Video Review: Rock & Republic (Blushes) First Impressions & Swatches

I reviewed CALL ME on Monday, but here’s a video I shot when I first opened up the four blushes I purchased from HauteLook, close-ups, me talking far too much per usual, and swatches.  I will do written reviews for the rest as well — not to fear!

  1. Whoa, the packaging is really wasteful! :O Also the price is quite steep for a blush. Not for me.

I bought 2 of these blushes of Huatelook. Xrated and Allnighter and I love them both. Very pigmented, luxury packaging, huge mirror. Worth the 20 bucks I spent because Nars are my HG blushes and those are 26 a piece. I also took advantage of the 50% off sale on Rock & Republic’s website and got 6 eyeshadows. Do you have any of the eyeshadows and if so, will you be reviewing soon? Thanks.

    • I have several, LOL! I bought a TON of their eyeshadows July 2009. Yes. 2009. I have not touched them. They’ve been on the “to review” list for eons.

Looking forward to your review of the eyeshadows.

Rock & Republic *had* a counter in the Nordstrom in the Dallas Galleria mall but it was pulled out because of poor sales. :( My friend was lucky enough to get her makeup done their once; she really liked the experience.

I’ve never seen this brand, where can you buy it (besides online)?

The packaging design is lavish and unique. What caught my attention though, is the mirror. In my experience, it seems like not many blushes come with mirrors anymore. Still I don’t think that the cute, shiny, a little bit over the top and even wasteful packaging is worth the extra money. These blushes retail for a lot more than other well known, high quality products. So the question is: Is the actual blush powder so, so, soooo good compared to those other blushes to be worth what it’s being sold for?

Hi, how is Tease compared to Mac Summer Rose? Are they the same one?

Thanks for the swatches! I bought Xrated during the 50% sale at the R&R website.I still haven’t decided if I like it- I’m warm/pin toned, and I cant decide if the raspberry is too cool for me or not. It really is an amazingly pigmented product, though, goes on great. Do you think Lust would be appropriate for an NW20 coloring? I’m also considering Bedroom.

  8. Rock & Republic blushes are my absolute FAVORITE. I bought 4 of these last summer on Hautelook and I have to say that the shade Bedroom has seriously blown me away — it’s absolutely gorgeous and my HG blush. Every time they go on sale, I consider buying a backup… but these blushes are so huge I don’t think I could ever hit pan!

What would be a good dupe for Tease? It’s so hard to get a hold of these blushes anymore. Thanks for your help!
