Easy-peasy smoky eye :) I consider this the “traditional” smoky eye, since I’ve always thought of a smoky eye as silver/gray. Video tutorial for this coming soon, too!
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Electra eyeshadow (bright silver), Silver Ring eyeshadow (dark silver), Typographic eyeshadow (matte dark gray), Carbon eyeshadow (matte black), Blanc Type eyeshadow (soft white-beige), Blacktrack fluidline (black), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Enough Said blush (bronze), Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer (bronzy highlighter)
- Lips: Honeyflower lipstick (pinky-nude), Nymphette lipglass (pinky-beige)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Femme-fi = Shroom; Brave New Bronze = Velvet Teddy
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. On the inner lid, pack Electra eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Silver Ring eyeshadow to the middle and outer portions of the lid. Darken crease and outer lid with Typographic eyeshadow using the 226, then deepen with Carbon eyeshadow with the 219. Sweep Blanc Type eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Blacktrack fluidline on lower lash line and upper lash line using the 208. Apply Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Enough Said blush using the 129, then highlight with Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer with the 188. Apply Honeyflower lipstick to lips, and then top with Nymphette lipglass for color and shine.

Very nice look! I’m a sucker for any black/silver/gold make up. That’s what I prefer to do on me.
Is the silver on your upper lid a little warm or is that my screen?

Thanks so much, Diabla! :) Hmm, it isn’t warm on mine, though not super cool.

I agree that silvery gray is the original smokey eye. I hate it when people say that taupey browns are smokey eyes!!!

Haha!
Thank you so much :) I think you can do any colors into a smoky eye, but the classic will always be gray/silver to me!

That’s beautiful and seemingly simplistic. I will have to try. You can put fluidline on your waterline??? I was always afraid.

hey great look….u look awesome. I have one question about contouring. Is it a must to use a bronzer for contouring or can it be a dark shade of blush. Also if bronzer is being used then should it be shimmery or matte?? thanks in advance…Great website keep up the great work…:)

Thanks so much, Tehreem! :)
I don’t think you have to use a bronzer or not. I don’t use bronzer — I use Sculpt sculpting powder by MAC, but before then, I used Emote blush. I prefer matte myself :)

This is gorgeous! Love the colors. I love to do smokey eyes with browns, purples, etc — but the silver/grey is a clasic.

Err.. Did you just get tanned or is it my computer? :D Looks fab as always.
Christine
Tuesday, July 28, 2009
LOL! Nope, not really tanned… maybe a little from vacation, but I didn’t spend *that* much time outdoors. Then again, I tan in a nanosecond. I could be slathered in SPF 70 and tan in 15 minutes.

Aw I am so jealous! I only ‘burn’t, not tan. You look really healty and ‘tanned’ lol.
Christine

lol! I have yet to get a sunburn (knock on wood!). I used to be really pale, sallow, yellow skin. I moved to California when I was 4 or 5 years old, and I swear, one summer here? Perpetually tanned. Of course, now I am tanned and glowy-tan, but my skin color darkened up SO much.
