The Summer Season: Milani Rose Hip Lipstick
Milani Rose Hip (07) Lip Color ($3.49 for 0.13 oz.) is a beautiful, vibrant shade of fuchsia-pink. It has no shimmer but it does have a bit of a frosty sheen–not quite glossy. It’s intensely pigmented without having to pile on the layers, and it feels lightweight. The formula itself is creamy and moisturizing, but I find the color wears off considerably after two to three hours. (In all consideration, though I rate quality independent of price, $3.50 for a lipstick doesn’t make me feel guilty or worried about reapplying throughout the day!) I wish the scent was a little less synthetic and waxy, but I don’t notice it when I’m wearing it (though those with more sensitive sniffers may want to try before they buy).
Is this the right bright pink lipstick for you? Would you wear it?
The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

Thank you so much for a wonderful blog! I love this colour so much but I live in Norway and Milani is not sold here, can you recommend me a colour similar to this one? We have all the high end brands like Chanel, Armani, Bobbi Brown ++ we also have mac but we don't have MUFE, NARS and such..
u have such pretty lips! love the color and it looks good on you tho around here this is a BAD trend...like gross(combined with a lot of orange tan, glitter, gold and bleached hair) n if i ever wear something like that even tho im pale and with dark hair i'll be associated with those bimbos haha but why should i care lol
Hello, Love the blog. Keep it up. I had an exact duplicate from Dior a couple of years ago. I would like to get the same shade from a high end brand, couldn't find any myself. Help. (prefer Guerlain, Dior, Chanel, Givenchy) with no shimmer. need it ASAP for this summer. Thanks.
I'll have you know I just walked down to CVS and bought this, on your recommendation I try a hot pink. I love it so much I stopped in at the library so I could apply it in the bathroom. And it is fantastic and so flattering on me, and I can't wait to create a look with it and wear it out. I, for one, /love/ the scent. Mmmm.
I know in the states is like winter right now, but I live in a tropical island right and I was wondering if I could get away to wearing this bright pink color even if its December right now? Do the same rules apply or just change completely if we have a summer/spring season all year long? Don't get me wrong I love the fall look and I actually wear it within reason (I love a red lippy) but is the bright pink a do or don't? Please, please answer this question has been hounding me for days! <3
I love this, I'm trying to find it everywhere before I leave the country on Monday for 5-6 months. Want it so bad! Checked Walgreen and CVS, neither have it! Target doesn't sell it either. So bummed. :(
How does this color compare to Lickable/Girl About Town and Show Orchid? I had this one in my hot little hand last night, but decided to pass since I already have Lickable. Lickable was a major departure for me, a leap into the vibrant color pool! Too me this seems a little brighter than Lickable.
Do you think someone with a yellow/warmer skin tone would be able to pull this off? I've read reviews of this color which said it looks best on cool skin tones... so sad if thats true, because I want a nice bright color like this but I only have a drugstore makeup budget at the moment :(
i have this but it stinks soooo bad! terrible! like i wont wear it because of it. i got schiap and its exactly the same! but smells better and doesnt have a sheen.
This is a lovely color...I totally overlooked Milani until ur last post with the Mandarina from them! Where I'm from they are $4.99 tho... I purchased the Rose Hip and Orange Gina!! The smell def sucks tho, Im totally not used to that but thanks for posting this gorgeous color!!
you can really tell whether you like the lipstick by your smile.... they all look great on you but its easy to tell whether youll wear it again.... keep up the good work!
That color is beautiful and soooo affordable I'm always scared to try colors like this but for that price its worth the risk to try. Thanks
I like the pigmentation and quality of these lipsticks I bought Orange Gina #24 which has a bit of shimmer = a bit gritty (I couldn't find Mandarina) and I really like the color, wish it didn't have that scent though still trying to get used to it (but still love it and planning to get more).
Yes, even when wearing them, but I am slowly getting used to it =) The first day I swatch it and wore it was a bit to much for me, but still really liked the formula. Now, I can sense the smell but is not as overwhelming as the first time... BTW have you tried the Milani 3D Glitzy glamour glosses? I bought Stylish (which is orange with sparkles) to pair it up with Orange Gina, love their texture also...
Too bright for me, but I like the way it looks on your lips, it looks very creamy... I should see if I can find them anywhere near me and see the color range. By the way, I also had a question and didn't know where to post it. I'm looking for a good mascara... And I don't know which one to try out. How are MAC mascaras? Is there one that's really good? I heard awful things about their mascaras so I wanted your opinion too :) Thank you !
