Guerlain D'une Etreinte Eyeshadow
Guerlain D’une Etreinte Eyeshadow

As White as Snow

Guerlain D’une Etreinte (143) Eyeshadow ($36.00 for 0.12 oz.) is a bright snow white; it’s not quite icy–there is some hidden warmth there that keeps it from being cool-toned. It is definitely a near-blinding kind of white, though, with a rich metallic finish. When applied dry, it is still nicely pigmented, but used wet, it seems slightly smoother and the metallic sheen is more visible.

my thoughts on the formula: Guerlain’s eyeshadow texture is phenomenal in their singles–smooth, silky, very buttery. The color is true-to-pan and delivers rich results with little product needed. This particular formula can be used wet or dry, though the color already reaches full intensity used dry. Guerlain’s eyeshadows are massive–over double the average single eyeshadow–and so by the ounce, Guerlain is as expensive ($300/oz.) (or as affordable) as MAC eyeshadows ($290/oz.).

final thoughts: This could work really nicely with a smoky eye–think blacks and whites and shades of gray.  It has a beautiful texture:  silky smooth, buttery, and excellent pigmentation.

I love Guerlain!!!!! It’s so rich and decadent! Try Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, and select Sephora stores, and online.

Hi Christine! I love your blog. I read it every morning. Do you think this would work as a brow/inner hilight? Thanks.

  6. Heather

    Kind of like nylon eyeshadow

Very pretty. I’ve been looking for a nice shimmery white that isn’t too yellow or too silver, with no glitter, this is it exactly. Out of my price range, though. :(

  8. Katherine

I have to pass. This is a stunning shade though! I am far too warm to wear shade that cool.

  9. Megan

Doesn’t Rimmel have a shade just like this? I own it and it is very similar, I forgot the name… but compare the prices. This is just way too expensive for me.

I love how even when you pony up the cash for a high-end eyeshadow, you still get one of those foam-tip applicators like you do when you buy a drugstore shadow. C’mon Guerlain!

$36?! does it apply it for you?! it’s a beautiful shade, but it’s not $36 cute. they made that up.
