The Scarlet Season: MAC Queen’s Sin Lipstick

MAC Queen’s Sin Lipstick ($14.00 for 0.12 oz.) debuted as a limited edition shade in Antiquitease, which was launched in the 2007 holiday season. It’s a stunning shade of brightened up ruby red with a soft frost finish. It applies evenly and opaquely with just two layers, and it hugs lips and ends up having a longer wear-time than the average MAC lipstick. I was really hoping to see MAC release another stunning holiday red this year but no such luck! You can check out some lip color combos I’ve done using Queen’s Sin, if you’re looking for ideas!

The Scarlet Season is a series of posts showcasing and featuring my favorite shades of red lips–from glosses to lipsticks that runs through December 2009. You can sure expect to see a lot of red this holiday season!

    Holy shit, that’s gorgeous.

Okay, wow. That is one of the prettiest frost lipsticks I have seen, and much redder on lips than it appears in the tube. What a great color – really IS a shame there were no holiday reds this year – what the heck, MAC? :P But yeah, I’m not into frosts as a general rule (except for Sci Fi Delity and Viva Glam IV) but this one is lovely.

LOVE it Christine! Had to sneak out of my reader box and visit to tell you :-D

Queen’s Sin is my fav. Loving the vampy eyes and lips! Ace!

  4. Christy says:

    Gorgeous! Reminds me of Hipster.

I missed this when it came out, it sold out so quickly at my location. I wish they’d rerelease it sometime.

  6. Kristin says:

This is really one of the most lovely reds you’ve shown so far. I love the light sheen on this one, but I think it would still be too dramatic for my fair skin.

I love this series by the way – maybe you can do pink in the spring time!!

    • Christine says:

I think you could get away with it, really :)

We’ll see! I was thinking maybe corals for spring… but I suppose that works just as well for summer.

      • Claire says:

I actually like the idea of doing both pink and coral for springtime. I love pinks myself, but I’d like to see which coral shades you think are standouts, too!

  8. amy says:

That is pretty, I like that it looks cool but without obviously blue tones. I like the name of the lipstick too.

  9. coco72 says:

Ohh! It´s so cute!! I love it! MAC should repromote it

  10. Catherine says:

    Wow, this is really beautiful!

  11. marielouise says:

Gee your lips look so gorgeous with this colour! :-)

  12. Rachel says:

I’m genuinely surprised that MAC won’t re-release Queen’s Sin. The demand after the initial release should have been an indicator of successful re-promote potential, or just making it a permanent shade. Ahh…it’s the little disappointments in life that can irritate the most. Heh.

  13. Missy says:

I don’t wear red lipstick but this is gorgeous!!!

  14. Christina C says:

I love this red too. I wish I got it when it was released. I got Port Red because it was supposed to be a dupe but it’s a bit warmer than Queen’s Sin, I think. I hope they re-release this one!

  15. VJNS says:

Oh! Hit me in the heart!! I’m wearing it for the opening of New Moon.

  16. Leesha says:

Holy crap! This is so beautiful. It would go awesome with Amorous dazzleglass!

  17. Jackie says:

I think I am in love! I saw the other red lipsticks that you also applied on your lips but for some reason i keep coming back to this one. It’s so beautiful and I LOVE the finish. You’re truly amazing Christine!

  18. Reza says:

This is my favorite red besides MAC’s New York Apple. Do you think they’ll ever bring this back?

  19. Ryou says:

Aww, now I must have it after seeing the swatch. Re-release it already, MAC! *shakes fist*

    I wonder how it looks compared to Fresh Moroccan though. It looks redder but I’ve only seen online swatches so I really wouldn’t know… x_X;
