NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo Review, Photos, Swatches (Fall 2010)

NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo
NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo

Prettiest NARS Eyeshadow Duo? Perhaps!

NARS Rajasthan Eyeshadow Duo ($32.00 for 0.14 oz.) is a stunning mix of golden taupe brown and smoky peacock blue. I’m not always a huge fan of NARS eyeshadows, to be honest–I’ve had a lot of misses, particularly with their singles in the past few seasonal collections–but Rajasthan blew me away. It is such a gorgeous duo that’s wearable and so perfect for fall. I love that it’s not a smoky plum but a charcoal black smoked out base with layers of metallic and navy blue all woven together. It may look a little on the cooler side, but warmer beauties will have no problem turning this into something lovely on the eyes.

The pigmentation is spot-on–it looks just like it does in the pan–while the texture is exactly what you’d expect from NARS: smooth and buttery. NARS’ eyeshadow duos are always a better value than their eyeshadow singles–you get twice as much for only $9 more.

I just got this duo a few weeks and although I love the colours, I'm not impressed with the formula. Perhaps I Just got a bad batch because it's so much more pigmented and vibrant in your swatches (could this be because of my skin tone?) I even tried swatching it on my hand with my eyeshadow base and after half a dozen layers of each, they only slightly showed up. What a shame. I also have a question for you. Do you know if certain eyeshadow bases react differently with different eyeshadows? My base (by POP Beauty) seems to love Make Up For Ever and MAC shadows but it just doesn't hold onto Nars. (Rajasthan is my only Nars eyeshadow so I can't speak for all of them). It's a peachy-gold liquid base with gold shimmer so perhaps due to all the colour in the base, it overpowers the colours in Rajasthan? Or perhaps Nars just doesn't mix well with liquids? I notice that you use the Nars eyeshadow base and I really want to get it but I might wait until I'm done my current bottle. Unless you have experience with this and can attest to Nar's base and its efficacy with its own shadows...I'll probably get it right away. I really want to wear Rajasthan more often but at the rate I'm using it now, I'm just denting the pan and not getting any of the pay-off. Sorry for all the questions! It's just that my questions are so specific that I didn't get what I was looking for on the internet. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

That can sometimes be the case, though with the NARS base, I haven't really run into problems myself :) I wasn't over the moon with UDPP in general and for awhile, favored color bases because so many bases seemed to mute rather than accent colors!

I have the same problem! I spent $40+ on this duo and all I'm doing is denting the pan and I can't seem to get the same pigmentation as Christine got here... Is there a way to contact NARS regarding this?

Hi Christine! I missed out on Rajasthan duo, do you have any suggestions for dupes ? Your last review of Jealous Jordana from the Balm looked similar to the peacock dark side but I'm not sure where to find the golden taupe color. Btw I love your blog ! and I like also that its getting update so often :) Gives me something to look forward at the end of the day

lol I just read a few comments and got my answer from one of your posts, again love your blog :)

I love this duo. This was my first purchase from this company. I am interested in buying some more products but not sure what else to get. I also have coconut groove. What else do you suggest?

Brazil is a great duo!

just purchased this online from bloomingdales, it said it was instock but then in the checkout it said "We need to confirm the availability of this item. When in stock, this item usually ships within 5 business days. If it's not available, we'll let you know. " is that just a disclaimer or does that mean its on backorder? thank you so much if you know but also for this review! the colors are so gorgeous i saw these swatches and fell in love! i am a young makeup addict and i think this would be so gorgeous and a great staple item! thank you so much i love your website!

It could go either way, honestly :(

it came! it shipped really quickly and everything! i used it yesterday and it is so gorgeous! i put the taupe color over my busy signal benefit cream shadow with the deeper charcoal teal color in my crease and outer v and it looked great! its almost like smokey neutral look! its so everyday

I just recently bought this and I don't know if it's just mine but are the shadows a little sheer? And the tan color has a lot of fallout. And I really wanted to love this ):

I didn't have any sheerness or fall out issues!

I have the same issue with mine. I'm wondering if it's a bad batch. Definitely not the usual NARS eyeshadow quality, I really have to pack on the tan side in multiple layers to get anything to show up.

its sold out everywhere!!!:(

Is this duo shadow a limited edition or permanent? I feel the urge to buy it but I am on the fence about it.

Hi Christine, just wondering is this permanent or limited edition? Thanks!

Just found out that I won this, and I had to take another look at these swatches. So excited! :)

Hi Christine, I'm from a small european country and I'm having much trouble finding NARS products, so I wanted to ask you, does MAC have any dupes for these two lovely shades?

The closest would be MAC Deep Blue Green pigment and MAC Patina.

I don't own any NARS eyeshadows but I MUST have this. So gorgeous.

I'm excited to get this NARS duo. It looks like my kind of colors.

Yay I bought this on saturday. It is beautiful.

Oh wow, I'm getting this for sure.

could you dupe the lighter shade of the duo with the one from Earth angel duo? tia!

It seems like it would be pretty close!

Christine, I loved this combo ! Which MAC eyeshadow do you think could be a dupe for the blue one ????

Plumage maybe, though it's not the same.

Yaaaay its beautiful! This is the one thing 4 sure i want frm the collection...and like u im not even a big fan of their e/s but this is a must!

This duo is sooo pretty! When does it come out on the Sephora website? Because I didn't see it D;

I know it was up there when I wrote this review!

Hi Christine. I have MAC Plummage and its looks pretty similar. What do you think? I love this duo!

I'd say this is bluer - kind of the same idea, but it's bluer and the finish is different.

I am safe - these colours do not suit me. I look tired and pale with them. But I can wear these colours with clothes, and then I love them!

Grrr.. Thanks Christine!! I hate NARS shadows and I have been safe from your NARS enabling, but not with this! I should have stayed away from Temptalia today!!!

Hi Christine :D This is soooo lovely Im trying not to find similar items in my stash so would MAC Woodwinked E/S and Deep Blue Green Pigment be a dupe or is this different enough to pick up. Thanks

Woodwinked is wayyy too red. Maybe Patina at best. Deep Blue Green flashes greener and has a ton more shimmer, but it's similar.

Shimmery. Preeeettyyyyy. Neeeeeeeddd. And I might've overlooked it if you hadn't swatched it. Thanks!

I'm loving this duo so much that I just purchased it online along with taj mahal, which I've been wanting for the longest time. I'm so excited I can't wait to get my pkg in the mail. I used your code for the mini glosses so I definitely feel like this purchase is worth it. Thanks Christine!

Hope you love it, Parris!

This is really beautiful! I love these colors together. :)

I actually belong from Rajasthan. Rajasthan is a state in India. The duo makes so much sense with the name cuz' Rajasthan state has desert which explains the taupe golden and the state also has lots of peacocks so the peacock green makes sense.

hey neet..........hi...i m shilpa frm delhi...gud to see some one frm india on this blog....

hi jesse.. i m also frm jalandhar...shifted to delhi aftr marriage...
