Valentine’s Day Makeup: Lady Gaga Lips & Purples

Here’s a fun look using Viva Glam Gaga! :) I wanted to warm up the eyes a bit, so I opted for a mix of pinks and purples with gold eyeliner (which was where I drew a lot of the warmth from), to pair it with the cooler pink from the lipstick. Happy Thursday!

Don’t forget, Spring Colour Forecast hits stores today!

You will need the following…

For eyes, start by applying Soft Ochre paint pot as your eyeshadow base all over the eye area with the 249. With the 239 and water-based mixing medium (or water), apply Stacked 1! light lilac pigment all over the lid area. Using the 239, apply Stars ‘n Rockets eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Lala eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Very Violet eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Lightly blend Black Tulip eyeshadow, with the 239, on the outer corner and lid. Lightly tap and brush Beautiful Iris eyeshadow directly above the inner tear duct for iridescence.  To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying El Dorado eyeliner on the lower lash line and sweeping lashes with Plushlash mascara.

For cheeks, apply Azalea Blossom blush ombre to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116.

For lips, apply Viva Glam Gaga lipstick first, and then layer Cultureclash lipglass for a complementing lip.

So beautiful, Christine! Love the purple and gold combo!
BTW, I agree with you boyfriend…you look fantastic in light pink lipstick (does that make me sound creepy?!) :)

  2. Sarah M says:

Wow… so beautiful. I love the touch of gold, with the eye liner. For some odd reason, I didn’t think it work but it is actually pretty awesome. Gorgeous look, Christine. :-)

  3. Jackie says:

    great job

  4. Steph says:

Pretty! I’m wearing my Lady Gagay lipstick today and looove it.

  5. SnickerDoodle says:

Gorgeous! I love how Gaga looks here. How would you compare El Dorado to UD’s Honey or Baked?

  6. Karli says:

I love the eye. It’s really cute.
But why is Gaga looking so clumpy? I really thought I was going to love her shade because I love pinks, but it doesn’t look like it applies so well.
I’d love to see a look with Cyndi. Because the more I look at Gaga, the more I am loving Cyndi.

  7. Diligent Shopper says:

    you look so darling

  8. Vina Vo says:

    Christine..
you seriously could pull off every lip color. haha
    i love this. :)

  9. Andreita says:

The look is fabulous but that lipstick won’t compliment my dark tan skin tone :*(

  10. Dusty says:

Pretty eyes! I’m so glad all the shots you’re doing now show a full-face with eyes closed! It’s great to be able to see how the eye colors look with the lipstick/blush/etc.

  11. Dandoona says:

Gorgeous, wow Christine bright colors look so good on u, great job as usual. AND btw gorgeous rose, that pic is stunning

  12. rashmi says:

so beautifulllll ( roses i must say hahahaha)
no dear u r also looking beautiful ….
the roses would be perfect match for ur sunset look the other day..

u carry on pinks very well … like u carry golds and teals
i wonder what other color is left ????

means u carry ur makeup very well and do wish for me as well plssss….
i do wanna have perfection like u do in blending all the colors…
any golden rules for blending ???

    • Christine says:

      Thank you so much, Rashmi!

Golden rule – blend less than you think. Either use a fluffy brush like the 217 to make sure you don’t over blend or try layering the color over softly, so you don’t have to blend much.

  13. LuckyHet says:

    You look so beautiful!

  14. LuckyHet says:

Also your hair is so shiny. How did you get it to look so healthy?

  15. Annie says:

Aww, the roses are so sweet :]
I like the look, but I think slightly darker pink lips would suit it better.

  16. ilona says:

Thanks for the look! This helps a lot with figuring out what to do with VG7 gaga Beautiful as always!

PS: I would love to see a mini series of lip combos that includes lady gaga layered with different warmer glosses to see how that can change the intensity of it. I want to love it, but its so blue-based/cool toned for my skintone (NC40)

  17. SusyLovesMac says:

Very pretty look! Good job BF!!! :)

    Happy Valentine’s Ladies!!!!

  18. Brandi says:

    Hey Christine!

How does La La eyeshadow compare to Sushi Flower?

  19. Elysia says:

I love it! Would you say that Saint Germain is a good substitute for Lady Gaga?

  20. Hannah says:

love this look! I never thought about pink eyeshadow, I thought it made my eyes look bruised and swolen, but your tutorials have really inspired me and im off to find the perfet pink (or inexpensive lala dupe)

Also, (if you have time) sometimes could you do one eye with dupes an one eye with proper colours or swatch the dupes next the the actual colours so then I can compare and mix colours…because i’m a perfectionist like that :)

also sometimes if the collection is long gone I swatch the dupe you listed on my hand and look round the drugstore and try to find a dupe
haha I end up with so much eyeshadow all over me

    • Christine says:

Thanks a lot, Hannah! Pink with gold is always a nice way to make it look less swollen… or with brighter purples. Definitely keep trying, though. I remember the first time I did pink… my mom asked if I had been crying!

You can find all the swatches in the gallery! (Sometimes I don’t always have the dupe I recommend, because I have the LE version of it.)

  21. Very pretty! I did a similar look & tutorial on youtube using the 120 palette. I like yours.

  22. Kristen says:

Love it! The eyes perfectly complement the lips. What a great look. Also, Viva Glam Gaga looks much lighter on than I expected…good to know.

  23. Ali says:

You look absolutely gorgeous! Love that look.

  24. Tami says:

    Very beautiful!

  25. laura says:

    you look adorable

  26. Eden Landers says:

I know this is off subject, but i am wondering..Is MAC in Lillyland still available? I don’t see it on MACs website! :(

  27. Emily says:

I really like the pink and purple combo of the eyes. It’s so pretty!

  28. Kalee says:

beautiful!!! im going to try this for valentine’s day. i just hope that it doesnt make me look like im tired or have pink-eye (since bright pink eyeshadow usually does that to me).
im still in love with that blush and violet eyeshadow. cant wait to go get it! =)

  29. Hiromi says:

Pretty! I got GAGA lipstick today, I may pair it with Baby sparks or Internationalist. I got all my Spring Forecast goodies at the store today, can’t wait to try them on. Happy V-Day.

  30. Ember says:

Beautiful makeup. And the roses are lovely.

  31. Jennifer says:

Looks awesome! I’m hitting the M.A.C counter after I get out of class in 2 hours. :P Here I come Viva Glam lipsticks and Colour Forecast collection!

We pretty much have the same coloring so seeing you wear Viva Glam Gaga gives me hope. <3

  32. Diana says:

I second Vina Vo you can pull off any lipstick color Christine. I wish I could do that

  33. Stephanie says:

amazing. beautiful iris is such a beautiful color on you.

  34. Andrea says:

I love the eyes! It reminds me of the pretty nebulae :)

  35. LNU says:

I’m soooo bad at complimenting lips, thats why I always go for neutral and I swear you make it seem so easy haha!

  36. Natalie says:

Thanks so much for doing the looks.. Your swatches are great, but I love looking at your makeup looks to see how the shades look in the whole face shot. Gaga lipstick is pretty, but don’t think I can pull it off. Snob looks ghostly on me and this would do the same! Dang! :D

  37. Vanessa says:

wohoo!! another GREAT one Christine!:) i <3 this look!!

  38. selena says:

eyes look nice….lip color could use a liner so it wont look washed out…..lipstick is so much better on a tan skin tone. im nc42. looks so great on me. nc 40,nc42,45 etc. if you are fair, wear a liner!

  39. Marina says:

I love the new blush on you!

  40. Hyzenthlay says:

Beautiful :) I think the lips would be too cool for me, but I am sure I could figure out something that would work for me. Of course, this makes me want TOO many things from the Spring Forecast collection, urgh! I’m going to head into the nearest mall on Saturday morning and see what I just can’t resist . . .

  41. Diane says:

Such a beautiful look!! I love it! I’m super hyped for my Lady Gaga lipstick to come in the mail now!!

You have a lovely boyfriend =)

  42. Jae says:

Haha, I don’t know why I’m so glad you talked about Kitschmas…
XD I love that pigment SO much.

  43. Hanna says:

I know you got bombarded with possible “dupes” for Lady Gaga’s lipstick but how would you compare it with “Fashion Mews” with the Hello Kitty line?

  44. Amy says:

I would never have thought to pair gold liner with the pink and purple shadows! Might try that next time instead of my usual black or purple liner on the lower lash line. Always do black on the upper but it’s fun to mix it up on the lower, right!

  45. Meesh says:

You rock every look you do! That lip color seems out of place, but everything just pulls together with the end and your lips are just fearless! On that note, what other glosses do you recomment with viva glam gaga to warm it up?

  46. Hilana says:

I agree with Annie… Love the eyes, but I just can’t seem to like the lips. Howevah….. You pull off the whole thing just beautifully. :) Dramatic eyes just suit you so well.

  47. Bow says:

    Happy Valentine!! you look great~

  48. Anitacska says:

Love the eyes, but not the lips, you could never convince me to buy this lipstick (like with Saint German, lol). But you look very pretty anyway. :)

  49. Natalie says:

Christine, is Bubblegum similar to Lady Gaga lipstick?

  50. Iliana says:

I think this would look runway worthy if the lips were matte. Still, great job Christine!:-)

  51. Luisafer says:

    WOW so intense!!! love it!!!

  52. Cherie says:

awwwwwww good job BF!!!!! Your flowers are so pretty :)

You can totally pull off any colour!!! It’s awesome!!

Question – What lip colour would you recommend with light purple eye combo of: Shale, Banshee and Shroom??? I have on a very light mix of NARS Mata Hari and Dolce Vita blush. I’m NW15 in MAC. Having problems with lip colour today for some reason…

    • Christine says:

Thank you so much, Cherie! I love that he picks up on little things (I mentioned I liked these more fiery roses months ago!).

Hmm… I’d say either kind of a plum-berry kind of shade or a lighter blue-pink (but not too frosty or pale).

      • Cherie says:

Aww! It is so nice that he remembers the little things that mean something to you. He sounds like a keeper for sure ;)

        Thanks for the reco! :)

  53. Elle says:

Love it, Christine. I’ve been outta the MAC loop for a while–I haven’t even gone to a store yet to check out anything in the whole Amber/Pink/Plum/Coral collection (can’t remember what it’s called, embarassingly :) ) but you always bring me back! I love the pop of gold on the waterline–purple/pink/gold is a really good combo on you.

  54. SiaM says:

I love how you use metallic eyeshadows!! I am not used to pink lips ( I am a more neutral kind of girl) but the complete look is so stunning that I will try it =) Everything looks great on you!!!
Thanks for not being able to resist and sharing the gorgeous roses ^_^ ♥x♥x♥

  55. I love the eyes in this tutorial, but i think the lips is lacking something. It looks like the Pink is diluted or watery.

  56. Shannon Albrecht says:

Any substitue for the stars n rockets? TX for being so detailed and helpful! :)
