Natural Makeup with MAC Warm & Cozy
As promised, here’s a quick look I did using a bunch of Warm & Cozy products! I used Comfort mineralize skinfinish as a blusher in the first set of full-face pictures more to show you what it looks like on (and why I’m not keen on it) — I often do my best to use as many products from a single launch as possible, just to experiment and show you what you could do (or why you may want to pull pieces from your stash to complement a launch).
Comfort on me is like a dirty orange (and trust, I applied lightly–talk about pigmented, at least!), and By Candlelight is definitely shimmery/reflective — I only put the lightest it bit on the tops of my cheeks, but sure enough, BAM!
Today is exciting for two reasons: Christmas Eve (love, love Christmas! I have a thing for food and glitz and glam) and it’s Mellan’s birthday (he’s two years old today)! :) Super sweet reader Roxanne (@RockSlam) made an awesome collage, too. It’s SO cute. Totally made my day! (You can check it out in this post, at the bottom!)
Merry Christmas Eve to those who celebrate :) Happy winter, if you don’t!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: MAC Cuddle shadestick (shimmery white gold base), MAC Chamomile Eyeshadow (soft off-white), MAC Modelette Eyeshadow (soft medium brown), MAC Mulled Cider Eyeshadow (medium dark reddish brown), MAC Embark Eyeshadow (dark red-tinted brown), MAC Rich Ground Fluidline (warm rich brown), Urban Decay El Dorado 24/7 Liner (gold), Dior DiorShow Extase Macara (black)
- Cheeks: MAC Comfort Mineralize Skinfinish (orange-bronze), MAC By Candlelight Mineralize Skinfinish (shimmery peach-pink) / Dior Coral Riviera Blush (coral)
- Lips: MAC Warm Me Up Lipstick (medium, yellowed pink), MAC 2N Lipglass (creamy peach-beige)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Cuddle = Baselight; Chamomile = Blanc Type; Modelette = Era; Mulled Cider = Folie; Comfort = bronzer; Warm Me Up = Cosmo; 2N = Revealing
Directions: Start by applying Cuddle shadestick as your eyeshadow base all over the lid with the 249. Using the 239, apply Chamomile eyeshadow on the inner third of the eyelid. Next, apply Modelette eyeshadow on the middle third of the eyelid and lightly blend with the inner corner. Darken the outer third of the lid with Mulled Cider eyeshadow with the 239, gently brushing it into the lower crease. Next, define the crease by applying Embark eyeshadow with the 226. Lightly tap and brush ModeletteĀ eyeshadow directly above the crease to soften. To finish the eyeshadow look, sweep Chamomile eyeshadow as a highlighter on the brow bone. Bring everything together by applying Urban Decay El Dorado Liner on the lower waterline and Dipdown fluidline on the upper lash line with the 208, and then sweeping lashes with Dior DiorShow Extase mascara.
For cheeks, lightly apply Comfort mineralize skinfinish to the apples of the cheeks and sweep upwards towards the temple with the 116. Highlight lightly with By Candlelight mineralize skinfinish using the 165 or 187. For more toned down cheeks, try Dior Coral Riviera blush with the 116.
For lips, apply Warm Me Up lipstick first, and then layer 2N lipglass for soft, neutral lips.

Fab !! I got the UD super stash just because of el dorado ! it’s so gorgeous !! Do you think Warm me Up is a MUST have ? I’m so unsure, it looks a bit peachy to me ! I’m more fond of pinkish, red lippies.
Christine, thanks for all the effort you put on Temptalia. And send my love to Mellan – a fellow capricorn !! Merry Xmas and a fantabulous 2010!

Haha! That’s totally something I’d do, too. Love me some GOLD liner. I really like Warm Me Up, but maybe you could try Cosmo. It’s similar, but probably pinker :)
I love being able to do Temptalia, so thank you for all of your support :)
Happy holidays, Claudia!!

Lovely look, very natural and simple for a holiday morning. Love the lip color!
Also *adore* the pooch photos, I think my response to every one of them was “awww”, especially the “where did the rest of me go?” one since my dog enjoys crawling away in the same fashion ;P
Christine

Thanks a lot, Wilcoa! Hope you’re having a good holiday season :)
Haha, I miss those puppy days when he’d sleep and lay like that ALL the time!

Oh, I love this look! One thing I noticed, though: In the section where you outline what makeup you used, next to the Urban Decay liner you have written (black) when I think it should be (gold). I’ve seen this before and it always confuses me for a second!

Very pretty Christine. Unfortunately as gorgeous as MSFs look in person they don’t photograph very well. :-( This is a stunning look but from the pictures I definitely prefer the Dior product over the MSFs & I know that you do too. Very helpful in giving an idea of the colour though! :-)
Christine

I agree — a lot of them photograph poorly, but this one is particularly bad, lol!
Thanks though :)

The eyeliners definately make this look pop. And it has also confirmed that Modelette is going to be mine, since i dont have any browns close to that shade.

Friday, December 25, 2009
I want Warm Me Up, Spiced Tea, Light That Fire! and 3N. I wanted the shadows at first, but then I changed my mind thinking they weren’t unique enough, but your look here is so pretty. It looks much better on than in the actual swatches. I have to wait and see them in person.

Christine, I forgot to add: Can you review that new dior mascara? I’ve been curious about it. I’m a chanel mascara kind of girl, but when I see something new, high end and packaged all pretty, I get curious. Lol

Do you know of an alternative to El Dorado 24/7 liner? It looks like Super Stash is sold out (at Sephora anyway), but that gold is sooooo nice! Merry Christmas!

I think the liners are the best part of this look. :) But seriously, the natural look you did with the Chanel quad was much prettier, so these 4 eyeshadows seem like a bit of a waste of money to me. But your eyeshadow application is as gorgeous as ever, really wish I could blend like that! :)
Happy birthday to Mellan and happy holidays to you and your family!

Oh, I agree–these four shadows are pretty subpar for MAC… particularly neutrals. I could recommend you ten amazing neutrals by MAC and not even have to think hard… way better than these.
Thank you!
Happy holidays, Anita!

Loving the look, but the orange cheeks are a big no-no! Coral Riviera is a much better match for this look. I <3 gold liner :)

Christine – is that really Dipdown fluidline???? My Dipdown is a flat matte dark brown. That looks more like Rich Ground to me…
Beautiful look as always! Just got my haul from this collection this afternoon, can’t wait to use it! Thanks for all the hard work you put into this site, I’d be lost without it :)
Christine
Friday, December 25, 2009
I think it must be Rich Ground, lol!
Jenni
Friday, December 25, 2009
Very very pretty! I was drooling over the liner you used and went to see what you listed. My Dipdown doesn’t look like that on me, it’s very dark and matte! Maybe Rich Ground?
Christine
Friday, December 25, 2009
Maybe it is after all! Thanks for pointing that out :)

Friday, December 25, 2009
This looks is just gorgeous! I love the eye and the lip combo is just fabulous!
And ahhhhh…. I definitely see what you mean about Comfort. Such a shame b/c it looks so pretty in the pan but it’s gonna look basically exactly like it does on you on me, so oh well hahaha. Coral Riviera looks gorgeous in its place though!
Merry Christmas!! And happy belated birthday to Mellan. =)

Gorgeous look, Christine! Cheeks are beautiful and the eyeliners add a nice bright pop to a muted cheek. I think that’s Rich Ground, though, not Dipdown…Dipdown doesn’t have any shimmer!
Christine
Friday, December 25, 2009
Thanks, Daphne! I will have to double-check later, but it’s layered over eyeshadow, so maybe that’s why :)
