NYX Jumbo Eye Pencils: Pure Gold, Electric Blue, Purple Velvet, Rocky Mountain Green
New Jumbo Eye Pencil Shades for Summer
Just in time for summer, NYX has added four new perfect-for-the-season shades of their Jumbo Eye Pencils ($4.00 for 0.18 oz.). These are oversized eyeliners that can be used as an eyeshadow, eyeshadow base, or eyeliner.
- Pure Gold is a coppered gold. It has a frost finish, and it’s not exactly “pure gold,” since it looks rather coppery. It’s a beautiful color nonetheless!
- Electric Blue is a brightened sky blue with silver shimmer and a satin-frost finish.
- Purple Velvet is a royal purple with a violet shimmer-sheen.
- Rocky Mountain Green is a lightened emerald green with a silver pearl finish.
I like the Jumbo Eye Pencils as eyeshadow bases the most, because their jumbo-sized points are easier to use in applying it all over the eye. Similarly, the pencil is often a bit unwieldy when trying to use it as an eyeliner, just because it is so much bigger and the point that much less precise for lining. I think it would be cool if these were double-sided with the same color on both, but one side is a normal-sized pencil, while the other is the jumbo-size! Best of both worlds, yeah?
I’m able to wear the Jumbo Eye Pencils alone without any creasing, but I think oilier eyelids will experience at least some, minimal creasing. I think they work really well to layer under eyeshadows, especially to give them more pop.

I have some of these pencils and love them. Cottage Cheese, Yogurt, Dark Brown & Milk. That being said, I really detest these colors. They look super cheap and too sheer. Yuck. Glad I've resisted the urge to buy more.
So, I decided to give these a whirl- and I had really high hopes for them but they ended up creasing horribly bad. I have very normal eyelids as well-not really all that oily. After about two hours of wear they swam up into my eyelids and took all the shadow with them. Even though they're cheapies I'm returning them as I can't see myself using them in the future. Would rather shell out $20 for the UD Jumbo pencil that sticks.
Major Pass...Unless NYX changed their formula I have them...old colors, not these & they were CREASE BOMBS!!!!
Ooh I would have loved to get Purple Velvet from these! I bought my first jumbo eye pencils today! The pens aren't available where I live, but I tried to limit myself and just bought three: Yogurt, Slate and Purple. What lovely colors!
I have tried these over and over with different primers etc. and they crumble and crease every time. Pass. ;(
I'd love to try these pencils, the colours look amazing and for the price, you can't really make a mistake! Silly question mode : where do you find this brand? (I'm from France but will be going to the US in September, I'm starting a list of things to buy!)
These are all so lovely and I love NYX's prices. My favourites are rocky mountain green and purple velvet.
I love these! Does anyone know what type of sharpener works best for these? I tried to sharpen mine last week and it ate up all of the product. Thanks!
The green is lovely hey anyone who knows the answer, please help; How do you sharpen these? I have one in lavender it is pretty but I have worn it down to the wood part and tried every single sharpener in my house and none of them fit! How can you sharpen them? Thanks in advance!
These are so pretty! I bought some but they crease terribly on me even when I just use a bit over-top UDPP, blend it out, and put eyeshadow on top. :(
Try blending a larger amount with the UDPP. I do this with concealer to prevent it from creasing under the eyes.
I had tried Nyx before but was never impressed with the line. To me, I like something that lasts. The Nyx eye shadows were to powdery and not strongly pigmented as MAC. The only drugstore brand that I think is worth looking at is Jane. It has a good price and a very good quality. I love these colors but overall am not impressed with the Quality.
As the owner of oily lids, I can tell you that they do crease when used either as an eyeshadow base or alone, as shadow.
I have 10 NYX jumbo eyeshadow pencils. I like them a lot. I may have to get a couple of these (Especially the Electric Blue, that’s kind of different!)
I love these I always use them as a base and they work great for me but I do get creasing once in a while :( I still love them though!
These pencils in general are fantastic as bases, right now I have milk and Slate, but one day I'm going to break down and buy a majority of them. :P
