It’s kitschy but I don’t know if I’m WOWed enough by it. Maybe if the colours actually tied into specific clan tartans I would be moved. And why are the Faerie colours always some shade of pink or nude? There are Dark Faeries too you know. Ah well.
Plus I kind of promised myself no more make-up except to get some Sigma Brushes the rest of this year. Have to squirrel away money for Giftmas presents and such

The shadows have a nice press pattern but $23.50CAN a pop for a small pan makes me sad.
Sorry there the same size as a mac blush/MES but I bet all the markings are superficial.
The plaid is NOT an overspray, according to various other blogs.
I actually asked this question and the Tartan impression actually goes all the way to the bottom. So it doesn’t fade.
A sales rep told me they are just oversprays, so I’d love to have one answer about that!

Omggg yesyesyes Pearlglides are being repromoted!!! They are my FAVORITE eyeliners. I got Industrial and Undercurrent from the first time they were repromoted… I try not to use them up because they’re so beautiful and I can’t get another if I run out! Thank god they’re repromoting Undercurrent, but I’m sad they aren’t with Industrial. Oh well, one is better than none! Woohoo!!!
Does anyone know if we’re allowed to use the Pro discount with these? I know I couldn’t use it with Venimous Villians.

Farie Glen is described as a pale neutral pink…but none of those lipsticks look pale pink. Thats disappointing cuz I love me some pale pinks. Cut a caper sounds gorg tho. Can’t wait to see your swatches Christine, keep up the good work!!!
Faerie Glen is almost identical to Hug Me if you want something to base it on. It’s very pretty, maybe just a hint more toward nude than Hug Me. But if you have Hug Me, I’d skip it… Hope this helps!

This collection is just dangerous… I like a majority of the products, which is a change from the past few collections, where I hardly wanted anything at all. Can’t wait to see the swatches!
The eyeshadows really look gorgeous.
Loved the sound of the blushes but I think I’m going to have to pass! Too bad the blushes don’t have the tartan pattern like the eyeshadows do! The eyeshadows are too cute.

MAC at South Coast Plaza in the OC has everything for swatching and pre-order! The packaging is amazing, real fabric tartan, not just printed plastic. Plus the MAC crest is to die for. Picked up a Sweep Me Off My Feet brush set just for the bag! And great brushes I guess

wow – those pigments will be mine – they are amazing! I also want to pick up 2 of the dazzleglasses and the black swan pearlglide. I love pearlglide liners…does anybody else have problems with sharpening them…they always seem to break on me and I use a mac sharpener
If you put the pencil in the freezer a little before sharpening it, it shouldn’t break. I fount that out when I had problems with Urban Decay’s liners breaking, someone at Sephora told me.

Not that I know of, sorry! I believe the regular colour collection is like any other collection so the discount would apply.

Will this collection be available in all MAC stores or is it just mac pro? Cos we have just a MAC counter in my city…so I was wondering will they have it…

I just saw the items at my local MAC counter & I’m HIGHLY impressed. I wasn’t impressed with Venomous Villain’s. Maybe my hopes were too high there. I returned several items to Mac from Villain’s today & I noticed the Holiday Collection 2010. I tried on the My Highland Honey Blush & fell in LOVE. It’s gorgeous! I pre-ordered! Beautiful peachy/coral shade. Highly recommend
That is so cool that you were able to see the collection and test it out before you ordered it. I wish my MAC counter had the same thing, they only have a catalog. I wonder the PRO stores are doing that. My MAC counter is at Dillards.

The photos of second and third pigment are the exact same picture! The way the pigment sits in top and in the jar are exactly the same, even the sparkles are the same. I know these aren’t your photos, but do you know why they would do that?
The photos are generally just photoshopped to reflect the color – it’s like they shoot the product once and then swap out the color. That’s how MAC has done their photos for awhile – even their swatches online were just black and white textures overlaid with color.
OH MY GOSH the eyeshadows feel very creamy for powders lol better than mineralize eyeshadows more like the veluxe pearl texture.. from what i saw in store(pre-sale swatchinggg)!

when are going to do an in depth review on the MAc Tartan Tale products?
I went to a pre release party! I was pretty taken by the coraly peach blush, but I have peaches, so I thought it was too similar…I only picked up a lip kit
Still, I tested the new eye shadows and they seem like they would apply like a dream! 
Most of the collection is out at the PRO Store in Toronto. I stopped by today (not knowing it was out), but they only had 3 lipsticks and 3 eyeliners…the rest was there. I picked up Follow Your Fantasy e/s. The blushes looked fun but SO BRIGHT!!!! not really my style. Nothing else did it for me so I’ll just wait till the rest of the holiday stuff comes out.
I did pick up Viva Glam II though!!
I’m getting impatient! I’ve been checking online since early this morning, but MAC still hasn’t added the Tartan Tale collection up on their website. Why MAC, why???!!!! I hope they put it up soon. I will be busy tonight and probably won’t be able to get on the computer until tomorrow. If anyone sees it up on their website online, please let me know. Thank you!!
As of right now, 8:30pm on Tuesday the 26th, Tartan Tale is up on the MAC website! I just got a lip palette, eye palette and nail polish! Yayyy!!
Thank you Karyn!! I have placed my order. I decided on only 3 lipsticks: Faerie Glen, Cut-a-caper & courting lilac and the 6 Twists of Tartan Eyeshadow Palette. That is all I could afford for now.
