MAC Style Black Look: Dark Smoky Eyes
Just a quick Style Black I through together this morning before I took a shower. I’m not sold on mineralize eyeshadows whatsoever! I applied these mineralize eyeshadows wet using water-based mixing medium (for better adhesion and to minimize fall out). Admittedly, it’s all over a significantly dark base, so maybe that’s why they just don’t pop much. I did two different lips — the first is the lip I’d actually pair with it (based on my style and preferences); the second is with black lips as requested.
Two notes: I’m wearing Korres’ Wild Rouse Foundation in this look. (I think the shade may be a lil’ orange on me–not sure if going a shade lighter will help or not yet.) One eye has a stronger distinction between crease and highlight (which, to be honest, looked fine in real life) that I would recommend blending out more in practice.
You will need the following…
- Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Dark Soul pigment (dark black-gray), Gilt By Association mineralize eyeshadow (black-bronze), Young Punk mineralize eyeshadow (black-purple), Blue Flame eyeshadow (dark blue), Femme-fi eyeshadow (neutral highlighter), Black Greasepaint Stick (black with purple shimmer), Stila Purple Pumps Smudge Pot (purple shimmer), Plushlash mascara (black)
- Cheeks: Plum Foolery blush (pinky-purple)
- Lips: Brave New Bronze lipstick (pinky nude), Bling Black glimmerglass (dirty antique gold)
- Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
- Substitutes: Gilt By Association = Tempting; Young Punk = Contrast; Blue Flame = Deep Truth; Femme-fi = Shroom; Black Greasepaint = Smolder; Brave New Bronze = Velvet Teddy; Bling Black = Reflects Antique Gold + Black Lip Mix + Clear gloss
Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. With the 239, apply Dark Soul pigment with water-based mixing medium on the lower lid. On the inner lid, pack Gilt by Association eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Young Punk eyeshadow to the middle and outer portions of the lid. Darken crease with Blue Flame eyeshadow using the 226. Sweep Femme-fi eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Black Greasepaint stick on lower lash line, and Stila Purple Pumps smudge pot on lower lash line with 209. Apply Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Plum Foolery blush using the 129. Apply Brave New Bronze lipstick to lips, and then top with Bling Black glimmerglass for color and shine.

With Black Knight lipstick + Blackware Glimmerglass

Your eyes look super and Brave new Bronze is beautiful on you. It looks totally different on me. I don't know if I will ever thing black looks look good on anyone though. They just look gangsta to me. Lol.
This is too freakin sexy! Save it for your bedroom. I'm sure your boyfriend will appreciate it;). lol
wow, this is amazing. although i would only go out on a regular night with the subdued lip. i'll save the black lip stick for halloween ;) you look beautiful!
This's so amazing!!WOW~~SO COOOOOOOL That's what i felt when i look at you black lip! I'm Katie from China, nice to meet you!
OMG i love the eyes. Not sure about the summery blush with the black lips, but I think the blush was meant to go with the first lip look? BTW I would love to see you with a brown smokey eye.
WOW ! that's all i can say for this look. both neutral lip and black lip. =D i wanna ask though. i can't decide on to get young punk or blue flame. =[ which colour pays off better ? and does the colour look 100% like in the picture. coz i love the picture colour. ooh and which do you prefer love ? thank you !
i like them both, i did a similar look yesterday with the nude lip as well, i don't think i can pull off a black lip the way you do! go girl!
Wow, Thanks so much for the full '' style black look '' .... So pretty !!! You are a pretty girl, have gorgeous mouth/lips and a pretty smile, so naturally everything looks nice on you, but I think the black lippie is a bit strange ... I'm more fond of the first look!!! The eyes are amazing :) The Stilla Purple Pumps looks fab too :D
I just loved the eye look, Christine, particularly for nighttime, with the pale lips. You did a fantastic job! I'm afraid the black lipstick didn't do it for me, but then, I don't think most women can pull it off without looking goth-ish, or ready for Halloween.
u look totally gorgeous on both looks! the nude lip look is wearable and the black lip adds a kick! love them both, good job!
Gorgeous look! Both with beige and black lips. I like the fact that the black of the glimmerglass doesn't show up at all over the pale lipstick.
This eye look is FANTABULOUS. I am so not a fan of MAC's MES but I have to say, Gilt by Association looks soooo pretty on you in this look! The gold really pops in the full face pictures even though it's not that noticeable on the closeups. I'm also impressed at how Brave New Bronze looks w/ the gloss on top. Truly adds a whole new dimension! And yea... you're right about the Korres Rose foundation - it is def too orange for you. =/
The eyes are super hot and I love the nude lips! You're so pretty. BNB is my favorite nude lipstick and you've just convinced me I need that gloss :)
I really like the second look actually because it really shows off the collection of dark makeup colours for this season. I like that you use almost all the Style Black products to show off the product and the line. It is a very fun look to go out with once in a blue moon like clubbing or party. :)
Thanks a lot, Amy :D That's kind of my goal - use as many products from the collection as I can, lol! It can be hard, though, sometimes I want to grab for other shades that may work better *but* I resist!
I am head over heels, madly in love with this look! I love that its dark and smoky but still has a surprising amount of color. I wasn't planning on getting much from Style Black but now I may have to!
