Look – Bright Future Sunset

Saturday, May 23rd, 2009

I did this look yesterday :) Just trying to use Bright Future from Style Warrior & make it work for me! It’s better than the last round, but in truth, it doesn’t top Going Bananas or Bright Sunshine — I’d prefer both of those over Bright Future. I find Chrome Yellow to be hard to wear, because it is so yellow, and I think the same issue is here with Bright Future.

What’s everyone doing for the long weekend?

You will need the following…

  • Eyes: Soft Ochre paint pot (neutral beige base), Quick Frost pigment (whitish-gold), Bright Future eyeshdaow (bright yellow), Rule eyeshadow (matte orange), Coppering eyeshadow (orange-red), Firespot eyeshadow (orange), Texture eyeshadow (brownish-red), Soft Force eyeshadow (highlighter) Urban Decay Lucky 24/7 Liner (copper), Plushlash mascara (black)
  • Cheeks: Eversun beauty powder blush (coral-pink), Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer (bronzy highlighter)
  • Lips: Brave New Bronze lipstick (pinky nude), Tartlette lipglass (coral)
  • Brushes: 266 (firm, angled brush), 226 (fluffy crease brush), 219 (pointed crease brush), 214 (smudge brush), 249 (flat, firm brush), 239 (fluffy shadow brush), 129 (dense blush brush)
  • Substitutes: Quick Frost = Frost; Bright Future = Bright Sunshine/Chrome Yellow; Firespot = Goldmine+Coppering; Soft Force = Nylon; Eversun = Springsheen; Brave New Bronze = Honeylove; Tartlette = Lychee Luxe

Directions: Define brows using a coordinating powder shadow applied with the 266 brush. Apply Soft Ochre paint pot all over the lid as the base with the 249. With the 239, apply Quick Frost pigment with water-based mixing medium on the lower lid. On the inner lid, pack Bright Future eyeshadow on using the 239. Apply Firespot eyeshadow to the middle and outer portions of the lid. Overlay outer lid with Coppering eyeshadow. Darken crease with Rule eyeshadow using the 226, then deepen with Texture eyeshadow with the 219. Sweep Soft Force eyeshadow underneath the brow bone to highlight. Finish with Urban Decay Lucky Liner on lower lash line. Apply Plushlash mascara on lashes. Sweep apples of cheeks with Eversun blush using the 129, then highlight with Dior Amber Diamond Skin Shimmer with the 188. Apply Brave New Bronze lipstick to lips, and then top with Tartlette lipglass for color and shine.

How do you get the colors to "pop" is it because of the ochre base that you use?

You are insanely gorgeous.

Oh, my!! You're so freaking cute!!! I love you hair in a ponytail, I belive I mentioned that a number of times!!! I love the lips and cheeks!!!

lol! Thank you so much, Sash :D

Hi Christine! i am amazed of how many looks you come up with and they are all good. So, i would like to ask you: which look is your very favourite :)?

Thanks so much, Abby! I don't have a favorite, to be honest. There's just no way I could pick just one!

Dear "Zzzzainy", Hi! Apparently I have used *A* picture from temptalia (not "pictureS"), which I credited to Glam.com, the place I found it (http://beauty.glam.com/blogs/temptalia/mac_sugarsweet_sneak_peek_lip_swatches/?cat=Beauty), and Glam.com does credit temptalia. I pride myself on being extremely respectful to other blogers and try my best to credit whenever appropriate. My email is listed right on my blog, and comments are open, so next time you feel I'm doing something unethical, please contact me rather than post a misleading comment on the internet, but thanks for the extra traffic! x Amy

I love the look, Christine. I'm wondering if I'm skilled enough to pull it off on myself. Can't wait to start buying stuff from this collection!

Thanks, Elle! Oh, I bet you are!

omg i did an identical look like that today and i made a video and called it sunset as well lol. i used pretty much the same colours from a smashbox quad though. great minds think alike iguess lol

Great minds think alike for sure :D

I love this look on you! It's just so pretty and bright! It's really a gorgeous, gorgeous look!

Thanks so much, Catherine! :)

This is soooo pretty! It reminds me of the sun going down... <3

Aww, thanks, Mikki! That's a great description!

Great look Christine! and i love your brows...i'm so jealous! yours are so perfect...so not fair:((

Thanks, Ice :) Awww, psh! My skin is a MESS!

Christine u look so stunning and the combo is amazing, I can't wait to try it out!!

Aww, thank you so much, Chocobon!!

love it! is soft force close a dupe for solar white?

Thanks, Dani! :) It's similar, but I think it's yellower.

Oh firespot, why must you haunt me.

I am in love with your eyebrows! and i like the colors you use :D

Yay! Thanks, Adelina ;)

nice! your top matches too!

All in all this look is pretty on you! I agree your blending skills are amazing. However this yellow shadow in the hands of an amatuer could spell disaster.

I'm glad ya liked it, Jen! Thanks so much :)

Did you just get your brows done? They look perfect! Just a tip: the new shape of your brows accentuates the area under your cheeks a bit, so unless you're wearing your hair over that part, you might want to contour your cheeks more often. :) Just a tip! Man, I really should get more orange/yellow shadows!

Nope, haven't had them done in a long time!

wonderful look..and the last pic is SHOOOOOO ADORABLE!! :) love your smile in that one! :)

Aww! Thank you so much, girl!

I want your eyebrows. Not sure if they'd look fine on me but they're heavenly plain and well shaped.

I think this came out real nice. I do like Bright Future on you, but I must say I'm still contemplating on whether to get it myself or not. I do not own any of the other yellow MAC shadows, but noone has really raved about Bright Future either so don't know if this should be my choice or not. For now, when I want to get a real yellow on my eye, I go for packing on some Golden Lemon pigment & that works for me. Firespot is to die for!

Thanks, Nic! It's OK, but I prefer Bright Sunshine or Going Bananas, and Bright Sunshine is perm.

LOVE this! So reminiscent of the Moonbathe collection (one of my favourite MAC collections ever). Bright Future looks awesome when used this way and with these colours. :D I am definitely going to try this look when my SW haul arrives.

Thanks, Skyler! Oh yeah, I LOVED Moonbathe. That one needs a re-do!

how sparkly do you find those dior skin shimmers to be?

They're a soft shimmer/sheen, not really sparkly!

Your look was such a pleasant surprise!! To be completely honest, I haven't seen a Bright Future look that I've liked yet.. until yours! Everyone else's has been alright, but their Bright Future + Vibrant Grape = Icky brown. But your look is so lovely, and makes me crave Firespot even more! Thank you so much for sharing this!
