NARS Pago Pago Lipstick
NARS Fall 2011: Pago Pago Lipstick
NARS Pago Pago Lipstick ($24.00 for 0.12 oz.) is described as a “shimmering pink,” and it is part of the Sheer Lipstick line. Sheer Lipsticks are supposed to have “sheer, long-lasting color pigments” and include a blend of ingredients to “hydrate, nourish, and protect lips.”
Swatched, Pago Pago is a subtle pink-beige with white shimmer suspended in a very creamy base. MAC Lush Amber looks similar on but they are very different when swatched, as does MAC Martha though it is less peach.MAC Bare Again has more coverage and a touch darker. Chanel Peregrina is a touch pinker but similar.
When I wore it, there was less noticeable pink and more beige that came out. It looked more like a healthy nude lip–warm, subtle, natural–nothing that washes one out, feels or looks chalky, or otherwise might lean towards corpse-like lips. The natural translucence in the formula will make this a wearable shade on most skin tones, because the natural pigmentation of the lips will play with the color. If you have naturally redder lips, I would expect this to look pinker.
When I was test-driving Pago Pago, it wore well for about two and half to three hours, but by three and half, it needed a reapplication. It’s a little moisturizing, because there are no drying effects after wearing it for two to three hours. It feels a bit balm-like initially, but the shine wears off at two hours and you’re left with residual color and shimmer.
Where to Buy: NARS, $24
The Glossover
Aside from the short wear time, this lipstick is nice--the creaminess of the formula helps it glide onto the lips, and there is enough color to be visible but enough translucency to keep it sheer.

One word...Wow! I love Pago Pago! What a gorgeous colour! I adore it! I have a dark mocha complexion, but I think this shade would be very light and natural-looking on me. I will definitely pick it up when it becomes available. Thanks for the swatches, Christine.
I usually do smokey eyes everyday, and this colour looks like it would be gorgeous with darker eye make-up. I'll have to check it out at Sephora! Great swatches, Christine, it looks beautiful on you.
wow this color is beautiful! would definitely be a must purchase for me if it weren't for the shimmer. i hate that leftover glitter residue when the lipstick wears off!
I really like this color... maybe even enough to break my vow to never buy NARS! Do you know if it will be available at Sephora, or just via NARS' own website?
it looks a lot like Chanel rouge coco shine #48 Evasion ... its very pretty but i find i have to keep reapplying these sheer lipsticks and sometimes I just dont have the time to keep doing that! much love claire xoxo
Not only is the lipstick beautiful...Christine,you look even more gorgeous than usual in this makeup palette.I'm so jealous!!
So pretty! I love NARS' sheer lipstick line. All-time fav is Barbarella and am always looking for a cheaper dupe!
So subtle and natural! Lately nudes seem to be too brown, too pale, or too coral for me, but this is a gorgeous natural shade, something we need more of.
