired. I have listed the colors in this order: inner lid, middle of lid, outer lid/crease, and crease/above crease.

You might see combinations that seem slightly repeated but placement will vary (e.g. a halo placement where the lightest and more shimmery shade is placed on the center) as placement can also create a different effect/look! You might also want to consider incorporating your favorite matte/shimmer shades (as applicable) to increase the versatility of certain palettes. Consider these ideas a jumping off point!

Bought this little palette around a week ago, and have used it almost every day since! Over primer, though, I haven’t had any issues with poor application or pigmentation with any of the shades, but can definitely tell that without primer, Rose Quartz wouldn’t be so great. Perfect little rose-gold/ copper toned mini palette! Thanks for giving some more configuration inspiration that I hadn’t thought of yet!

I’m loving these look ideas Christine! Please keep them up. It’s helping me get a lot more use out of my palettes. 🙂

Thank you! This is so handy. I just got this palette and was looking for inspiration as I was afraid I’d tend to use the same colors most of the time. I made myself a chart with ten templates of the palette and am putting the placement numbers on each template for quick reference.
