Thierry Mugler Dream Rouge Unique Lipstick ($28.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “chimerical purple, haunting, dark, and translucent.” It’s a berry-grape with subtle ruby red and purple micro-shimmer strewn through the base color, which does have a translucent appearance without being sheer. The color coverage is semi-opaque, and Dream wore five hours on me and left behind a residual stain that wore on for another hour or so. It has a naturally glossy finish, and it’s very moisturizing. The creaminess of the formula enables it to glide on easily, and the color deposits evenly without a big fuss. I couldn’t detect any scent or taste.
Guerlain Bee has a very similar texture but the color is redder. MAC Rebel is brighter and pinker. Milani Sexy Rose is pinker, less berry, and has a frosted finish.
It’s packaged in a slim metal tube that’s shiny, so while it does hold fingerprints, the reflective surface makes it harder to see them unless you look closely. The lipstick itself is shaped like a faceted jewel, which is fun to look at, but it doesn’t affect application in any way. It has enough heft that it doesn’t feel cheap, but it’s still lightweight overall and travel-friendly.

This is a great color for fall, because it's dark and vampy, but the translucent appearance of the color keeps it from being overwhelmingly dark. I wish their distribution was larger, because online-only shopping can be frustrating!

Hey there Christine!! Although I personally do not like wearing such plummy colours, I just thought I'd mention that wearing this lipstick really makes your eyes look SPECTACULAR. They look so hazel and just POP! It's a really great lipstick look for you :)
I just checked out the other colors on the Thierry Mugler website. I wonder what that blue one - "Fantasy" - looks like on the lips? Milani brand cosmetics used to sell a blue lipgloss - maybe they still do.
I saw this one today! (they are available at The Bay in Canada, as a previous poster mentioned- I'm happy I was wrong to think we didn't get them) It tends to vary considerably depending on your lip colour- it almost turns a custom shade for each person. It has a beautiful cool purple opalescence, but it's not blue like it looks in the tube. It's definitely a purple-based shade.
The sheerness reminded me a bit of Clinique's Almost Lipstick in Plum (only it doesn't have the shimmer). It's a really beautiful lipstick.

This color looks A LOT less scary on the lips than it does in the tube. I would definitely wear this!

Thierry Mugler is available at the Bay in downtown Vancouver. Their lipglosses are so cool but so expensive but I'm definitely going to get one. I have their blue rouge unique lipstick in "Fantasy," however I like* it not love, I do love the stain more than tube colour mixed with my natural red lips.

Hmmm, I have a lip gloss from MNY that is very similar to this! It's in gloss form and a little redder and more muted, I think, and with more shimmer, but still very reminiscant.

Major loving this lipstick. Living in the sticks as I did - was not aware TM did lipsticks even. This is a wonderful shade and I can so see reaching for it as one of my go to normal wear with everything lipshades this fall/winter. Hate the price however!
I must go and search this site. I am a sucker for brand- names cosmetics. This reminds me of Chanel Vamp lipstick color. But I dont like the container for this price.

The concept of this reminds me of L'oreal's Color Juice Sticks (I believe they are discontinued). I have one called Plum Crazy, which looks like it might be very similar, though I don't believe the L'oreal line had shimmer (at least not the shade I own). That lipstick looks great on you though! I wish it didn't cost such a pretty penny.

Hi, Jody. You might not see it, but I'll chime anyway. I saw Mugler's cosmetics line at The Bay on West Georgia in Vancouver, BC (Yes, the one that got hit last month). Give them a call if you can't sourse it in your city. I got the gel liner, it's superb.

Riveting Rose is darker and frostier - so it reflects kind of white.
