The Summer Season: Guerlain Gil Rouge G Lipstick
Guerlain Gil (#40) Rouge G Lipstick ($46.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a beautiful shade of orange with subtle gold shimmer and a light sheen. It’s not quite a coral, but it has the lightness and brightness of one. It’s not a neon orange, nor is it overly dark, so it’s a much more wearable version of orange. I’m a huge fan of the Rouge G formula–it’s pigmented, smooth, and feels nearly weightless on lips. From the texture to the color pay off to the way it wears, Rouge G is one of my favorite lipstick formulas. For those with sensitive noses, though, may want to check it out in person first, because it does have a perfume-y scent in the tube (but I don’t notice it when I wear it).
Is this the right orange for you? Would you wear it?
The Summer Season is a series of posts featuring bright, vibrant shades of coral, orange, and pink lipsticks and lipglosses — all perfect for a summer of fun — that runs through July 2010.

I think if it did not come with such a heavy price tag, a lot more would love it, because it's a gorgeous colour and I love the swatch. It's beautiful. But when you work on a budget this is not the one to buy. But beautiful. Totally
Gorgeous. I already got #62 (Georgia) & #63 (Giulette) because of you Christine. They are both gorgeous and I love the packaging! The only thing I don't like is the scent. It's very rose like or floral. Vanilla is much better for me.
I prefer vanilla, too (but not sugary, syrupy sweet vanilla!), though the scent doesn't bother me (thankfully). You can leave the cap off for a day or two and the scent will diffuse quite a bit.
This was the first Rouge G I bought & I love it. I got it at the Guerlain shop in Disney's Epcot in Orlando.
Me too! When Guerlain Rouge G first came out, I bought two in Gil and had them engraved in Harrods. This is very complimenting for tanned skin and looks nice in the summer.
OMG Lee what an awesome idea to engrave these little beauties! Was never a fan of orange lippie but it sure does look nice with a great tan in Summer!
this is a nice shade, but it's too expensive, i don't wear often shades like this. do you have an idea what other brand could have a shade like this? maybe is there a dupe from mac? thank you!
Maybe Chanel's La Pausa - http://www.temptalia.com/chanel-rouge-coco-snea-preview-review-photos-swatches Nothing from MAC reminds me of this shade, though.
